The definitive Top 25 TV kisses of all time: 25-11
10. Kirk and Uhura in Star Trek
Sure, it's not the long, drawn-out payoff of a will-they-won't-they sitcom, and you'd be hard pushed to find a less romantic kiss on this list, but for what it represents in the wider cultural history of 1960s America and the extraordinary story behind the day of the shoot, it's hard to beat Captain Kirk and Uhura's iconic Star Trek smooch. Carol Connors (Deep Throat, Sweet Savage) plays as Candy, a 20 year old student who although a knockout, is a 100% virgin. She has a dream and wants to ‘help’ her fellow men. Unfortunately, her strict father played by Eddy Cannon (Cry Rape, Marisa) won’t let his little angel out of his sight or give the neighbours a bad impression. Unfortunately for him however, there’s a spanner in the works… The pesky gardener Manuel played by Don Fernando (Hot Rackets, Getting Off). He takes Candy’s virginity and as a result, poor pappa is hospitalised. Whilst at the hospital, Candy bumps in to her Auntie Kraven played by the wonderful Georgina Spelvin (The Devil in Miss Jones, Police Academy) and her Uncle Dick who is the identical twin of her father.

More signs of progress at Saturday Night Live: EW has confirmed that the sketch show has added comedians Lakendra Tookes and Leslie Jones to its writing staff. Their hiring comes two days after SNL announced that New York-based comedian Sasheer Zamata will be the show’s newest featured player. All three women are black — a rarity for SNL, which has featured just four black female cast members in its 39-year history. The Hollywood Reporter first reported the news.
Tookes (pictured at right), a former news reporter, was one of the 11 black women who auditioned for SNL during a secret...

Did you know our brothers at AfterElton are now our brothers at The Backlot? Yep! New name, new design, same awesome content. In fact, just yesterday they posted a Dateability Index for many of the gay TV characters currently wooing them on the small screen. Of course that inspired us to do the same thing.
Below we have listed lots of your favorite current lesbian/bi characters and measured their dateability on a scale of one to five Emily Fitches.
The Gold Standard
Practically perfect in every way.
Anne, Go On
Pros: Whip-smart successful lawyer, loyal and empathetic friend, can rock a power suit, very fond of books and boobs.
Cons: Still working through grief over wife's death, has no qualms about correcting your grammar.
Dateability Rating: 3.5 Emily Fitches — Take it slowly; she startles easily.
Betty McRae, Bomb Girls

Annabeth Gish has joined the cast of Parks and Recreation. The actress will play Ben's (Adam Scott) older sister, who Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler) meets when she visits Ben's hometown in Minnesota, reports Entertainment Weekly. Gish's television credits include Pretty Little Liars, Once Upon a Time and The X-Files. Earlier this month, NBC Entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt said that NBC would "love" to see the show return for a sixth season. "I hate to sort of (more)...

The Wyatt family just keeps getting bigger on "Parks and Recreation." And the newest member of the family will be Ben's sister, played by Annabeth Gish.
Gish, best known for parts in TV shows like "The X-Files" and films like "Mystic Pizza," will appear as Stephanie Wyatt in an episode scheduled to air later this season (as first reported by EW.com).
Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler) and fiance Ben (Adam Scott) will meet up with Stephanie in the Wyatts' hometown of Partridge, Minnesota. Although this town has been discussed many times on "Parks and Recreation" -- that's the town that Ben was briefly the mayor of when he was 18 -- this will be the first look at Ben's roots. Filming of the episode begins next week.

We’ve already met Ben’s parents (Jonathan Banks and Glenne Headly), so now it’s time to meet his sister. Annabeth Gish (The X-Files, Mystic Pizza) has been cast as Adam Scott’s onscreen sibling on Parks and Recreation, EW has learned.
In an episode of the NBC comedy set to film next week and air later this season, Ben and fiancée Leslie (Amy Poehler) take a road trip to his hometown of Partridge, Minn., where they meet up with his sister, Stephanie (Gish). Homecoming week should be interesting, as Ben briefly served as the town’s mayor at age 18 before being impeached.

One of our favorite holiday movies at AfterEllen.com is Mean Girls. It kicks off Halloween and carries us right through Christmas. So while we're tucking away our slutty mouse costumes and breaking out our slutty santa suits, we thought we'd check in with the women who starred in the most quotable movie of all time. Mean Girls: Where Are They Now?
Rachel McAdams (Regina George)
Mean Girls mantra: "Get in, loser; we're going shopping."
Post-high school heroics: Right after high school, Rachel McAdams starred in a little film you might have heard of called The Notebook. Something about a rainstorm and kissing and Ryan Gosling. And then another little film you might have heard of called Wedding Crashers. These days she kisses whomever she wants and crashes whatever weddings she wants and stars in whatever rom-coms, dram-coms, and action-coms she damn well pleases.

When you hear the term "lesbian stalker," it's usually referencing someone you or your friend broke up with that you just can't get away from. Well I'm sorry to say but lesbian communities are oh-so-small, my friends, and we're all someone's crazy ex. But sometimes there are legitimate stalkers who send Ellen Page creepy letters or sit outside Kerry Katona's house. I'd like to think these people aren't truly lesbian but just women who are weirdly obsessed with celebrities. But that doesn't mean true lesbian stalkers don't exist in the wonderful world of film and TV tropes! In fact, the obsessive gay woman that is willing to go to any length to have what she wants is quite popular. And because it's that time of year when you like to cuddle up with your closest ladyfriend and watch a scary story,...

Happy Halloween, readers!
It’s my favorite day of the year, so I couldn’t neglect it in this week’s list. Because All Hallows Eve is so fun, below are the top 10 best Halloween comedy episodes.
Sadly, dramas are not on this list (I never would’ve been able to cut it to 10 if there had been), but feel free to leave your picks in the comments —”Home” from Fox’s The X-Files, anyone?
For me, though, I’ll leave it to laughs. So put on your best TV-themed costume, grab that bowl of fun-sized candy and check out my choices!
10. ABC’s Boy Meets World, “And Then There Was Shawn” (Season 5, Episode 17)
Fun fact: This episode aired Feb. 27, 1998. Nevertheless, I consider it one of the best Halloween episodes because “And Then There Was Shawn” left quite an impression on me as a...

The results are in! We asked readers to name their favorite TV characters of all time and thousands responded. This year, for the first time, we weren't just asking about favorite gay TV characters. Folks could vote for characters of either gender - and all persuasions. Of course, this being AfterElton we expected gay characters to figure prominently on this list - and they do - but it is interesting to see what female and straight TV roles also resonated with the AfterElton readership.
Before we get to the actual rankings, here are a few statistics.
First, the top fifty came from a broad range of TV shows. Thirty programs were represented, and the two that made the best showing (Glee and Modern Family) placed only four characters each in the rankings.
Second, female characters nabbed 15 of the top 50 spots, or 30%.
Third, obviously a poll like this favors characters from...

If you are a gay lady and watch Chuck you know that one of the show’s many, many endearing qualities is its ability to get its super-sexy star Yvonne Strahovski in her underwear and/or a bikini in almost every episode. If you are a gay lady who does not watch Chuck, um, you read what I just typed, right? Perhaps you’d like a visual aid.
And that was all just from one episode – one. So now the news I’m about to share will be even more exciting, Chuck has been picked up by NBC for a full season order meaning everyone can put down the Subway sandwiches and just enjoy the show. The network ordered 11 additional episodes, bringing the full season to 24 – that’s two more than its usual 22-episode order. Guess someone will have to find more lacy underthings to wear.
NBC has been in a pick-up frenzy this week.

"Great LezBritian" is a fortnightly stroll through the very best of British lesbo-centric entertainment and culture. Plus there will be some jolly good interviews with the top ladies who are waving the flag for gay UK.
When we first went onto the Lip Service set, we cannot tell a lie, it was Ruta Gedmintas that first caught our eye. We can thank series creator, Harriet Braun for suggesting the frankly delicious haircut, but we must give her parents and genetics a massive high five for the rest.
Our interview with Ruta took place during filming back in December. In person, she was intense, thoughtful and extremely articulate. She talked passionately about the show and had obviously spent a lot of time studying and coming to grips with the role of Frankie.

I've really missed Amy Poehler since she left Saturday Night Live last year, after eight seasons, to go off and have a baby with husband Will Arnett. But luckily, this week is her week, as her new comedy, Spring Breakdown, was released on DVD, and tomorrow, her new mockumentary-style sitcom Parks and Recreation debuts on NBC. She also took some time to do an interview with The Advocate, talking about all kinds of gay things.
When the magazine asks Poehler if her show' character, Leslie Knope, could be a lesbian, she says, "Sweet Leslie would probably attempt lesbianism just to have that experience and open her mind, but it would be really fumbly and awkward. There would not be anything sexy about it."
Oh, Amy. You don't know us very well, do you? I, for one, find humor to be very sexy. Even awkward isn't always bad.
