As European soccer kicked off on Sunday, rumors began to fly of an impending announcement from 12 of the world’s most powerful soccer clubs revealing plans to form a new midweek competition, the European Super League (Esl).
My two favorite teams, Manchester United in England and Atletico de Madrid in Spain, both won important games in their fights at the top of their respective leagues, but there was little time to enjoy the victories as late Sunday evening, far later than was rumored, the official announcement was made, and both of my clubs showed up on the list of Esl “founding clubs.”
Despite the cowardly timing of the confirmation — with many fans already tucked into bed across Europe — the backlash was immediate and furious. Fans, clubs, former players, leagues and even heads of state lined up to decry the very idea of the competition. On Tuesday evening, as U.K.

Melissa Joan Hart has reached a settlement with a former talent manager who sued her last year over claimed commissions from the hit ABC Family series Melissa & Joey. Terms of the settlement were not released. Kieran Maguire alleged in his lawsuit that he was hired in August 2006 when Hart's career was "dwindling," and that for five years, until being fired in March 2011, he rescued her job prospects. “Melissa Joan Hart has no heart," read Maguire's complaint, which sought 10 percent of her salary on Melissa & Joey as per a claimed oral agreement. Melissa Joan Hart's former talent manager is suing her for refusing to pay him his cut of her earnings on the ABC Family sitcom Melissa & Joey (which, I'd imagine, adds up to approximately $2 and a Groupon for an ear candling). The manager, Kieran Maguire, asserts in the opening line: "Melissa Joan Hart has no heart." Nice.

Maguire alleges that when the former Sabrina The Teenage Witch star hired him in 2006, she orally agreed to pay him the standard 10%. When she failed, he got mad.
“This case is one more incident of an actress who seeks to take advantage of, mistreat and thumb her nose at those in her employ — in this instance the person who rescued her career as it was plummeting towards obscurity."

Melissa Joan Hart is facing a lawsuit from her former manager who alleges she owes him commission payments.
Kieran Maguire filed papers at Los Angeles Superior Court on Wednesday claiming he entered into a verbal agreement with the star for his management services in 2006, following the end of her series Sabrina The Teenage Witch.
The talent agent claims he negotiated a number of lucrative jobs for Hart, including a slot on Dancing With The Stars and her latest TV show Melissa & Joey.
Maguire insists he was paid his rightful commissions for the first series of Melissa & Joey, but alleges he was fired in March without warning and is owed payment for the rest of her time on the show, according to Deadline.com.
The lawsuit is seeking commission for all Hart's appearances on Melissa & Joey.

Looks like former "Sabrina, the Teenage Witch" star Melissa Joan Hart might have to counsel up some legal assistance. Hart's former manager, Kieran Maguire, filed suit against Hart in Los Angeles Superior Court on Thursday, claiming breach of oral contract, fraud and unjust enrichment, among other alleged infractions. "Melissa Joan Hart has no heart, as evidenced by this action," the suit begins, rather fancifully. Read the full lawsuit here. According to the suit, Maguire became Hart's manager in August 2006 and quickly revived Hart's career from its post-"Sabrina" doldrums. "Indeed, Maguire's advice and counsel was...

Talent manager Kieran Maguire filed suit Wednesday against Melissa Joan Hart, asserting colorfully that she “has no heart” for taking advantage of his services and then ditching him “once her popularity was brought back from obscurity.” Maquire says he and Hart entered into a verbal standard agreement for his management services in 2006 — after her series Sabrina The Teenage Witch ended a few years prior. The breach of contract suit filed in L.A. Superior Court points out that Hart agreed to pay and continued to pay Maguire 10% of her earnings for subsequent years during which Maguire says he worked closely with her talent agents, publicists, business managers, attorneys and others in guiding her career. As examples of fostering her progress Maguire cites Hart’s guest appearances on TV shows such as Dancing With the Stars, her participation in ad campaigns for Kellogg’s, Huggies, Pillsbury and Gain laundry detergent, a...
