Inspired by his life and his mother's Puerto Rican stories, he wrote and directed the autobiographical film "My Backyard Was A Mountain".
His second film his first year at the American Film Institute Conservatory, "Caution To The Wind", was extremely controversial and caused an uproar during its premiere screening.
