One of the most infamous cold cases in recent history is set to become the subject of a scripted series.
MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios — the producers of Yellowstone and its assorted spinoffs — are developing a limited series about the killing of JonBenét Ramsey. The project is in its early stages and doesn’t have an outlet attached yet.
Writers Harrison Query and Tommy Wallach sold the project to MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios and will be executive producers. Richard Lagravenese (Behind the Candelabra, Unbroken) will be the showrunner and will also executive produce.
The currently untitled series will “detail the mysterious death and the surrounding media frenzy in the murder of JonBenét Ramsey, a case that captivated an entire nation and left us with more questions than answers,” according to the show’s logline.

Elizabeth Vargas is Hunting JonBenét's Killer for her new A&E series The Untold Story. In the exclusive clip above, Vargas interviews JonBenét Ramsey's father, John Ramsey, in Utah, and point blank tells him there are still people who believe he, or his son Burke Ramsey or late wife Patsy Ramsey had something to do with his daughter's murder. "How could they have believed otherwise because that's what they're told. Even if we have a conviction, a confession and this person's in prison, there's going to be 5, 10 percent of the population that still thinks we're guilty. That's a given," Ramsey says in the exclusive preview above. Ramsey, 75, lost his wife...

JonBenet Ramsey’s brother has settled his $750 million defamation lawsuit against CBS and others over a 2016 docuseries that pegged him as her killer. Burke Ramsey’s attorney told Reuters that the case has been settled but gave no details.
“I can only comment that the case has been amicably resolved to the satisfaction of all parties,” Lin Wood told the news agency in a phone interview today. A CBS spokesman confirmed the settlement to Reuters.
Burke Ramsey was 10 when his 6-year-old beauty queen sister was found dead in the family’s Boulder, Co, home at Christmastime in 1996. He also was suing production company Critical Content and a number of consultants involved with true-crime docuseries The Case of: JonBenét Ramsey, which aired in September 2016.
Saying his reputation was destroyed by the four-hour program, he was seeking $250M in compensatory damages and twice that in punitive damages.

There's not much left to say about the 1996 murder of JonBenét Ramsey – but that hasn't stopped people from talking about it. Though the brutal, unsolved murder of the six-year-old pageant queen has been a cultural fixation for more than 20 years, the anniversary last December saw a surge of books, movies, and TV series rehashing theories about who was behind one ofthe most disturbing crimes of the 1990s.

Exactly 20 years ago today, JonBenét Ramsey's parents saw their little girl alive one last time. Nearly eight hours after Patsy Ramsey claimed she discovered a lengthy, handwritten ransom note that catalyzed the chilling 911 call alerting authorities to the 6-year-old's disappearance, JonBenét's body was found in the basement of the family's Boulder, Colo. home—asphyxiated and her skull fractured. There was no need for John Ramsey to withdraw $118,000 from his bank account, as the alleged kidnappers requested for the safe return of his daughter. There was no need for her father to rest up for the...

Court documents released on Oct. 25 revealed a shocking new detail in the JonBenet Ramsey murder case! The indictment record says the grand jury voted to indict the girl’s parents and found that the girl’s death came as a result of her parents’ recklessness.
JonBenet Ramsey was brutally murdered in 1996 and her parents stood trial in 1999 — but no one was prosecuted. The jury voted to indict the 6-year-old girl’s parents when they found that her father John Ramsey and her late mother, Patsy Ramsey to be accessories to the crime. This shocking detail was only made public on Oct. 25 because the prosecutor never acted out this indictment, citing insufficient evidence.

Call him Mr. Cautious. Boulder, Colo., District Attorney Stan Garnett isn't about to make the same mistakes as his two predecessors by opening or closing the umbrella of suspicion on any suspects in the unsolved murder of 6-year-old JonBenét Ramsey. In a recent interview, Garnett tells People the Boulder Police Department's task force met for the first time last week, and it's "a very impressive group." He says it was "a worthwhile couple of days," but when it comes to making promises on what comes next, Garnett goes back to what constituents told him back on the campaign trail: "Don't...

The syndicated newsmagazines got a ratings bump during the week ending Aug. 20 with their coverage of the Jonbenet Ramsey murder case arrest. Nearly all of the newsmagazines were up from the previous week and from the same period a year ago thanks to their coverage related to John Mark Karr, who was arrested Aug. 16 in Bangkok, Thailand, as a suspect in the murder of 6-year-old Ramsey nearly a decade ago. The Boulder (Colo.) County District Attorney's office has since ruled that DNA evidence shows that Karr, who had confessed to the murder when he was arrested, could not have been the killer. Top-rated newsmagazine "Entertainment Tonight" averaged a 4.4 household rating, according to Nielsen Media Research. That figure is up 5% from the show's previous weekly rating and up 7% from a year ago. Helping boost the ratings was an interview with Pam Paugh, the sister of JonBenet's mother, the late Patsy Ramsey.
