Warner Bros. Pictures and DC’s The Flash, which hit theaters in June, now has a date for its streaming debut on Max: the superhero pic starring Ezra Miller will bow Friday, August 25.
The film, in which Miller reprised his role as Barry Allen in the superhero’s first stand-alone pic, was highly touted by incoming DC bosses James Gunn and Peter Safran, but it saw a sluggish bow in theaters. It opened to $55.1 million over its first three days domestically, and $64M over the Juneteenth holiday frame. Along with a similarly tepid performance overseas, all those numbers were below expectations for a DC tentpole with a budget of $200M.
The pic, directed by Andy Muschietti, is currently sitting on a $268.5 million global box office total.
Along with Miller, the ensemble cast included Sasha Calle, Michael Shannon, Ron Livingston, Maribel Verdú, Kiersey Clemons, Antje Traue and Michael Keaton.

DC’s “The Flash” is set to stream on Warner Bros. Discovery’s Max starting Aug. 25.
The first-ever standalone feature film for Barry Allen, which stars Ezra Miller and is directed by Andy Muschetti, follows the titular superhero as he uses his powers to travel back in time to change the events of the past.
But when his attempt to save his family inadvertently alters the future, Barry becomes trapped in a reality in which General Zod has returned, threatening annihilation, and there are no Super Heroes to turn to. That is, unless Barry can coax a very different Batman out of retirement and rescue an imprisoned Kryptonian… albeit not the one he’s looking for.
The streaming announcement comes as the film was a commercial disappointment when it hit theaters back in May. It grossed $108 million domestically and just $268 million worldwide.

Warner Bros. has released another look at “The Flash,” dropping new footage of the DC Comics film ahead of the Super Bowl.
After first appearing in a cameo role way back in 2016’s “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” Miller is suited up as the Scarlet Speedster once again — this time for their own solo movie. The new trailer shows Miller’s Barry Allen crashing into the multiverse and running into another version of himself and not one, but two, Batmen — played by Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton. There’s also a return of Michael Shannon’s General Zod from “Man of Steel” and the debut of Sasha Calle’s Supergirl.
The cast also includes Kiersey Clemons as Iris West, Saoirse-Monica Jackson, Antje Traue and Maribel Verdú.
The trailer marks the first major promotional material for the film since a series of controversies surrounding Miller.

Deadline has confirmed that Michael Keaton, who first played the big screen version of Batman in 1989 for Warner Bros. and its 1992 sequel Batman Returns is in early talks to return to the role once again.
Keaton would play Batman in a Nick Fury-like role starting with Warner Bros. The Flash starring Ezra Miller, and could continue to play the Dark Knight in other upcoming DC movies like Batgirl. Reportedly, the Keaton Batman won’t impact the mythology being hammered out by Matt Reeves’ reboot The Batman starring Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader, and it will pick up his story line after Batman Returns.

Keaton, who had already been working with director Tim Burton in Beetlejuice in 1988, was selected by the director and late casting director and Warner Bros.

Italian actress Michela De Rossi has been cast in a “pivotal role” in “The Sopranos” prequel “The Many Saints of Newark” as the film begins production next week, an individual with knowledge of the project told TheWrap.
De Rossi joins Alessandro Nivola, Vera Farmiga, Ray Liotta, Jon Bernthal, Corey Stoll, Billy Magnussen, John Magaro and Michael Gandolfini in the ensemble drama set during in the Newark riots in the ’60s. She’ll play an “ambitious” Italian immigrant who comes to America to settle in Newark, New Jersey.
De Rossi is an up-and-coming Italian actress who made her cinematic debut in the 2018 film “Boys Cry,” a breakout at Berlinale that was directed by Fabio and Damiano D’Innocenzo. She’s never acted in the U.S., and her first trip to the States was to audition for the film.

Exclusive: The Sopranos prequel The Many Saints Of Newark has set its final major lead role. Michela De Rossi, the Italian-born actress who made her debut in Boys Cry, has been set to join Alessandro Nivola, Vera Farmiga, Ray Liotta, Jon Bernthal, Corey Stoll, Billy Magnussen, John Magaro, Michael Gandolfini and the just-cast Leslie Odom Jr. in the ensemble drama for New Line. Production gets underway next week in New Jersey and New York.
Details have been scant on many of the big roles, but I’m told De Rossi will play an ambitious Italian immigrant who comes to America and settles in Newark. De Rossi has never acted in the U.S., and her first trip to the states was to audition for this role, which was highly sought after. The filmmakers sparked to a vivacity and authentic feel she brought to it. Boys Cry was a breakout at...

Exclusive: New Line has set Tony-winning actor Leslie Odom Jr. for a starring role in The Many Saints Of Newark, the prequel film to David Chase’s iconic HBO series The Sopranos. He joins Alessandro Nivola, Vera Farmiga, Ray Liotta, Jon Bernthal, Corey Stoll, Billy Magnussen, John Magaro and Michael Gandolfini, the latter of whom is reprising the Tony Soprano role originated by his late father, James Gandolfini.
No one is saying what role Odom Jr. will play, but the film is set in the era of the Newark riots in the 60s, when the African-Americans and the Italians of Newark were at each other’s throats. Among the gangsters of each group, that clash became especially lethal. I have heard that Odom figures directly into that conflict which involves Dickie Moltisanti (Nivola), who is the father of Tony Soprano’s lieutenant Christopher (played in the series by Michael Imperioli...

Exclusive: John Magaro has been cast in New Line’s The Sopranos prequel movie The Many Saints of Newark, reteaming him with David Chase after he starred in Chase’s 2012 movie Not Fade Away.
As with the other cast for Saints there’s no word on who Magaro is playing, but he joins Alessandro Nivola, Vera Farmiga, Ray Liotta, Jon Bernthal, Corey Stoll, Billy Magnussen and Michael Gandolfini in the pic set in the era of the Newark riots in the 1960s, when African Americans and Italian Americans in the city were at each other’s throats. That clash became lethal when it spread to gangsters of each group. Several Sopranos characters are expected to be part of the mix, with Gandolfini to play the younger version of his dad’s character Tony Soprano.
