Bill Bailey has said that Jeremy Clarkson “got the kicking he deserved” over his column about Meghan Markle in The Sun.
The piece has become the Independent Press Standards Organisation’s (Ipso) most complained-about article, and has attracted criticism from high-profile figures, politicians, and his own daughter, Emily Clarkson.
In the column, Clarkson wrote that he dreamt of the day that the duchess would be made to parade naked through Britain while a crowd chanted “shame” and threw “excrement” at her.
The former Top Gear presenter, 62, claimed that “everyone who’s my age thinks the same way”.
Bailey, 57, is the latest celebrity to weigh in on the controversy.
In an interview with The Telegraph, which took place days after Clarkson issued an apology for the piece, the comedian said: “That was classic Twitter.”

Taylor Swift’s latest album, Midnights, has sold so many copies on vinyl that the format has outsold CDs.
This is the first time that the sales of vinyl have beaten the sales of CDs since the 1980s.

Modest Mouse has been helping lead music festivals since 2011 without a new album to promote. It looks like about now is the time they... start promoting an album. "Strangers to Ourselves" will be out on March and on Dec. 16, the first single "Lampshades on Fire" will hit (virtual) shelves. And it's that song that the group has actually managed to preview in these past three years as their most recent work. To celebrate, Modest Mouse apparently shipped out vinyl singles of the songs to select fans ahead of Tuesday's release. "We want you to have this limited test pressing of our new single 'Lampshades On Fire.' The song will be available for purchase tomorrow, Tuesday, December 16," read a typed note that accompanied the single. "'Lampshades on Fire' is the first single from our new album Strangers to Ourselves, which will be released on Tuesday, March 3, 2015." The single is also...

Did you ever watch an episode of, say, "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" and there's a young kid in the family and the designer asks "What do you like?" and kid's like "I like baseball and blah blah blah," and then all of a sudden when the reveal happens, the kid's room is Entirely covered in baseball wallpaper and decals and baseballs and paraphernalia and you think, man, they are just gonna outgrow that if you shove it down their throats. We were like that kid -- "I liked the Blue album and 'Pinkerton!'" -- when it comes to Weezer and it was iterated enough that Weezer heard. The Blue album came out in 1994, "Pinkerton" in 1996. Is your Christmas feeling a little bit safe, ordinary and routine? Are you looking for something decidedly different, or maybe a little freaky? Leave it to The Flaming Lips to spike your eggnog. Way back in 2008, the tripped out Oklahoma City band dropped their long-in-the-works feature film, "Christmas On Mars." Though the production values on the 16mm, black-and-white movie weren't high, it was just as odd as you might expect, with the movie telling the story of an astronaut colony hallucinating inside a dying space outpost on Mars. The result? As our review from way back when basically sums up, it's an interesting experiment rather than a completely satisfying or fully realized project (which is sorta the case for many things from The Flaming Lips camp). Still, the Wayne Coyne and Brad Beesley co-directed movie boasts cameos by Fred Armisen and Adam Goldberg (though scenes shot by Elijah Wood and...

Oscar- and Grammy-winning composer Hans Zimmer will work with Pharrell Williams, Johnny Marr, Michael Einziger, and Dave Stewart to create music for The Amazing Spider-Man™ 2, it was announced today by Lia Vollack, president of Worldwide Music for Sony Pictures. The film, directed by Marc Webb from a screen story and screenplay by Alex Kurtzman & Roberto Orci & Jeff Pinkner based on the Marvel Comic Book by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, is produced by Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will be released in theaters domestically on May 2, 2014, and international release dates commence April 16, 2014.
Commenting on the announcement, Zimmer said, “Marc and I were talking about Spider-Man, and as the word got out, so many of our friends and musicians started calling us up, wanting to be a part of it, because they love Spider-Man. That was the thing that united all of us – the great love for Spider-Man.

Hans Zimmer and Pharrell Williams -- known as one half of production duo The Neptunes and pretty much this past summer's sole musical king (remember Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines" and Daft Punk's "Get Lucky" and "Lose Yourself to Dance"?) -- have made beautiful movie music together before.
The two teamed up for the soundtrack to "Despicable Me," with Williams penning a handful of lovable, hum-along songs (Williams returned for the sequel, Zimmer did not), and Williams even provided drums for Zimmer's militaristic "Man of Steel" score. So it's not all that surprising that they would reteam for next summer's "The Amazing Spider-Man 2." What is kind of a shock is who they brought along for the ride.
The group that will be scoring "Amazing Spider-Man 2" is a veritable who's-who of insanely talented contemporary musicians. Joining Williams and Zimmer are former Smiths guitarist (and sometime Modest Mouse member) Johnny Marr,...

In a recent interview, ex-Smiths and Modest Mouse guitarist Johnny Marr confessed that he really didn’t ‘get’ the hairy and theatrical rock gods Queen.
This is a more common reason for not liking an act than you would think – it’s possible to be able to appreciate the musical merits of an artist, and accept that there a smorgasbord of reasons that they are so massively popular, and still have them leave you as cold as a snow leopard that’s forgotten to pay its heating bill.
In that spirit, here are 10 acts that are massively popular in their own right, but leave me feeling no emotion other than utter indifference towards them.
10. Pink Floyd
The Dark Side of the Moon is a decent album-decent, no more, no less. I can see why they sold millions of records, but I’ve listened to The Wall and Wish You Were Here...

With practically every month now marking the 20th anniversary of yet another “classic” alternative era album -- "In Utero" is next up to bat -- '90s nostalgia is, shall we say, in bloom.
But not every band from back then were iconic rule breakers a la Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins or Blur. And the decade’s lesser lights are now rearing their frosted-tipped heads for one more kick at the can, too.
This summer the Goo Goo Dolls and Matchbox 20 hit the road as part of a joint summer tour. So has Under the Sun, a summer-long, alt-rock lite package tour featuring Sugar Ray, Smash Mouth, Gin Blossoms, Vertical Horizon and Fastball (the lineup is a holdover from the failed Mark McGrath and Friends Cruise). These bands, radio and sales heavies from the mid-to late-’90s, join a wave of acts like Soundgarden, Blink-182, The Breeders and No Doubt...

It's a well-known fact that fans of popular '80s English band The Smiths are voracious in their desire for a reunion. Johnny Marr, the group's guitarist, has heard your requests, and he would like you all to find something better to do with your time.
"If people get genuinely upset and frustrated that four men that last played together 25 years ago are doing other things, then those people need to go and find a hobby," Marr reportedly told Japan Times. "If the band only split up two years ago, it might be a different matter, but 25 years? Come on. It's a long time. If you like The Smiths, the records, photographs and memories are all plenty to be getting along with."
Marr's comments once again quash the dream of a reunion, even if drummer Mike Joyce and the Coachella organizers think it could still happen.

Like many of his fellow British musicians, Johnny Marr has very strong opinions on recently deceased British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. "My thoughts are that if you see the word 'Thatcherism,' it’s not a word that stands for something good," Marr told Rolling Stone when we met him in his trailer backstage at Coachella. "I don’t think there’s any getting around that."
The guitarist was particularly put off by praise from the current regime in England. "I thought that the British government’s statement that she made Britain great again was false and really arrogant because everybody knows, left or right, that Margaret Thatcher didn’t make Britain great," he said. "If that was the case then why isn’t it? I felt like that was very, very disrespectful to generations of families who have never recovered from her legacy.

It's that time of year again. The annual three-day music and arts festival held out in Indio, Calif. called Coachella. Headliners include the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Vampire Weekend and Modest Mouse, and among the celebrity attendees is one Lindsay Lohan, taking in the festival before she heads for her 90-day rehab stint.
TMZ is reporting that Lilo tells friends she will be able to attend Coachella and remain clean and sober. She's just going for the music and wants to have fun before her rehab stay. Reportedly, Lohan doesn't think she has a problem with drugs or alcohol.
Still, it seems like Coachella might be the best place for someone about to go to rehab. It's not exactly known as a drug and alcohol-free zone. The festival kicks off Friday, April 12 and runs through Sunday, April 14.
Lohan is expected to report to Seafield Center for rehab sometime in the coming weeks.

The record takes its inspiration from a smart work on self-examination, Nathanael West's novel "Miss Lonelyhearts." "'Dear Miss Lonelyhearts' is taken from a book about an advice columnist who has a crisis about his readers suffering and his inability to truly help them unless he examines himself," vocalist Nathan Willett told HuffPost. "The struggle of his character worked their way into many of the songs."
But since this is the Cold War Kids we're talking about, the "struggles" come to listeners in the form of well-tailored, drum-heavy tracks that offset Willett's sometimes-mournful, sometimes-elated but always haunting voice. That blend of highs and lows has...
