2Nd Update wth charges filed: Ufc fighter Conor McGregor has been criminally charged in connection with Thursday’s brawl at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
McGregor, who attacked a van carrying rival fighters after a press conference at the arena ahead of Saturday’s Ufc 223 card, was charged with felony criminal mischief and misdemeanor counts of assault, attempted assault, menacing and reckless endangerment. He faces as much as seven years in prison if convicted on all charges.
An order of protection was issued against McGregor that bars him from contacting fighters Michael Chiesa and Raymond Borg, who were hit with flying glass when McGregor threw a dolly at the van. Borg sustained a cornea abrasion and facial bruising, while Chiesa had cuts to the hand and face. Both had bouts scheduled for the Ufc’s Saturday showcase at Barclays, but both fights are now canceled.
