The latest instalment in the relaunched Planet of the Apes franchise, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, arrives in theatres exactly ten days from now, and 20th Century Studios has released quite a bit of new promotional material, including an action-packed final trailer spotlighting plenty of new footage.
The teaser tells us a little more about new lead ape, Noa, and reveals why he has a vendetta against the tyrannical Proximo Caesar. We also hear Mae speak, and it seems the human girl is fully aware that the world once belonged to her people before the ape uprising.
Does this mean Kotpota will bring events full circle? It's possible, but we might see at least one more movie before things begin to link up to the original Planet of the Apes.
Check out the new trailer, along with a poster and two featurettes, and let us know what you think in the comments section.

T.J. Newman was working as a flight attendant on the Virgin Airlines redeye flight from Los Angeles to New York when she had the idea for her debut novel Falling. That action thriller became a bestseller and was followed by Drowning: The Rescue of Flight 1421, which also became a bestseller. Film adaptations of both Falling and Drowning: The Rescue of Flight 1421 are already in the works – and now Deadline reports that the film rights to Newman’s third novel, Worst Case Scenario, are about to go up for auction.
Newman couldn’t get a lot of people interested in Falling at first. She was rejected by more than forty different agents. But then Shane Salerno and The Story Factory signed her, and her luck turned around in a major way. She landed a seven-figure deal with Avid Reader / Simon & Schuster, another seven figures for deals in thirty other countries…...

On Monday April 22, 20th Century Studios’ all-new action-adventure spectacle, Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes, made a trip to Venice Beach to get some sun, catch some waves and promote the film to onlookers lucky enough to be there. The apes on horseback was a clever idea and looked very reminiscent of the original 1968 film Planet Of The Apes.
The film opens in movie theaters globally on May 10, 2024, and will be available in IMAX®, Dolby Cinema®, 4Dx, and premium screens everywhere. Be among the first to see Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes on the big screen at the early access screening on May 8th.

Hernan Lopez, the former 21st Century Fox executive who launched podcasting giant Wondery in 2016, has set up consulting firm Owl & Co. aimed at delivering data and analysis designed to help media and entertainment businesses manage the transition to the streaming era.
Lopez has put early emphasis on a deep-dive study of the streaming content marketplace, using available viewership and spending data to crunch the Roi numbers based on the cost of TV series and movies. After a decade of Peak TV production activity, scrutiny of such expenditures is increasing in Hollywood’s C-suites. Among Lopez’s first wave of clients is North Road Co., the film and TV production and distribution company formed last year by Peter Chernin, who was previously Lopez’s boss at Fox.

The new blood-soaked Fear Street movie in the works at Netflix has unveiled its first castmembers.
Fear Street: Prom Queen will be led by India Fowler, Suzanna Son, Fina Strazza, David Iacono and Ella Rubin. Chris Klein, Lili Taylor and Katherine Waterston round out the ensemble cast of Matt Palmer’s genre film.
Palmer and Donald McLeary are adapting the novel from R.L. Stine’s popular Fear Street book series, with Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping and Kori Adelson producing for Chernin Entertainment.
Fear Street: Prom Queen will be set during prom season at Shadyside High, as “the school’s wolfpack of It Girls is busy with its usual sweet and vicious campaigns for the crown,” according to its logline. “But when a gutsy outsider is unexpectedly nominated to the court, and the other girls start mysteriously disappearing, the class of ’88 is suddenly in for one hell of a prom night.

Director Leigh Janiak and the Netflix streaming service brought us a really fun horror event back in the summer of 2021 with the Fear Street trilogy. Three films that were filmed back-to-back-to-back and then released over the course of three weeks – those films being Fear Street Part One: 1994, Fear Street Part Two: 1978, and Fear Street Part Three: 1666. It was an instant franchise, and had the potential to lead to many more films… because, after all, author R.L. Stine has written over 100 books that have been published under the various Fear Street banners. A while back, Scott Stuber, the head of Netflix Film, said they were developing a new standalone Fear Street project. Then Stine took to social media to reveal that the fourth Fear Street movie would be based on his 1992 book The Prom Queen… and now Fear Street: Prom Queen has a cast! Netflix has announced (via Deadline) that the...

"I believe you have my stapler." Odds are, the majority of people who enjoy comedy films would be able to tell you that quote is from "Office Space." Directed by "Beavis and Butthead" creator Mike Judge, it was his first live-action feature and would probably rank near the top of any list of things he's made if one were to conduct an informal survey of his fans. That's the way it is now. In 1999 when the film first hit theaters? Not so much. "Office Space" majorly disappointed against high expectations and, at least at first, seemed like it was going to be forgotten to time. Then a straight-up cult developed around the workplace comedy and it's now a part of the fabric of popular culture.

Box to Box Films, the production company behind Netflix’s Formula 1: Drive To Survive, has secured a multi-million dollar investment.
Deadline understands that private equity investor Bruin Capital has invested in the company. It’s not clear what stake Bruin has taken, but it’s believed to be a minority investment.
Box to Box, which is also behind series such as Netflix tennis series Break Point, golf series Full Swing and a new Apple TV+ show about Major League Soccer, is the latest documentary company, with an interest in sports, to score investment.
Peyton Manning’s Omaha Productions sold a stake to Peter Chernin’s The North Road Company and Boardwalk Pictures, which is behind Netflix’s NBA series The Long Game and Cheer, sold a stake to investment firm Shamrock Capital.
Box to Box was founded by Amy and Senna producer James Gay-Rees and Paul Martin, who produced HBO’s Maradona.

A favorite and feverish game from Wall Street to Hollywood heading into 2024 is pairing up media companies, or pieces of them, to see what fits where in a high-stakes jigsaw puzzle that will shape the future of the industry.
Ongoing streaming losses, anticipated interest rate cuts (that could lower financing costs), more robust stock prices and the end of WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes — as well as actual, high-level conversations — have many believing that sluggish media M&a of all sizes could pick up dramatically in the new year. Just in this last week of 2023, Warner Bros. Discovery acquired Turkish streaming service BlueTV, Altice USA sold financial news streamer Cheddar and Lionsgate closed its acquisition of eOne.
There’s a logic to bigger deals as well. With Disney being “the only scaled legacy media company,” wrote Vijay Jayant of Evercore Isi, “a merger of some combination of NBCUniversal, Paramount, and Warner Bros Discovery has strong economic rationale.

Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden wrapped up a weekend of fundraising in Los Angeles on Sunday, with a record amount raised.
More than $15 million was raised through the weekend, including for the Biden Victory Fund, said campaign co-chair Jeffrey Katzenberg, founding partner of WndrCo. That is the most raised for a single visit to Los Angeles of any president or presidential candidate, he said.
It also surpassed the amount raised by Barack Obama in May, 2012, when Obama headlined a fundraiser at the home of George Clooney and co-hosted by Katzenberg. That fundraising trip brought in almost $15 million.
Through the weekend, Biden and the first lady headlined seven events, including private gatherings with high-dollar donors and a Hollywood-centric fundraiser on Friday evening at the Holmby Hills home of James Costos, the former U.S. ambassador to Spain, and designer Michael Smith. Updated, with complete remarks: President Joe Biden told the crowd at a fundraiser this evening, “You’re the reason that Donald Trump is a former president, or he hates when I say it, a defeated president.”
At the Holmby Hills home of designer Michael Smith and former ambassador James Costos, Biden rallied his donors, many of whom backed him in the last campaign, while turning his focus on his likely 2024 rival. He spent a substantial part of his remarks warning of Trump as a threat to democracy, a contrast that many of the president’s steadfast backers believe will boost support as the 2024 campaign gets in full swing.
“Literally, I believe, the future of democracy is at stake,” Biden said, according to a pool report. “The greatest threat Trump poses is to our democracy, because if we lost that, we lose everything.” Read his complete remarks at the end of the story.

Others chairing or hosting the event include Ted Boutrous and Helen Boutrous, Rick Caruso and Tina Caruso, Peter Chernin and Megan Chernin, Morgan Cox and Derrall Hill Jr., John Emerson and Kimberly Marteau Emerson,...

Exclusive: Half Yard Productions, the company behind TLC’s long-running series Say Yes To The Dress, is losing its two most senior executives.
CEO Dirk Hoogstra and Chief Creative Officer Nicole Sorrenti are exiting the company, which is owned by Peter Chernin’s The North Road Company. North Road took it over as part of its deal to acquire the U.S. assets of Red Arrow Studios last year.
It follows layoffs within the company over the summer as North Road looked to “right-size” the business.
It comes at a difficult time for unscripted producers; many companies in the genre are struggling as buying seems to have hit a low and the writers and actors strike didn’t bring any boom to the area, as happened with the 07/08 strike. There are fewer places to sell unscripted reality series and the market has been hurting.

Banijay, the French TV production super-indie, has made an offer for All3Media.
All3Media is the production-distribution giant behind shows including Jamie Dornan-starrer “The Tourist,” Phoebe Waller Bridge’s “Fleabag” and Dutch gameshow hit “The Traitors.”
Warner Bros. Discovery and Liberty Global, the joint owners of All3Media, quietly put the company up for sale earlier this year.
Initially the U.K.’s commercial public service broadcaster ITV expressed an interest before pulling out, with sources suggesting ITV, which also owns production company ITV Studios, was spooked by market conditions as well as the potential conflict of interest in the production space.
Peter Chernin’s Northroad Company also reportedly submitted a bid before withdrawing from the process.
As Variety reported in July, Mediawan, Banijay and Sony subsequently emerged as the frontrunners to buy the company.
Variety understands that Banijay recently submitted an offer but as yet have not heard back.

Banijay is in the driving seat to buy All3Media, Deadline understands.
Sources have indicated that the Big Brother and Survivor behemoth is now leading the pack and, according to Reuters, Banijay has submitted a binding offer.
All3Media’s owners Warner Bros. Discovery (Wbd) and Liberty Global received offers last week for the Squid Game: The Challenge and Traitors producer-distributor, which is valued at around £1B ($1.3B). Others aside from Banijay are said to remain in the process.
The All3 sale has been one of the key talking points at this week’s Content London, and two sources have indicated to Deadline that Banijay is well placed. Sellers are expected to award exclusivity to one bidder as soon as the end of this week, a source told Reuters.

Financed by Apple Original Films and distributed by Sony, the Joaquin Phoenix-led film just outperformed expectations with $32.7 million over the five-day Thanksgiving window, and Walsh believes that Napoleon’s production and distribution arrangement is the ideal way forward for streamers who want to make big-budget plays.
