Paco Reguenga was born Francisco Alejandro Reguenga Sanfeliz in Mexico
City on December 27th, 1967, to the later well-known Mexican economist
Juan Manuel Reguenga Sanchez and Esperanza Sanfeliz Sobrino. Both his
parents worked for the government for more than 20 years, and after
retirement they pursued separate writing careers. They passed their
passion for the books to their eldest son, who very soon developed an
ability for storytelling which amused and amazed friends and family at
parties. At the age of 6, his father brought an audio cassette tape
recorder as a novelty, which Paco discovered as an unvaluable tool for
recording dramatized stories with his younger brother, Luis, who was 4
at that time. Since then, Paco told stories of many kinds to all those
around him all the time, and he couldn't be stopped once he started to
talk, a fact which made him notorious among his clientele and friends.
He studied Industrial Design at the UAM Azcapotzalco and Communication
Sciences & Techniques at the Universidad del Tepeyac. He began his
career as one of the first professional computer animators in Mexico at
the age of 19 and at 22 he began directing TV commercials thanks to the
confidence of his employer at the time. After 5 years he became General
Manager for the same production company, which specialized in
Government TV ads during the 1990s. After that very busy period where
he became a producer, an editor, a voice talent, a writer and a music
composer, he relied heavily on the Video Toaster. But he knew he had to
learn a lot more so he became a postproducer and a visual effects
supervisor and operator, learning each time more powerful systems such
as Discreet's Flame, Flint, Smoke and Inferno and switching from
Softimage to Alias' Maya for 3D animation. He was hired by many
Postproduction Facilities including New Art Digital, Ollin Studio, La
Telera Post and Salsa Post as Operations Manager, postproducer,
operator, problems solver, and finally back again as a TV commercials
Director. He then fell in love with DVD Authoring becoming one of
Mexico's few Sonic Scenarist users, which led him to provide the CNA
services for Mana's "Acceso Total", a project in which, in his own
words, he had to do a lot more than he was hired to and took him 6
times his usual timeline, but happily he was fully paid for everything.
At that time, Paco could choose who would he work with or reject them,
but lightning strikes and a heart attack combined with a
cerebrovascular episode put him away for two years. He is very active
having a time of his own, composing music, writing articles and a pair
of screenplays, producing music videos and commercials, and biking.
