- Was estranged from his father Aleksandr Tolmatskiy for 14 years (since he left his mother for another woman) until his death. His father met his grandson Antoniy Tolmatskiy only on son's funeral on February 6, 2019 when the boy was already 13 years old.
- His widow, Yulia Tolmatskaya (b. 1986), is a former model and painter from Nizhniy Novgorod. They met when she moved to Moscow to purse her modeling career. They married in 2005 and welcomed their only child, son Antoniy Tolmatskiy (full name is Merkuriy Antoniy Ioann ''Toni'' Kirillovich Kiselyov, on June 17th of the same year.
- The farewell ceremony was held on February 6, 2019 in Moscow at the Central Clinical Hospital of the Office of the Presidential Affairs. The funeral took place at the Pyatnitsky cemetery.
- On the night of February 3, 2019, he was performing at the private birthday party of car dealer Nikita Pantiukhin in the Izhaevsk's Cafe Poche and became ill in the dressing room. He complained of pain in the hands and cramps. An ambulance crew, which was called at 1 am, arrived in 5 minutes and performed resuscitation measures, including adrenaline injections, on him for half an hour however this didn't help. He died from cardiac arrest (according to preliminary data) even before an ambulance's arrival at the age 36. His death was reported on Facebook by his father Aleksandr Tolmatskiy at 6 am. Coincidentally, he entertained the idea of faking his own death at the exact same age in the 2007 interview to a local news media agency before the concert in the same city he would actually die in. In 2015, in an interview with the Voronezh news agency "Gallery Chizhov" he reiterated the words about his plans.
- The last entry on his Instagram was his own oil painting on canvas, the inscription on it reads: "RIP RGB", and in the caption explanation: conspiracy theory collection (conspiracy theories collection). Based on data from earlier interviews and Detsl recordings, many fans publicly on the Web expressed their disbelief in the demise of their idol.
- Shortly before his death, Detsl criticized Russian pension reform, as well as the bias of the Russian media.
- During the autopsy, held on February 4, 2019, no visible pathological changes from the heart, brain and other organs were found. However, on February 13, 2019, the first results of a toxicological examination were released which showed the presence of a potent neuroleptic in his blood, as well as ethanol. Presumably, his death came from cardiogenic shock which usually happens as a result of taking drugs that are incompatible with alcohol. The examination will continue until February 18, 2019.
