- After turning down the option to be Producer/Director for Gerry Anderson's 'Captain Scarlet' CGI TV series remake at the Moving Picture Company in 2001, David instead relocated from UK to USA after signing a deal with Carlton International Media to develop another Gerry Anderson 60's series 'Stingray' as a CGI theatrical feature under the banner of DreamStable Entertainment, along with co-producer Davy Nethercutt. 'The Golden Voyage of Stingray' was developed with an original script (also penned by David), along with a trailer and poster which was hung on the office wall by Rupert Dilnott-Cooper, CEO of Carlton International Media, to the surprise of Gerry Anderson whom David had competed with as his rival Captain Scarlet remake pitch. 'The Golden Voyage of Stingray' was officially given a 'go' on December 26th 2003 when Rupert Dilnott-Cooper called to congratulate David with confirmation that he move forward and develop the project as a theatrical feature and Carlton would be tying in Universal Studios and Disney for distribution. There was only one stipulation. Gerry Anderson had to be attached as a 'consultant' which David agreed. Fate took it's turn before the year ended and two things happened which ended the 'Stingray' movie production. 1. The poor reception to Johnathan Frakes' 'Thunderbirds the Movie' for Universal and 2. A merger of Carlton and Granada.
