For this week’s auto blog we’re heading into teenager territory and this inevitably means a less than mean motor. Think Bella’s rusty Chevrolet truck in Twilight. In Hollywood youth equals a pile of rust and so we’ve gone with a contender for naffest movie car ever – the Yugo Gv from current teen hit Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist. Belonging to clean-cut Nick (Michael Cera), the car, painted a none-too-subtle bright yellow suggests not only his grim finances but also his less-than-cool credentials. “It wasn’t hard to find the only Yugo in the city,” mocks his ex-girlfriend Tris (Fool’s Gold’s Alexis Dziena). “I think it’s the only Yugo in the country,” he answers and he could be right, this 1980s Yugoslavian budget car isn’t a commonplace sight.
“The Yugo is a rare Yugoslavian budget automobile from the late 80s,” explains director Peter Sollett.
