Chloe Takayanagi
The Los Angeles native got her start assisting veteran stylist Jeanne Yang, with whom she continues to work on looks for Simu Liu and Kumail Nanjiani. “Jeanne has taught me to be confident in my decisions and trust my instincts,” Takayanagi says of her mentor. For awards season, she went out on her own, dressing Everything Everywhere All at Once Oscar winner Ke Huy Quan: “His style is classic and tailored but with a little twist of quirkiness,” says Takayanagi, who especially loved Quan’s red velvet Armani at the Critics Choice Awards. “It was the perfect style to bring a bit of Chinese culture in while keeping it elegant.” As for Quan’s signature lapel pins, she says it started with a DIY googly-eye pin on his Thom Browne tux at the Golden Globes and gained momentum from there: “It was a way to nod to...

The wait is over: Intl. Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR), set to kick off on Jan. 25, is returning for its first full on-site edition in three years.
“We are finally able to present the reshaped program as it was intended: in cinemas across Rotterdam. We find it incredibly encouraging to see that the number of accredited guests is similar to pre-covid editions,” says festival director Vanja Kaludjercic.
Alongside IFFR’s Tiger competition strand, which celebrates innovative and adventurous up-and-coming filmmakers, there are retrospectives of Judit Elek, Stanya Kahn, Arc and Japanese animator Yuasa Masaaki, as well as “Sunshine State,” Steve McQueen’s much-anticipated artwork, originally commissioned for the festival’s 50th anniversary back in 2021.
“It’s great to see that this extra time has allowed it to evolve into what it is today: a monumental two-channel video projection that will surely move all those who witness it,” she adds. “With this commission,...

Women are a force to be reckoned with both in real-life and in reel-life. Over the decades, strong women have permeated cinema from its infancy — remember Pearl White in the 1914 serial “The Perils of Pauline”? Viola Davis plays the title role in Gina Prince-Bythewood’s hit film “The Woman King.” The Oscar Emmy and Tony winner’s character leads a group of women warriors called the Agojie who protected the West African Kingdom of Dahomey from the 17th-19th centuries.
Reviews have been strong for the “The Woman King,” which earned 19 million on its opening weekend, especially for the Davis. Noted Variety: “She plays Nanisca, who in the film’s aggressive prologue, stands firm before a phalanx of well-armed soldiers, her hair fashioned into a kind of Mohawk. Scars visible on her face and shoulders We’ve never seen the actor like this, and not for a second do we...

Electronic Arts has confirmed that Insomniac Games’ co-op shooter, Fuse, will be released on May 28th in North America and on May 31st across Europe for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Originally, the title had been announced with a March 2013 release window, which makes its May launch a slight two month delay.
“Insomniac Games is known for delivering best-in-class weaponry that breaks the mold of traditional video games — and Fuse is no different,” said Insomniac Games’ CEO, Ted Price. “These Xenotech weapons further the innovation players will find in this unique, action co-op shooter. We can’t wait to bring Fuse, our first multi-platform game, to gamers worldwide this May.”
Fuse is a third person, four-player co-op shooter that centers around a elite squad of covert agents known as Overstrike 9. Players pick from one of the four members of the squad (Dalton Brooks, Izzy Sinclair, Jacob Kimble or Naya Deveraux), as they...

We asked you which gay or bisexual TV characters you think are the best, and you told us – with tens of thousands of votes cast.
Now we have the results.
But first, a few interesting statistics.
We have quite a few familiar faces – characters who made our last poll of the best gay and bisexual characters two and a half years ago – and a few missing ones, namely Vince D’Angelo (from Will & Grace), George Huang (from Law & Order: Svu), and Waylon Smithers (from The Simpsons), all of whom didn’t even make the top 50 this time around.
Meanwhile, we also have many new faces – from shows that have debuted since our last poll.
Every single character except two comes from a show that ran in the 00s (although some shows, like Will & Grace, did debut in the late 90s). The exceptions? Jodie Dallas, played by Billy Crystal, on Soap...
