The U.S. Navy is revoking Bill Cosby’s honorary title of chief petty officer in the wake of sexual assault allegations against him, which the military branch said conflict with its core values. Navy Secretary Ray Mabus and Master Chief Petty Officer Michael Stevens made the announcement on Thursday in a statement. Cosby was given the honorary title in 2011. He enlisted in the Navy in 1956 and was honorably discharged in 1960 as a petty officer third class. The U.S. Navy has promoted its first female four-star admiral. Michelle J. Howard received the honor at a ceremony Tuesday at the Women in Military Service for America Memorial in Washington, D.C., Stars and Stripes reported. With it, Howard becomes the Navy's highest-ranking female officer in history as vice chief of Naval Operations - its No. 2 officer. Howard smiled broadly at the ceremony, where her long career of military service was lauded. "It is a remarkable sign of leadership, to be persistent in your goals and to achieve them," she said in accepting the honor, the Washington Post reported.
