Mti Home Video will release Ivan Zuccon's (Colour from the Dark) Wrath of Crows. The release date is scheduled this summer. And, the film was developed from Gerardo Di Filippo's script. The story involves a hellish prison and several prisoners. These prisoners are each held for a reason, though. Tiffany Shepis (The Prometheus Project), Debbie Rochon (Santa Claws), Tara Cardinal, Domiziano Arcangeli and Suzi Lorraine star in this horror feature. Early reviews have been a mixed bag. Mike Thomas of Matchflick liked the film's acting: "Wrath of the Crows, albeit a very confusing title, is an intense morality play with very strong performances from the entire cast." Many of those in the cast are no strangers to horror. Meanwhile, Thomas T. Sueyres of Original Vid was unsurprised by the twists within the film: "Zuccon may pull the rug out from under the viewer once too often and one...

It’s hard to push out a fantasy epic these days and have audiences not reject it for being too derivative of what has come before, but I think The Legend of the Red Reaper manages to still find that spot to be entertaining without feeling overly familiar and thus distracting.
Writer/Director/Actress Tara Cardinal’s directorial debut is an entertaining slice of epic high fantasy that proves to be quite rollicking and rousing as it chugs along from killer set piece to killer set piece.
It’s got all the ingredients that you need for a good fantasy tale – strong characters, entertaining sword fights, good versus evil, an ancient prophecy, a strange but yet intriguing fantastical world and of course, one of my favourites – a good dose of violence thrown in for good measure.

The Planet Ethereia blog reports that Tara Cardinal attempted to get Legendary Pictures — producers of Pacific Rim, Man of Steel and Clash of the Titans, amongst other projects — interested in her fantasy project Legend of the Red Reaper. ★☆☆☆☆ Luca Boni and Marco Ristori's abysmal Apocalypse Z (2013) makes recent Brad Pitt blockbuster World War Z (2013), which tried manfully (if impotently) to transpose the walking dead to the mainstream, look like an Oscar-worthy literary adaptation. This slice of Dtv schlock is truly woeful in every way imaginable - and then some. There's really not much of a storyline here, so let's not dwell on it for long. Suffice to say that a group of Neanderthal mercenaries are sent to a remote part of Eastern Europe by the American government, after an accident at a research plant turns the local populace into flesh-eating zombies.
Under the impression that they're there to wipe out the evidence by planting a nuclear bomb, the gang of ex-criminals soon discover that they've been-double crossed by the powers-that-be - and that the zombies are actually the least of their worries. So, let's dissect the evidence...

From the trailers, I expected Wrath of the Crows to be in the vein of the classic Italian exploitation films, and in a way it is, with a generous amount of extreme gore and a scream queen in fetish gear throughout the film. But what I wasn't expecting to see was a very personal, metaphysical exploration of life after death told through heavy symbolism.
The plot of Wrath of the Crows is simple. As a group of people await their fate in an otherworldly prison, they talk among themselves, recall the evil they did during their lives, argue and fight, wonder about the nature of the prison, and endure gruesome tortures. Yes, the plot takes some twists and turns toward the end, but really that's about it.

There aren’t a lot of modern indie movies that feature women in lead roles kicking ass. I mean, there are a handful of major Hollywood films out there — “Haywire,” the “Underworld” franchise, and most movies starring Maggie Q or Milla Jovovich immediately spring to mind — but young girls who are into action flicks currently don’t have a lot of female heroes at their disposal. When you look at the indie film scene, the well is practically dry. And while there are some women kicking copious amounts of ass in independent cinema, they are truly few and far between. In my humble opinion, that’s a damn shame. One lady who’s out there doing her thing is Tara Cardinal. She gets a lot of press here at Beyond Hollywood, and that’s all because she’s trying to make things happen. In addition to teaming up with Lou Ferrigno...

Anthology film The Profane Exhibit has been in the works for some time now, but things are moving along with casting news for the wrap-around along with more detailed descriptions of the various segments and quotes from a few directors. It's a lot of good stuff so prepare to be here awhile.
From the Press Release:
The producers of “The Profane Exhibit” are excited to announce that both Tony Todd (pictured) and Bai Ling have join the long-awaited horror anthology. They will be featured in the cast of "22 Rue des Martyrs," written by Ray Garton, which serves as the film's wrap-around segment.
David Bond and Manda Manuel are the architects of what is likely the most daring independent horror film project to date, both in concept and scope. Legend of the Red Reaper’s Tara Cardinal teamed up with David Williams and producer/ martial artist extraordinaire Sean Wyn to create Scarlet Samurai: Incarnation.
Judging from the trailer, it’s part-co-ed adventure, part- horror fantasy, and part-martial arts action flick. The movie stars Alicen Holden (Dukes of Hazzard), Christian Boeving (Battledome, Zombie Massacre), Maria Olsen (Paranormal Activity 3, Percy Jackson), Horror Cult Icon DeeDee Bigelow (Alien Armageddon, Show Girls 2), Justin Irwin, Patricia Dunn, Catherine Scrivo and Tara Cardinal (Wrath of the Crows, Zombie Massacre) as the Scarlet Samurai.
Synopsis and trailer below:
Five reckless college kids on an urban archaeological expedition uncover a preternatural evil, and discover only a legend can fight a myth..
Almost a century ago, the Buffalo Central Terminal was cursed. Eighty years (and 922 missing persons) later, we find Ikari trying to follow in her (missing) father's archaeological footsteps. But Ikari--a part Chinese, part Japanese, half Jewish lesbian--has problems.

Tara Cardinal is my hero. In addition to filming a handful of indie projects, the “Legend of the Red Reaper” mastermind has been putting some serious work into her Asian-inspired actioner “Scarlet Samurai: Incarnation.” The film appears to have been heavily influenced by the likes of Noboru Iguchi, Yoshihiro Nishimura, and a fair amount of the films released by the likes of Sushi Typhoon. What’s more, Cardinal has this strong Cynthia Rothrock vibe that I kind of dig. Needless to say, that’s precisely why I’m excited about it. While I was away from Beyond Hollywood for a few months, actress and badass extraordinaire Tara Cardinal’s highly-anticipated fantasy flick “Legend of the Red Reaper” got itself a nifty new poster. It’s a pretty impressive slice of promotional artwork, particularly if you’re a fan of women wielding extremely sharp objects. Tara Cardinal is a Renaissance woman in every sense of the word. Actress, model, writer, director, producer, stunt person, wrestler — she's done a bit of everything. And her latest film, The Legend of the Red Reaper, allows her to prove it.
In Red Reaper, Cardinal plays the title character, a warrior witch who's deadly with a sword, but she also produced and, over a period of years, helped shepherd the project to completion. I recently sat down with Cardinal for a talk about being the Red Reaper, working with legends and the brilliance of Uwe Boll.
You've had such a varied career, Tara. But before we get into that, can you talk about your childhood a bit? From my research, it seems to have been somewhat unconventional. For example, you left home at 16?
I try not to talk about my childhood too much, or my family. They prefer it that way,...

When last seen around these parts, fiery haired actress Tara Cardinal was doing her superhero thang alongside Lou Ferrigno in Liberator. But now she's going back in time for a whole different brand of heroics in The Legend of the Red Reaper...and guess what — she's bringing Uwe Boll along for the ride!
Written and directed by Kristen Barron Stewart, Red Reaper is an action-packed tale filled with witches, demons, war and romance — in other words, everything that makes the world of fantasy go round.
Cardinal stars as the titular Reaper, a warrior born of a witch and destined to save mankind from the return of the exiled demon horde. (No, not the Tea Party. That battle has already been fought and won.) Also appearing are David Mackey, Eliza Swenson, Christian Boeving, Shayne Leighton and Troma founder, eminent bon vivant and madman Lloyd Kaufman.
Red Reaper has been Cardinal's passion project for years.

Legend of the Red Reaper had new life breathed into it after the producers jumped ship along with a large amount of the production budget.
The film, written and directed by Kristen Stewart (no relation to the Twilight actress), had a bumpy ride. It was rewritten, recast and the crew was shaken up. According to the most recent press release, “Houses were foreclosed, some body parts donated to science - but the money was raised to tell a story that I believe in with my heart soul (and some long lost body parts).”
Eventually Uwe Boll came on board as producer.

There is no hope! Why do we all hate Uwe Boll when he’s such a hillarious man? I mean, really, let’s give him a break, his latest Zombie Massacre looks quite cool. Except, it’s not all (sorry, man!) about Boll this time, because Marco Ristori and Luca Boni were also in charge. They directed, of course, while Boll served as a producer. Oh, who am I kidding – Boll stars in the whole thing as (take a seat, please!) the president of the Us! Ok, that’s it – I’m officialy in love with this man! In a zombie kind of way…

Zombie Massacre is Uwe Boll's latest film. Boll is a producer on this picture and he also has a screen credit as the American President. Picturing Boll as the President is a true nightmare. Even more nightmarish is this first official trailer for the film. In the clip, a super soldier, produced by the American government, is inadvertently unleashed on a local populace. A team of mercenaries are sent in to restore order. Who will win the day: the undead or these rogue soldiers? Zombie Massacre is based on a video game from Benjamin Krotin, which is scheduled for release in 2012 through 1988 Games. However, as 2012 draws to an end, an official release date for the game has not been confirmed. For now, forget the joystick and enjoy the film's reel below. Apparently directors Luca Boni and Marco Ristori’s “Zombie Massacre” (with assist from the world-infamous Uwe Boll, who also co-stars as the President of the United States … of course) is based on a videogame. I have never heard of said videogame, but I’ll take their word for it. Mind you, not that it matters, really. Check out the latest trailer for “Zombie Massacre”, which features hordes of zombies, Tara Cardinal as a ninja chick, and what appears to be a super zombie. Super zombies, sheesh. Just when you think the regular zombies were bad enough, a super zombie goes and shows up and ruins everything. I haven’t a clue what’s going on in this trailer, to be perfectly honest with you, but here’s a helpful little synopsis to get you caught up: A bacteriological weapon developed by the Us Government to create a super soldier – spreads...

Uwe Boll has produced a new undead epic called Zombie Massacre which we last updated you about nearly a year ago (!). At that time, a teaser trailer was released. Ah, today, however, we now have a trailer for the film directed by Marco Ristori and Luca Boni.

In the film, a bacteriological weapon – developed by the U.S. Government to create a super soldier – spreads an epidemic in a quiet little town in the middle of Eastern Europe, Roznov. All citiziens have been turned into infected zombies. The town is in quarantine, but the Government wants to destroy it to avoid the propagation of the epidemic. Because FedEx will totally demagnetize all your footage and not reimburse you for your work or the irreplaceable footage.
Terminal Descent is a film we've covered on the Pf recently, so were were horrified to find out that the raw footage of the film has actually been destroyed by the magnetization process that FedEx uses to scan their packages.
Can you imagine putting god only knows how much money and how much time into making an independent film, and having FedEx fuck it all up for you in one fell swoop?
Filmmaker and actress Tara Cardinal was set to receive a package containing the magnetized digital film tapes for the sci-fi flick Terminal Descent in August 2012. Two weeks later, on her Facebook page, Tara Cardinal wrote,

Word around the campfire is that director David R. Williams’ upcoming horror flick “Terminal Descent” was shot in just three days. That’s pretty amazing. For a movie that was lensed in 72 hours, it honestly doesn’t look that bad. Of course, it always helps when you have an actress like Tara Cardinal on your side. Regardless of how the movie plays out, Cardinal always seems to give it her all. Although there isn’t a whole lot of information about the flick currently floating around at the moment, we do know that the story involves a group of urban explorers and their encounter with some blood-thirsty creatures inside the abandoned Buffalo Central Terminal. According to the date stamped on the picture’s IMDb page, it would appear that “Terminal Descent” isn’t scheduled to see the light of day until sometime next year. I suppose we’ll have to wait.

Bad guys beware. There's a brand-new superhero in town. He's called the Liberator and he's played by Lou Ferrigno, a guy with more than a little experience in the realm of comic book heroes.
Liberator is the story of Ed Migliocetti (Ferrigno), an ex-pro football player who gave up his career to join the military. After being drafted into the "Enhanced Abilities Initiative," Ed was dubbed the Liberator and teamed with a group of fellow "supers" known as Sidewinder, Gaia and Volt. Though he soon found himself doing the government's dirty work — assassinations, regime changes, infrastructure sabotage — Ed followed orders. He was a good soldier.
But when a mission went bad, Ed was set up as the fall guy and sent to prison as a traitor. After a decade behind bars, Ed is released and determined to set the record straight. But his efforts aren't appreciated by those who threw him under the bus.

You know, I don’t want to be friends with someone who simply cannot get excited about a short film starring Lou Ferrigno, Don “The Dragon” Wilson, and Ed Asner. In fact, I refuse to believe that such a human being actually exists. If you haven’t seen the full trailer for writer/director Aaron Pope’s “Liberator” here’s a perfect opportunity to correct this problem. The solution resides in the space provided below. Everything you need to know about the picture is contained in the aforementioned clip, so I’ll forgo the usual plot synopsis. Strange, I know. “Liberator”, which also stars Peta Wilson, Michael Dorn, and Tara Cardinal, will debut at the Holly Shorts Film Festival in Hollywood, California on August 11th, 2012. On your way out, swing by the official Facebook page. If you desire info, then that’s the place to be...

We just got hold of the trailer and some production stills from Terminal Descent, a new horror flick starring the tough and talented Tara Cardinal, and all I can say is: See what happens when you don't pay attention to "No Trespassing" signs?
Directed by David R. Williams and starring Cardinal, Alicen Holden, Justin Irwin and Patricia M. Dunn, Terminal Descent focuses on a group of urban exploration enthusiasts (aka curious young thrill seekers who should pay more attention to "No Trespassing" signs) that get in over their head when they explore a mammoth abandoned train station and discover it to be the resting place of some very nasty, very hungry creatures.
Cardinal is one of the hardest working and, thanks to her glorious red tresses, most identifiable actresses on today's indie horror scene, yet she's almost unrecognizable here. As Ikari, the group's leader, Cardinal displays her usual commanding presence,...

Independent filmmakers could learn a thing or two from director Luca Boni and Marco Ristori’s upcoming action/horror flick “Zombie Massacre”. If you want to keep people interested in your flick, you have to keep the buzz going. A good way to make that happen is to the hungry masses more behind-the-scenes photos and footage than they can handle. With smartphones and apps like Instragram, there’s really no reason not to make this happen. And to whoever updates the film’s official Facebook page: Keep up the great work. I’ll definitely be back for more. “Zombie Massacre” stars Christian Boeving, Jon Campling, Mike Mitchell, Gerry Shanahan, Daniel Vivian, and Tara Cardinal, the latter of whom can be found wielding some pretty deadly weaponry in the batch of pics you see below. In case you haven’t heard, the film is based on the video game by 1988 Games,...

There are a lot of zombie movies coming out this year, but only one of them is directed by “Eaters: Rise of the Dead” masterminds Luca Boni and Marco Ristori. “Zombie Massacre”, the duo’s latest undead-related endeavor, is being proudly presented to the world by Uwe Boll. However, don’t let the “House of the Dead” director’s involvement dissuade you from checking this one out. “Eaters” was a pretty badass movie, and from the looks of things, their latest effort seems to have been fashioned from the same mold. That’s a good thing, by the way. The film is loosely based on the video game by 1988 Games, which is about a group of police officers who are charged with delivering a nuclear bomb into a zombie-infested city. The adaptation stars Christian Boeving, Jon Campling, Mike Mitchell, Gerry Shanahan, Daniel Vivian, and the lovely Tara Cardinal. You can...

Producers David Bond and Manda Manuel have been working on "The Profane Exhibit," which is a collection of thirteen international short horror films by different directors. Today, we have a first look at Uwe Boll's contribution, called "Basement," which stars Caroline Williams (Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2), Tara Cardinal and Clint Howard. Plot: Howard and Williams play a married couple with an ordinary life - except for the fact that they keep their starving and abused daughter in a locked basement room that she has not left in years. In this perverse nightmare scenario that is unfortunately based on fact, all the young daughter (Cardinal) wants to do is go outside and into the sun. Instead she must endure daily cruelties. This is a tale of sexual depravity and psychological torture and a subversive look at the depraved realities of suburban life. The company behind the film says that "Basement" may...

The Profane Exhibit is an anthology of 13 horror films from different countries. My favorite German director, Uwe Boll, made his about that really sick story about an Austrian father who locked his daughter in the basement and raped her.
You Know Boll has been dying to make a film about this since he first heard the story in 2008. Apparently, an Austrian man decided to rape his daughter, repeatedly, and locked her in a basement for 24 years. 24 Years. She had kids down there, and everything. Neighbors didn't know, no one knew. Even his wife, the girl's mother, claimed not to know exactly what happened. How fucked is that?
So fucked that Boll knew he needed to film it.
I'm not sure excatly what The Profane Exhibit is, except that is seems to be some kind of anthology of short horror frolm 13 different directors. Interesting to note, one of the directors is a woman,...

Tiffany Shepis, Debbie Rochon, and Tara Cardinal? In the same blood-soaked motion picture? Where in the hell do I sign up? Below you’ll find a nasty little trailer for director Ivan Zuccon’s upcoming endeavor “Wrath of the Crows”, a torture horror flick that, to be perfectly honest, doesn’t look half bad. The whole handkerchief bit is pretty clever, and, like I said, you can’t go wrong with Shepis, Rochon, and Cardinal. I mean, I guess you could, but I seriously doubt it. Anyway, read this synopsis: In a dirty and narrow jail, Larry (Domiziano Arcangeli), Deborah (Debbie Rochon), Hugo (Brian Fortune), Hernest (John Game) and Liza (Tara Cardinal), the prisoners, are obliged to suffer injustices from the guards and from their chief, the officer.
