Toronto-based Fatal Pictures is a independent production company founded by producer Zach Green and writer/director Richard Powell. In just a few short years, writer/director Richard Powell has made quite a name for himself with his provocative and unrelenting trio of short films - Consumption, Worm and Familiar - which have established the up-and-coming filmmaker as a serious talent on the rise.
After recently viewing Powell's latest offering, Familiar (review here), Dread Central immediately caught up with the director to talk about his powerful short film, the inspiration behind his often challenging stories and more on his plans to adapt Worm into a feature film while still not planning to leave the short film world behind altogether just yet.

Fatal Pictures, the company behind the festival touring short Worm, are bringing you a new body horror short titled Familiar. I don’t know much beyond the images and poster, but what I can tell from this makes me want to see it. That poster alone is one of the better I’ve seen for any horror release this year. Here is a preview of director Richard Powell's upcoming horror short "Familiar." This latest film comes from Canadian production company Fatal Pictures, which recently completely another horror short, titled "Worm." Both "Familiar" and "Worm" have been acted in by Robert Nolan. Nolan plays the central protagonist in "Familiar" and this is a tale of a middle aged man who is hearing strange voices!
Have a look at the first official poster art, which shows: green flesh and scarring. There is no word on when this title will release; however, Fangoria has hosted an expose on this film in issue #305. More details on "Familiar" are below.
