When you’ve watched horror for most of your life you tend to have seen a lot of the gimmicks used to try to make the genre more interesting, even if we didn’t need it. 3D is one, if we can still call it a gimmick that keeps on re-appearing and while sometimes it works, others it just feels like it’s forced in. There are arguments for the use of 3D, such asGravity but with Paranormal Xperience is it really needed?
Paranormal Xperience features your normal horror film style story, with five students travelling to an abandoned mining village to investigate the supernatural. Said to be haunted by the spirit of the evil Doctor Matarga the students are there to see if...

Or, if you’re one of the cool kids, you can call it “XP3D”, though I wouldn’t recommend it. Although the trailer for Sergi Vizcaino’s “Paranormal Xperience 3D” isn’t overwhelmingly cool, the four recently released one-sheets are pretty darn snappy. I’m not entirely sure how the guy with the porthole on his face fits into the grand scheme of things, but I’m more than willing to find out. Ready for a long synopsis? Let’s hope so: Angela is a medical student who thinks she is capable of everything. Diana is extremely sensitive and responsive. They are sisters and have something in common: They hate each other. Angela, pressed by the eccentric Dr. Fuentes, will investigate a series of paranormal activities happening in a town called Whisper which has its own legend, a dead murderer, Dr. Amado. Rodar y Rodar, producers of The Orphanage are bringing us another dose of supernatural horror in Paranormal Xperience in 3D. Come on in and check this one out.
We've also got an early look at the film's poster. Hopefully the film turns out a bit more exciting than that, but once you watch the trailer with your own eyes I'm not sure you'll feel any differently than I do.
There's really nothing outstanding about this trailer, although it does look like it could be a certain amount of fun - providing the film is willing to go a bit darker than what's seen here. Honestly, this looks a bit like watered down Hollywood horror with a Spanish tongue. That's not always a bad thing, but my first instinct is that it looks all a bit ... tepid. Hoping to be proved wrong, though.

We didn’t like it as just a tagline, but from the looks of this striking new one sheet, Spanish production company Rodar Y Rodar are going with Paranormal Xperience 3D (urgh) as the title for Sergi Vizcaino’s latest horror movie. Personally we preferred the original name of Scars (aka Cicatrices) but we wont let one minor niggle get in the way of the fact Rodar was behind the truly superb Spanish chiller/thriller The Orphanage, so no surprise we’re keep an eye on it. Scars (we’re still in denial over the new title) is still early into filming, but we should be seeing more soon.

Spanish production company Rodar y Rodar, whose credits include The Orphanage and Julia’s Eyes, is delving further into the horrific. It has some new genre features in the works, including one from Eyes director Guillem Morales.
Screen Daily reports that Morales will helm the $17-million, English-language Venom from a script he wrote with Eyes collaborator Oriol Paulo. The story concerns experiments with snake poison for medical applications being conducted on a remote island, and the horrors that ensue after an accident occurs. “We are looking to have an A-list cast for the project and are excited about the film’s potential,” Rodar y Rodar president Joaquin Pedro tells the trade; Venom is slated to film in 2012. Meanwhile, Paulo is also set to script and direct another English-language thriller, The Body, about a police inspector whose investigation into a woman’s murder leads him to suspect her husband.

Spanish filmmaker Sergi Vizcaino is in pre-production on Paranormal Xperience 3D (also known as Scars ). Amaia Salamanca, Ursula Corbero, Alba Riba, Oscar Sinela, Luis Fernandez and Maxi Iglesias are set to star; the thriller is written by newcomer Dani Padro. Shooting commences this May in Barcelona and, according to Screen Daily, Padro's plot focuses on a group of youngsters in an abandoned town who are hunted by a mad doctor. I'm sure, somewhere in that story, something "paranormal" is involved. Vizcaino's background includes a number of shorts and some television work. Rodar y Rodar is producing the production.

Barcelona's Rodar y Rodar, producer of The Orphanage and Julia's Eyes, is teaming with Sony to make psychological horror-thriller Paranormal Xperience 3D, Spain's first 3D genre film. Loglined "Xperience the Fear" (nice and cheesy), the pic revolves around two sisters who, with other students, visit an abandoned village to investigate alleged paranormal phenomena. "This is a PG-13 film conceived from the point of view of its youth market and marketing potential," said Rodar's Joaquin Padro. "One of the film types that benefits most from 3D is horror," added Ivan Losada, managing director of Sony Pictures Releasing de Espana. As on Orphanage and Guillem Morales' The Uninvited Guest, Rodar has tapped a first-time feature director, 26-year-old Sergi Vizcaino. Screenplay is by 25-year-old Daniel Padro. Xperience's cast come from hit TV series: Maxi Iglesias ("Fisica o quimica"), Nasser Saleh ("La pecera de Eva"), and Luis Fernandez ("Los protegidos").
