- He was cast in the film Birthday Girl, filmed in Australian in 2001, as an Airport Official, in a scene with Nicole Kidman and Ben Chaplin. Unfortunately, the scene was only filmed by the producers to appease the Australian actors union, who demanded there be at least two Australian actors in the supporting cast. The scene was re shot in England with a British actor.
- Steve is a Pisces.
- He wrote a play about actors, "Legend vs Legend". After it's performance, in a small theatre in Sydney, Jonathan Hardy, writer of the screenplay for Breaker Morant, rose from the audience and angrily yelled out to everyone; "This play is an insult to all actors.".
- In his role in "The Code", while he was running his scene with Ashley Zukerman before shooting, he was concerned to discover that Ashley was stammering and hesitating with every line. He presumed Ashley was having trouble remembering his lines. For the line run, he slowed down his cue lines; thinking this would help Ashley; giving him more time to remember his lines. After the rehearsal, the director, Shawn Seet, approached Steve with the dreaded warning: "Less is more". Every actor knows this is code for "Stop over acting". Steve was offended, but decided not to explain why he was delivering his lines like this in the rehearsal - and if his fellow actor did not know his lines when shooting started; then that's between him and the director. Filming began, and Ashley proceeded to deliver every line with the same stuttering and stammering as rehearsal. Steve expected all hell to break loose but Shawn Seet said nothing. Steve later found out that, while it did not indicate this in the script, that Ashley's character had a stutter.
