The Golden Globes will have only 199 voters for this year’s awards, 101 short of the target that had been set to expand the voting pool since the Hollywood Foreign Press Association was bought by Todd Boehly this year and committed to significant reforms.
The Globes has 96 voting members, fully 18 of whom hold emeritus status as retirees, according to the group’s spokesman. The now for-profit organization also lists 103 international voters from a variety of countries — nonmembers of the HFPA who are allowed to cast ballots in an attempt to make the voting body larger and more diverse. While this roster was announced in September, no additional names have been added for this year’s awards to meet the total that Boehly had sought.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association has added 103 new international voters to consider the Golden Globe Awards, the group said Thursday.
This signifies the first time in the association’s history that a group of non-member voters has been added to select the nominees and awards, doubling the size of the voting body while increasing its diversity.
“After bringing in our largest member class last year with 21 diverse members, it was clear we had to find new opportunities to bring in additional voters to ensure the continued diversification and growth in the voting body,” HFPA president Helen Hoehne said. “The addition of new non-member voters drawn from international markets gives us the opportunity to more rapidly increase the number of voters, while preserving our international identity and maintaining the commitment to bring in qualified and experienced entertainment journalists.”

“Home Alone” and “Better Call Saul” actor Devin Ratray, who is already facing domestic assault charges in Oklahoma, has been accused of raping a woman in his New York City apartment in 2017.
According to CNN, a woman named Lisa Smith has come forward with the accusation — and to complain that New York Police Department detectives spent time gathering evidence and interviewing potential witnesses five years ago — and then abandoned the case without action or explanation.
The NYPD repeatedly declined to comment to TheWrap on whether there is an active investigation into Ratray.
Ratray, who played Macaulay Culkin’s “bully” older brother in the first two “Home Alone” movies, has never been charged in the New York case. He did not immediately respond to TheWrap’s request for comment, but denied the rape allegation in a phone call to CNN.

Husam Asi, a BBC Cinematic presenter and member of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), told Sky News over the weekend that recent backlash against the Golden Globes voting organization “mostly stems from jealously” among journalists upset they do not get the same perks and level of access to filmmakers and actors as members of the HFPA do. The HFPA came under fire in the week leading up to the 2021 Golden Globes, not only for the revelation that it lacks a single Black member but also for claims that votes can be influenced through gifts.
A report published by the Los Angeles Times noted that HFPA members were “routinely granted exclusive access to Hollywood power players, invited to junkets in exotic locales, put up in five-star hotels and, as Globes nominations near, lavished with gifts, dinners, and star-studded parties.”
Such was the case with “Emily in Paris,” the production for...
