We’ve always wondered how many Emmy acceptance speeches go to waste each year. Most winners claim they were “unprepared” because they didn’t “expect to win,” but there are also the winners who take a piece of paper out of their pocket with their acceptance speech outlines. Better safe than sorry, right?
When it comes to this year’s Emmys, we only know of one wasted speech, and that belongs to Chuck Lorre, co-creator and executive producer of The Big Bang Theory.

Coming off its highest-rated and arguably its strongest season creatively, The Big Bang Theory, which nabbed the Critics Choice TV Award in June, was a prime contender for the best series Emmy on Sunday. It wasn’t to be, with Modern Family repeating as a winner for a fourth time, but you can’t blame co-creator/exec producer Chuck Lorre for going prepared (or maybe he jotted down a few notes just in case after dark horse winner Merritt Wever’s train-wreck onstage appearance). Did you camp out overnight at the convention center? If not, then it's possible you didn't make it into the final "Smallville" Comic-Con panel on Sunday, July 25.
Not to worry though. We've managed to talk our way in (Daily Planet-style) and get seated for what's going to be a huge fan farewell since this is the 10th and final season of the show.
Clark Kent himself, Tom Welling, will be present, along with Erica Durance, Cassidy Freeman and Justin Hartley (and EPs Kelly Souders and Brian Peterson). What, where's Allison Mack?
Join us. It's about to start ...
10:00 a.m. - Brr .. it's freezing in here! I guess I should've put on an extra pair of tights and cape. Stupid yellow sun.
10:03 a.m. - Hmm, wonder how many surprise guests we'll have. I wonder how many I'll recognize. This show has had so many people come and go.
