Brad Peyton, who directed Dwayne Johnson movies “San Andreas” and “Rampage,” is attached to helm character-driven action thriller “Sniper Elite,” inspired by the stealth-shooter game franchise, which has sold more than 30 million units.
The movie will see an elite Allied sniper, Karl Fairburne, engage in a cat-and-mouse chase through the streets of London at the height of the Blitz during World War II, as he tries to save British Prime Minister Winston Churchill from a Nazi assassin.
The movie is being produced by Marla Studios’ Jean-Julien Baronnet and Jason Kingsley, CEO of Rebellion, the game’s producer. Baronnet is the former CEO of Luc Besson’s EuropaCorp – whose titles during his time in charge included “Taken” – and the former CEO of Ubisoft Motion Pictures, where he produced Fox’s “Assassin’s Creed,” starring Michael Fassbender.
Rebellion’s games also include “Aliens vs. Predator,” and it owns the rights to the “Judge Dredd” comic-book franchise.

Whenever a horde mode shooter is released its inevitable that it will be compared with Valve’s Left 4 Dead (2008) series. Many have tried to live up to that name and have failed in their attempts, but with its Indiana Jones/Tomb Raideresque setting Strange Brigade just might be onto something.
Strange Brigade is a third-person horde mode shooter game from the makers of the Sniper Elite (2005) series, Rebellion. Playing as one of four characters, you and the rest of the Strange Brigade travel to Egypt in an attempt to discover secrets of and eliminate the recently arisen ancient evil queen, Seteki. Along the way there’s plenty puzzles to be solved and loot to be found, and of course hordes of zombies, mummies, skeletons, and many other creatures from the depths of the ancient world to take out.
The Strange Brigade is a band of adventurers working for the Department of Antiquities.

Even though I played through it just a couple of months ago, on the newly released PS4 Pro, it’s easy to forget that Sniper Elite III was a cross-generational title, appearing on both Sony and Microsoft’s older and newer consoles. This isn’t inherently a bad thing, but as I reflect upon my time with it, it becomes more clear that the game does suffer from having cater to older, noticeably weaker hardware. That’s not the case with Sniper Elite 4, however. Built exclusively for current-gen consoles (and PC, of course), Rebellion Developments has clearly listened to the fans and critics and has taken it upon themselves to fix many of the shortcomings with their previous title, making Sniper Elite 4 infinitely more enjoyable in the process.

I love the Sniper Elite brand for two things: 1) the chance to stalk and set complicated tripwire, land mine, or grenade-based traps for my enemies, and 2) to destroy a man’s ability to procreate by vaporizing his testicles from 500 meters down range.
The franchise’s story, on the contrary, rarely matches the gameplay’s excitement, but one man’s opinion won’t prevent developer Rebellion from setting the stage for Sniper Elite 4 ‒ the third sequel in a series that’s shipped ten million copies to this date. Players reconvene in the midst of World War II, having left Germany and the African sands behind.
This time, in the studio’s words:
Covert agent and elite marksman Karl Fairburne must fight alongside the brave men and women of the Italian Resistance to help free their country from the yoke of Fascism, and defeat a terrifying new threat with the potential to...

Rebellion’s Sniper Elite 3 is heading to the North African front of World War II, as Karl Fairburne must utilize a new set of tactics and equipment on a non-linear battlefield.
Fans of the series that were disappointed by Sniper Elite V2 should rest assured that Rebellion has taken steps to ensure Sniper Elite 3 delivers more of what gamers loved. The head of creative development at Rebellion stated that the title has been “built from the ground up to plug all the holes in gameplay that didn’t manage to go as far as we wanted to with Sniper Elite V2.”
Stalking your enemies in the desert will force players to focus on stealth and relocation tactics. This means that planning your approach carefully, by slipping from cover to cover, will be imperative for remaining hidden in the shadows. Hilfe. It's German for "help." After taking one semester of German in college, and almost failing, this wasn't a word I learned, however, after a couple hours of Sniper Elite V2, it's a word that I quickly become accustomed to hearing. With a reputation for raining down quick death, almost out of nowhere during World War II, the sniper is one of wars most feared combatants, so much so, that they are one of the few classes that can carry their own game. Sniper Elite V2 rewards the stealthy rifleman with a competent and enjoyable jaunt of a game, taking players through war-torn Berlin, hunting Nazi scientists.
Filling the very capable boots of Karl Fairburne, a master sniper for the allies, Sniper Elite V2 puts you behind enemy lines in 1945 Germany trying to prevent a group of scientists from defecting to Russia. These specific scientists were part of the team...

Traditionally, first-person and third-person shooter games are successful because they offer a variety of classes of characters to broaden the gameplay, and appeal to varied audience who might gravitate towards one class over another. Breaking off one of those classes, and crafting an entire game around just one aspect of it seems like the developers would be, figuratively, shooting themselves in the foot. However, Rebellion Developments and 505 Games are trying to prove that snipers are one class that can carry their own game, as they're on the verge of releasing a follow-up to a seven-year-old game with Sniper Elite V2.
Set during the invasion of Europe of 1945, Sniper Elite V2 puts you in the boots of highly trained, U.S. sniper Karl Fairburne. This soldier is on a mission in Berlin to assassinate or rescue five of Germany's highest-ranking scientists who are working on Hitler's V2 rocket program to make...

Sniper Elite V2, the reboot of the original release, which places you in the boots of Karl Fairburne, an Allied sniper set out to eliminate Nazi scientist’s researching V2 rockets at the end of World War 2. As Russians have invaded Germany in the final conflicts of the war, you must sneak through enemy lines and hunt down the scientists in order to ensure they cannot help the Russian Army, while rescuing the scientists wishing to defect for the Allies.
Sniping has never been so damn rewarding.
As Karl, you must remember above all else that stealth is your ally. This isn’t Call of Duty, quick scoping will get you nowhere but a bodybag. Precise calculation, and movement is key, and at lower difficulties stealth is your primary concern. As you move through the level you can use your binoculars in order to survey the level. As you scan carefully tagging enemies is critical.

Rebellion Developments' 2005 third-person shooter "Sniper Elite" offered a different flavor of World War II shooter. The game emphasized taking a cautious approach to combat situations, employing stealth and the sniper protagonist's natural gifts for marksmanship in bringing the fight to the enemy. This was complicated by the game's use of real bullet physics, forcing players to account for elements like bullet drop and wind speed in lining up the perfect shot. It's no "Call of Duty," but the game was well-received by critics and fans who appreciated a little less guns blazing action in their shooter. Those people should be pleased today then, as Rebellion has announced the coming of a "Sniper Elite" sequel.
