With just one more week before the live playoffs in Season 4 of "The Voice," it's time for the knockout rounds, wherein coaches Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Shakira and Usher once again force one of their artists to compete another, deciding who stays and who goes. Who will make it to the live shows? Only time will tell.
First Knockout: Team Adam - Amber Carrington vs. Midas Whale
Songs: "I'm With You" - Avril Lavigne (Amber); "Higher Ground" - Stevie Wonder (Midas Whale)
Performances: Amber sounds incredible on Avril's overused and, at times, tepid track. It's nice to hear her step outside of the country zone we've heard her in thus far. I hadn't been too fond of Midas Whale prior to this, finding them to play more the role of backup artists in their battle rounds. It was nice to have them put down the guitars and put on a show.

It was a strong night of dueling performances for Team Adam and Team Shakira, which are now down to just four acts each after the first night of knockout rounds on The Voice.
Making tough choices with powerhouse singers – no steals, no saves – the judges admitted Monday that playing favorites and saying goodbye was ruining their night. But decisions had to be made.
Amber Carrington beat out quirky duo Midas Whale with a nuanced and powerful turn on Avril Lavigne's hit "I'm With You." Levine called her the "biggest surprise on my team" and said, "Every day we see...

Monday night (April 22) saw the start of week two of battle rounds in Season 4 of "The Voice," and that meant it was time once again for coaches Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Usher and Shakira to pair up two of their artists only to cruelly kill the dreams of one of them later. Let's take a look back at all the crushed hopes, shall we?
Team Usher: Jessica Childress vs. Vedo
Song: Bruno Mars' "Locked Out Of Heaven"
The Performance: Vedo is smooth as can be, with a falsetto that gave me the shivers, but there's just something so darn likable about Jessica. This battle was incredible, but I've got such a penchant for a strong diva. When it comes down to personal preference, which it almost has to when both artists are this good, I've got to give it to Jessica. Also, her offer to "bro down" with Adam?...

The battle rounds on "The Voice" have proven to be a formidable beast. Two people are paired together to compete head-to-head on one song, singing at the same time. These two artists, one of whom will be deemed a loser and sent packing, must find a way to perform as a cohesive unit, while still proving their the one to keep. Some contestants stomp all over their opponent to assert their dominance; others fade away, unable to rise to the challenge. But every so often, there's a third result: The two competitors create a duet that becomes more than just the sum of its parts. That's exactly what Luke Edgemon and Monique Abbadie did on Monday night's (April 22) episode.
Tasked by their coach Shakira to sing Lady Gaga's "You and I," Edgemon and Abbadie performed with aplomb. Never overpowering one another, the two created a cohesive, synced-up performance that...

As the second week of battle rounds began on The Voice Monday, talented singers swapped teams, proving the competition is as tight as it's ever been.
The night's soulful finale, pitting Team Usher's Orlando Dixon against Ryan Innes made for a rousing and inspired finish. The competitors, matching Innes's blues prowess against Dixon's technical mastery of R&B, left no doubt that winning season 4 will be tough.
Singing Bill Withers's "Ain't No Sunshine," the men put on an impassioned show, featuring dueling runs, falsettos and raw emotional power. After much deliberating, Usher chose Innes, praising his conviction and depth,...

Can you call 911 and report a non-robbery? Because that’s kinda sorta what I feel like doing after watching a pair of awesome vocalists get booted, then left to languish on the side of the road without a patented “Steal” from a competing coach, during The Voice‘s Battle Rounds tonight.
I can’t be alone in scratching my head that spunky Jessica Childress and growl-monster Patrick Dodd won’t be part of the Season 4 Knockout Rounds, right? Especially when the sweet-yet-pedestrian C. Perkins somehow hit the reality singing competition Powerball and got a second chance on Team Usher.
But hey,...

Usher and Blake fought tooth and nail over Luke, who Shakira dropped from her team on the April 22 episode. It was so much fun to watch these guys get so heated and you’ll never believe whose team Luke decided to join!
Luke Edgemon was the man of the hour during the April 22 episode of The Voice. When he got in the ring, he battled Monique Abbadie and they sang Lady Gaga’s song “You and I.” It was so much fun to watch and it was really cool to see Luke come into his own. Even though Shakira didn’t end up picking him, he caused a fight between Blake Shelton and Usher.
Usher & Blake Fight Over Luke Edgemon
Luke was a former backup singer for Queen Latifah and Mary J. Blige, so it’s clear he has talent. During the blind auditions, Usher and Shakira fought for him and he went with Shakira.

After three thrilling weeks of Blind Auditions, NBC’s hit singing competition “The Voice” returns this week with its anticipated “Battle Rounds,” in which contestants go voice-to-voice against their own teammates for a spot to the next round.
As the show moves forward, however, it’s certainty spotlighted a growing trend in English-language talent competitions. Since Colombian superstar Shakira joined the show for season 4, audiences have seen a rise in Spanish-language auditions from competitors.
Latina singers Cathia, Monique Abbadie, and Mary Miranda highlighted their singing chops by choosing Spanish songs for the Blind Auditions (all three joined Team Shakira, of course) and Florida-based rocker Karina Iglesias added a Spanish bridge to Melissa Etheridge’s “I’m The Only One” and was picked up by Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine.
But these four Hispanic ladies are definitely not the first to grab the coaches’ attention whilst singing in their native tongue.

Choosing to audition for a show like "The Voice" by singing one of the coach's songs takes some serious guts. On the April 1 episode of NBC's hit show, Monique Abbadie proved she had cajones to spare when she took the stage with Shakira's "Loca."
The 20-year-old former child actor (she starred in Spanish language variety shows "Sabada Gigante" and "El Show de Lucky") showed host Carson Daly a photo of herself with the Latina superstar she was about to audition for when she attended one of Shakira's concerts at age 10. That, coupled with the announcement of her intended audition song, make it clear whose team Abbadie was gunning for.
Though Shakira showed some initial hesitation (the face she makes when she first hears Abbadie rip into her song is priceless), she began dancing in her chair and eventually turned around -- as did fellow coaches Blake Shelton, Adam Levine,...

Christina Aguilera and Cee-Lo Green who? The amazing chemistry among Usher, Shakira, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton on season four of ‘The Voice’ has me jumping for joy. Find out why I love the new judging panel.
The Voice experienced an image overhaul this season as Christina Aguilera and Cee-Lo Green exited the series at the end of season three to focus on their music careers. They have admitted they may be back for season five, but I hope their absence is permanent. With the additions of Usher and Shakira, the singing competition show is experiencing its best ratings yet and, frankly, it’s so much more enjoyable to watch.
The Judges Support One Another
While Christina and Adam Levine often bickered in the previous three seasons, the judges seem to support one another this season. They’re genuinely happy when another judge succeeds.

The third night was the charm for a new crop of The Voice contestants, who covered Tom Petty, Mary J. Blige, Katy Perry – and even songs by judges Shakira and Blake Shelton Monday night.
But there was also heartbreak: Julie Roberts, a gold-record selling country artist who hit fame in 2004 – only to be dropped by her label in 2010 – failed to turn the chairs of any judges in a comeback bid, even as she sang Shelton's "God Gave Me You."
"She just kind of fell through the cracks in the business and it's not fair," Shelton said of her talents once...

It’s not every day a reality singing competition audition can make you feel like you’re about to burst with excitement when, deep down, you not only know the immediate outcome for the contestant, but also his or her long-term prognoisis.
And yet that’s exactly what happened tonight on The Voice when Blake Shelton and Adam Levine played an extended game of chicken — Aka “if you press your button, I’ll press my button!” — over Florida music teacher Karina Iglesias’s pitch-challenged peculiar rendition of Melissa Etheridge’s “I’m the Only One.”
Of course the bromancing buddies...

It may be April Fool’s Day, but the singers on ‘The Voice’ are no joke. So when a new talent comes on stage that all four judges love, the gloves are off!
Night three of the blind auditions once again was full of talent. From country brothers, to rock star teens, The Voice brought entertaining performers for the judges to fight over… and Adam Levine and Shakira weren’t holding back! Plus, the judges worked together to force country artists not to chose Blake Shelton! Did they succeed?
Adam Levine Backs Usher’s Choices
When 17-year-old Taylor Beckham took the stage, she turned the chairs of a very excited Usher and Shakira. So, when it was time to convince her to choose, it turned into a full-on battle.
Shakira used the fact that she — like Taylor, used to be a gymnast (and said she could put her feet behind her head,...
