Are multiverses consistent with Christian theology? Personally, I have my doubts, but in Angel Studios’ religious-minded sci-fi thriller “The Shift,” the notion that there could be infinite parallel realities offers an original, if flawed model to test its main character’s faith.
Here’s how it works: A churchgoing man named Kevin (Kristoffer Polaha) meets and marries his dream woman, Molly (Elizabeth Tabish), only to have his happy life whisked away from him by a steely-eyed stranger who calls himself “the Benefactor” (Neal McDonough). Kevin’s desperate to get back to his wife, but this Benefactor guy seems determined to rattle his convictions, trying to force Kevin to reject his beliefs and go along with the rest of society’s atheist attitudes.
That’s where the movie’s other big biblical connection comes in. “The Shift” is billed as a contemporary retelling of the book of Job, in which God...

Archie Comics has announced that Kevin Keller will end with issue #15, but the character isn’t going away. “To be clear, we’re not canceling the book: It’s ending so we can take a minute to plan a relaunch for the character. In the meantime, Kevin will continue to be a big part of the other Archie titles— including Afterlife with Archie.”
Buzzfeed covers for Madonna calling kale “gay” in the most Buzzfeed way possible.
While launching their new smartphone app, the American Family Association says that it’s no longer safe for Christians to be photographers, bakers, florists teachers or innkeepers. Many Christians choose self-employed careers because they want to be able to run their business according to the dictates of their faith and conscience. That list is quickly shrinking as...

I knew it! Every time I watch one of those ubiquitous Christian Mingle commercials with that excruciatingly generic Jars Of Clay song, I think “Okay, some of these guys
have to be closeted.” Jesus is a great cover.
Now, the truth can be told, as “Chad” and “Alan” reveal how the dating service brought them together. Christian Mingle … God’s Grindr.

Bruce Springstreen has announced his new album title: Wrecking Ball, an angry-sounding name fitting for what The Hollywood Reporter learned will be his "angriest" offering yet. The record, scheduled to drop March 6 through Columbia Records, was produced by Springsteen and Ron Aniello (Lifehouse, Jars of Clay); Jon Landau, the singer's manager, also is on board as executive producer. It's the first time working on a Springsteen record for Aniello, who co-produced Play It as It Lays, the 2007 album by the singer's wife, Patti Scialfa. The track list for the album, recorded with the E Street Band:

Lady Gaga has been working on a religious-themed music video to accompany her song, “Judas”, and believe it or not—it might be offensive. Creative director Laurieann Gibson said she almost walked away from the video because she didn’t care for the direction in which it was going. “I was like, ‘Listen, I don’t want lightning to strike me!’ I believe in the gospel and I’m not going there.” You know who you’re working with right? This ain’t Jars of Clay, this is the same woman whose last video featured a makeshift vagina giving...

Unlike Aron Ralston, Bethany Hamilton is actually a one-armed hero. After a shark tore off her left arm in 2003, through determination and devout faith, she got back on her surfboard and continued to compete professionally. And it wasn't a matter of let's pity the wounded warrior -- Hamilton went on to place or win in several major professional events with the use of a modified board designed by her father. Her greatest achievement isn't survival, it's that she experienced heartbreaking and life changing adversity, and through unwavering commitment to her sport and her God, she's continued to compete and to help others. Bethany Hamilton is an amazing person.
However, since the accident, they've parlayed her devotion into a marketing campaign for Jesus. Bethany wrote a memoir of the incident, Soul Surfer, with the help of two other folks, which soon became a special book of Soul Surfer devotionals and even a Soul Surfer bible.

You may not have known Gerry Rafferty's name right away, but you certainly knew his songs. The singer/songwriter behind such '70s hits as "Baker Street" and "Stuck in the Middle With You" passed away Tuesday (January 4) at the age of 63. He had been struggling with kidney failure and had been on life support in a hospital, though he passed at his home in Dorset, England.
Though Rafferty never achieved any significant commercial success in real time, his influence looms large thanks to a handful of appearances in beloved pop culture. Though his most recognizable song is probably "Baker Street" (and really, it's the saxophone riff that really sticks), Rafferty's "Stuck in the Middle With You" (recorded with his band Stealers Wheel in 1972) is his most notable track thanks to its appearance in Quentin Tarantino's debut film "Reservoir Dogs." Throughout the length of the movie, a radio...
