Pixar’s Cars movies have been the target of a lot of bizarre fan theories, with most of them centered around the fact that the universe clearly has no humans but still has evidence that humans once existed—i.e. door handles on the living cars, buildings and monuments that cars couldn’t build themselves, and the piles of skeletons that are always just off-camera in every scene. The movies themselves will probably never address the mysterious lack of humans, but it turns out that Jay Ward, the Creative Director of the Cars brand, has some theories of his own. This comes from Screen Crush, and though the piece makes it clear that it’s “not necessarily” official Pixar canon, Ward himself has an extremely dark idea for where the humans went:
If you think about this, we have autonomous car technology coming in right now. It’s getting to...

Any good news for DreamWorks Animation at the 2014 global box office came at an exorbitant cost. While the toon studio’s slate was up 36% over last year at the global B.O. with $1.18B across three movies — Mr. Peabody & Sherman, How to Train Your Dragon 2 and Penguins Of Madagascar, productions costs for DreamWorks Animation surged 56% over 2013 with an estimated $422M, the second highest in the studio’s history since 2010, when it shelled out $460M for a three pic-slate that included Shrek Forever After, How To Train Your Dragon and Mega Mind (total global B.O. $1.57B) under its distribution deal with Paramount. And not only were budgets up, but the three of the five titles that Dwa delivered to its distrib partner 20th Century Fox during the past two years haven’t been the mass-appealing, humorous titles that the animation studio has built its brand upon — How to Train Your Dragon 2...

It's been nearly seven years since Jay Leno's Garage first debuted on the internet, but the late night TV host has recently redoubled his efforts to show off his collection of classic rides. In the past year, Leno has maintained a diligent upload schedule, with car fans regularly salivating over his impressive collective of more than 150 vehicles. Most recently, Jay Leno's Garage has left its host's home and ventured to the collection of another media empire. The series' latest episode takes viewers to Pixar Animation Studios' Motorama, an annual car show for the company's employees. The pristine condition of some of the Pixar team's vintage whips is closely tied to the two Cars films. The episode is hosted by Jay Ward, who introduces himself as Cars' "franchise guardian," making him the curator behind Pixar's shiny collection. Unsurprisingly, one of the stars of the episode is Pixar Chief Creative...

When HeyUGuys met Jay Ward, it was a bit of a ‘Holychuff I’Mlivingoutoneofmydreams’ life moment.
For the sake of our professionalism (and a restraining order), we didn’t quite let-on how excited we were, but I have always wanted to meet someone from Pixar who worked on some of our favourite films.
So we were more than a little giddy when we received an invite to meet Pixar guru Jay Ward and test drive their new Kinect game Kinect Rush: A Disney Pixar Adventure.
Far from your bog-standard big-screen tie-in, it’s the first time Pixar have allowed for five of its movie titles to be used in one game (Up, Toy Story, Cars, Ratatouille and The Incredibles), with each being lovingly and painstakingly recreated for a family adventure through some of the studio’s most recognisable worlds.
Shortly before embarrassing ourselves with supremely dignity-shredding abandon actually playing the game,...

Disney-pixar’S “Cars 2″ Is Off To The Races Lightning McQueen Takes on 10 Global Champions in the First-Ever World Grand Prix to Determine the World’s Fastest Car
Who’s the fastest car in the world?
If you said Lightning McQueen – you’re not alone. As a four-time Piston Cup-winner, number 95 is a real contender. But can the American compete against international champs like Formula Racer Francesco Bernoulli – the favorite according to racing experts - (and Bernoulli himself)? And don’t forget Lewis Hamilton, the young, but incredibly talented yellow and black Gts car; Jeff Gorvette, the classic, all-American Gts master; and Carla Veloso, the tough Brazilian whose record speaks for itself – they have the guts to give the veterans a run for the title of world’s fastest car.
Indeed, that title is what’s up for grabs in the first ever World Grand Prix – a race created by Sir Miles Axlerod,...
