White House Chief of Staff John Kelly has come under fire for praising Civil War general Robert E. Lee and making some curious claims about the cause of the 19th-century conflict. “Robert E. Lee was an honorable man. He was a man that gave up his country to fight for his state, which 150 years ago was more important than country,” Kelly said Monday in an interview on the debut edition of Laura Ingraham’s new Fox News show, “The Ingraham Angle.” “It was always loyalty to state first in those days. Harry Dean Stanton has died at the age of 91, it was confirmed over the weekend.
Actor Harry Dean Stanton died of natural causes in Los Angeles on Friday September 15th, his agent John Kelly announced. He was 91.
Stanton, who made his breakthrough in Wim Wenders’ Paris, Texas, submerged himself in over 250 movies since he began acting in the 1950s. That didn’t make him any less unforgettable, putting his subtle stamp on such films as Cool Hand Luke (1967), Two-Lane Blacktop (1971), Godfather II (1974), Ridley Scott’s Alien (1979) and John Carpenter’s Escape From New York (1981). Plus he taught Emilio Estevez how to boost cars in the cult classic Repo Man.
Stanton hit the mainstream in John Hughes’ Pretty In Pink (1986), he played Molly Ringwald’s unemployed father.

California’s new U.S. Sen. Kamala Harris was so appalled by the bungled rollout of the Trump administration’s ban on travel from seven Muslim-majority countries last month that she called Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly and confronted him about it. “I called him up at home ’cause I got the number,” Harris told the audience at a Creative Artist Agency-sponsored summit of political leaders on Thursday. The call didn’t go as well as she had hoped. “I was really unsatisfied with the conversation,” she told the crowd, which included actors Richard Dreyfuss and Joshua Jackson. Also Read:...

A young California mother vanished last month in the middle of a seemingly normal day. Weeks later, she reappeared — traumatized by captors, beaten and branded, her family says. Subscribe now to People, or pick up this week’s issue, on newsstands Friday, for much more on this case.
Sherri Papini, the mom-of-two who authorities say was kidnapped and held captive for 22 days, is living at an undisclosed location and reportedly may never return to her home near the trail in Redding, California, where she was abducted while jogging on Nov. 2.
That doesn’t surprise John Kelly, a noted serial killer profiler.
