So You Think You Can Dance has been a mainstay of Fox‘s reality show lineup since it debuted in 2005. The show has featured many entertainers as judges during its runtime, both full-time and as special guests. Given the longevity of So You Think You Can Dance, it can be hard to remember who has appeared on the show and when. Here is a full rundown of Sytycd’s judges.
All of the guest judges on ‘So You Think You Can Dance’
The format of So You Think You Can Dance has broadly stayed the same throughout each season. The panel comprises two to four permanent judges, with guest stars joining in occasionally. For callback episodes and season finales, the panel could rise to twice or more its normal size.
Here is a list of the guest judges who have appeared in each season of So You Think You Can Dance.

Justin Bieber doesn't hang with people named John. Or David or Peter. The disciples of Biebs have names like Lil Twist, Lil Za and Crazy Khalil. Even his dad, a grown ass man, calls himself Lord Rauhl (né Jeremy Bieber). If you want to be in Bieber's posse, you need a cool posse nickname. It's easy to get one. Just use the first letter of your first name and the first letter of your last name to find out: First Name: A = Kid B = Lil C = Bizzy D = Lil E = Lord F = Crazy G = Crazier H = Lil I = Mah Man J = Big K = Lil L = Fly M = Canadian Prime...

Our top four dancers have done all they can and the votes are in... but which two will be named the winners of So You Think You Can Dance? After welcoming the previous top 16 contenders, here they are: Eliana, Chehon, Tiffany and Cyrus! The winners might have already been chosen, but before we find out the names of the lucky victors, we've got a two-hour show to get through! And because it's the finale, things are even bigger than normal - joining Nigel and Mary on the panel are (breathe in): Lil' C, Adam Shankman, Debbie Allen and Tyce Diorio. Phew! Cat Deeley's looking absolutely stunning and it seems Nigel's getting a bit overexcited, because he's started shouting: "Gangnam style!" So perhaps it's best if we move straight on to the first group routine, featuring the entire top 20. The dance, choreographed by Christopher Scott and (more)...

The So You Think You Can Dance auditions are over, and if the hopefuls thought that was the hard bit, they ain't seen nothing yet. We're in Las Vegas for the callbacks and the word "gruelling" seems pretty appropriate. After all, we have to cut 181 contestants down to just 20! There are eight rounds ahead - solos, hip-hop, broadway, jazz, groups, ballroom, contemporary and final solos - and of course there are judges to impress! Say hello to Lil' C, Debbie Allen, Adam Shankman, Tyce Diorio, Mary Murphy and, of course, Nigel Lythgoe. Solos The dancers are all screaming and excited, but all it takes is for Nigel to tell them that if their solo doesn't stand up they'll be sent home, and suddenly they have rather glum faces (maybe it's all the talk of "massive cuts"). Still, time to get things going! We meet Hampton Williams (more)...

Dancers brave a week of grueling callback auditions as 'Sytycd' narrows down the field in Las Vegas.

I laughed, I cried, I shrieked, I squealed ... clearly Fox's "So You Think You Can Dance" has made its triumphant return for Season 9.
While the show is changing things up this season -- dropping down from two nights a week, to one night (and I'll be honest I'm apprehensive about the new format) -- I resolved to stop the nail biting until June 27th when they'll announce the Top 20, and just enjoy the auditions. After all, it has been practically a year since I've craughed (the combination of crying and laughing) along with Mary Murphy, developed an even bigger crush on Nigel Lythgoe and watched in awe as the contestants throw themselves all around the "Sytycd" stage for our own personal enjoyment.

With "American Idol's" winner -- Phillip Phillips -- declared, Fox and producer Nigel Lythgoe are ready to move on to the summer portion of their reality competition entertainment: "So You Think You Can Dance's" Season 9.
Host Cat Deeley returns to shepherd the competition through the summer while Lythgoe and Mary Murphy are returning to their usual spots behind the judges' table. But, there are a few changes in store for this season -- which isn't surprising to die-hard "Sytycd" fans. Let's review them before the action kicks off tonight with the first audition show:
It takes two: Two winners -- one male and one female -- will be declared this season for the first time in the show's history. While that's fabulous news for the 2012 crop of dancers we wish it had been a possibility last year so Marko Germar could have joined champion Melanie Moore in the winners' circle.

"So You Think You Can Dance" is back and kicking — literally. Limbs flew left, right, center and even behind the head, as season nine of the dance competition premiered Thursday night (May 24) with the first round of auditions in New York and Texas. Dancers from all over the world auditioned for a golden ticket to Sin City, showcasing a dynamic range of artists, styles and emotional stories.
Both cities delivered a plethora of highly skilled, highly entertaining and highly ridiculous talent. The highlight of the first auditions was not the usual crowd-pleasing contemporary and hip-hop styles, but rather, unique and inventive forms of dance, including animation, lyrical freestyle and ... exorcism?

"So You Think You Can Dance" fans won't be surprised to learn that, yet again, the Nigel Lythgoe-run passion project is changing the game on its dancing contestants. For the first time, two winners will be named at the end of Season 9 -- one male and one female.
The bad news for "Sytycd" fans: Fox cut the results show, so there will only be one dose each week.
How will that affect viewer voting? As Zap2it previously reported, ouples at risk after a prior week's performance will be asked to perform solo routines the next week then the judges will decide who is eliminated.
The good news: Jesse Tyler Ferguson ("Modern Family") will be returning to the judge's table along with other guests, including Debbie Allen, Lil' C, Tyce Diorio and Adam Shankman. Host Cat Deeley, along with full-time judges Lythgoe and Mary Murphy will also be back for the summer.

The final result of "So You Think You Can Dance" season 8 did not fall from predictions. Having been judges' favorite since her audition, Melanie Moore was announced as the champion on the Thursday (August 11) show, with 47 percent of total vote.
Another female dancer on the top four, Sasha Mallory, was placed second. Meanwhile, 22-year-old Marko Germar, who once made Lady GaGa cry with his routine on Top 8 performance night, and 25-year-old Tadd Gadduang were the third placer and fourth placer respectively.
On the final result show, all top 20 dancers from this season returned to stage to perform. The judges, that include Nigel Lythgoe, Mary Murphy, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Robin Antin and Lil' C, picked the routines that were performed by the contestants that night.
Later, the top 10 dancers from the season are scheduled to embark on a 32-city tour on September 17. The stops include Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City...

Christina Applegate of Kelly Bundy and Samantha Who fame joined the judging panel last night, and she actually had a bit more dance cred than most guest judges this season, having been nominated for a Tony for the Broadway revival of Sweet Charity. She wound up being a pretty competent judge, although at this point, with only six great dancers left, there's not a lot to actually criticize.
But me, I'm sure I can find something!
Like maybe Lil' C. Oh Lil' C. Can you just not talk and just sit there and be pretty?. Because you sure are pretty. (Or "buck" as you would say). But those inane extended rhymes you do with the highfalutin' adjectives make me want to tear my hair (and your cornrows) out. How I wonder do you keep getting invited back to the judging panel?
Another thing worth complaining about: choreographers that use a lot of gimmicky props.

One week out from the finale, the skill level of the remaining six dancers competing for the "So You Think You Can Dance" title is painfully good. The kind of good that makes judges and viewers cry (Sasha!) and allows one dancer so magnificently gifted to come up with the best solo ever danced on the show just moments before she stepped on stage.
On Wednesday (Aug. 3), Caitlynn, Marko, Melanie, Ricky, Sasha and Tadd showed us what it takes to get to the highest levels of the competition. All six dancers possess incredible agility, impeccable technical skills and heart to spare. But only one dancer has that little something extra that sets her apart from the rest.
I mean, really, it's as if Melanie was literally born to dance. Since the top 20 were picked so many weeks ago in Las Vegas, this competition has been Melanie's to lose and she hasn't lost us yet.

Los Angeles, California (X17online) - Season 10 American Idol finalist Pia Toscano is set to star in yet another reality TV competition. On the August 4 episode of Fox's So You Think You Can Dance, Toscano will perform her debut single, "This Time." She will be joined by guest judges Christina Applegate and Lil' C. Widely considered the breakout star of the most recent season of Idol, Toscano's elimination left many in shock - including judge Jennifer Lopez, who was brought to tears upon hearing the news. Despite the letdown, Toscano is well on her way to musical stardom; she announced her recording contract with Interscope Records on July 5, 2011 and is currently touring with the 2011 American Idols Live Tour. To catch the Sytycd live performance shows, tune in to Fox at 8 p.m. Wednesdays.

Kristin Chenoweth is guest judging! We totally love her. She's on "Glee" sometimes and she's got that sweet-as-syrup Southern accent and she's just adorable. She joins Lil' C, Mary Murphy and Nigel Lythgoe to preside over the top 16 as they dance their way through the next round of competition.
Cat Deeley is channeling Daisy Buchanan, but whatever. We're so happy about Chenoweth we can't summon the energy to snark at Cat. We're just fired up and ready to sit here on the couch with some cookies and wine and watch some world class body moving.
There will be dancing and, oh yes, there will be kissing. Let's break it down, couple-by-couple:
Sasha and Alexander
What can we say? A beautiful routine that was kind of cheesed out by the addition of a prop piano and a gimmicky finish. Sasha and Alexander are both, as Kristin Chenoweth points out, beautiful dancers.

We've been through cross-country auditions and Las Vegas week, but 20 dancers walked the "So You Think You Can Dance" green mile to make it to the finals of our favorite dance competition. And, lucky for them and us, no one went home this week and the dancers got to show off their skills in their native genres.
The first four dancers to make it into the top 20 performed (in front of a live studio audience, no less) the first routine of the night to The Irrepressibles' harmony-heavy "In This Shirt." The Stacey Tookey-choreographed routine was modern and floaty -- all pale folds of flowing fabric and fog machines obscuring the dancers' feet.
Our first four were all from the contemporary end of the spectrum: Rickey Jaime, an 18-year-old from Tampa, Fla.; Miranda Maleski, a 19-year-old from North Hollywood, Calif. (who told Zap2it she danced on stage behind Kanye West at Coachella); Melanie Moore,...

After Wednesday night's (June 23) episode of "So You Think You Can Dance" and with only 10 contestants remaining, it's easy to say that at this point, it's anyone's game. There weren't any outstanding performances (such as Alex Wong's last week) nor were there any terrible routines that made the judges say "get ready to dance for your life tomorrow." But although there was a lack of standing ovations, dramatic tears or complete upsets, one thing is for sure: We got to see many of the dancers step out of their comfort zones.
The best was getting to see Billy Bell, the amazing technical contemporary dancer, attempt to krump in a routine with Comfort that was choreographed by Lil C. He definitely seemed out of place, which Adam pointed out was a "failed experiment," but I'll have to agree with Nigel in that he really tried his best and gave it his all.

Switching things up on "So You Think You Can Dance" even included the audition process this season, as executive producer Nigel Lythgoe and his fellow judges Adam Shankman, Mia Michaels, Lil' C, Toni Redpath, Tyce Diorio and Mary Murphy traveled to the homes of the Vegas finalists to deliver the good (or bad) news in person.

"So You Think You Can Dance" Vegas, kids.
Korbi TV spent a little quality time with judge/choreographer Lil' C during the Sin City auditions -- which are airing this week -- and got the word on what's buck about Season 7...
...Like the returning all stars, each of whom C says he's really excited to see dance again. He's also looking forward to having them mentor the show's new finalists and act as a support system for them as the season moves forward.
Take a look for more on that, plus a little extra C philosophy...

(S06E24) From six to one, it was a night of eliminations on the sixth season finale of So You Think You Can Dance. They even trotted out six judges to sit in on the festivities. Joining Nigel Lythgoe, Mary Murphy and Adam Shankman on the dais were Lil' C, Tyce Diorio and Debbie Allen.
This allowed the show to have the judges "pick" their favorite performances of the season and have them performed again. I'm always suspect as to just how many of these choices are truly the picks of each particular judge, or if the judges are just chosen to introduce the dances the producers want to showcase again.
We also got guest appearances by dance troupe The Groovaloos, and a quartet of singers: Mary J. Blige, Jennifer Lopez, Leona Lewis and Adam Lambert. They didn't all sing together, but could you imagine that performance if they had?...

With Adam Shankman hogging the third chair this season, there's been a disturbing lack of the Bard of Bucc this season. While I do miss the poetic ramblings of Lil' C more than I'm comfortable admitting, it seems there is a new non-sensical force to be reckoned with on season 6 of So You Think You Can Dance. I am, of course, talking about pop jazz and hip hop choreographer Laurieann Gibson.
Where Lil' C left off, Laurieann seems to be picking up with strange, screaming abandon. While we've only gotten a taste of Laurieann on season 6, they're unforgettable moments. I'm certain Nathan and Mollee won't soon forget their soul search scream session and choreo round with Laurieann. Much like her poetic predecesor Laurieann doesn't just save her crazy for the camera, she also let's it run full force on her Twitter.

Maybe it was unintentional, but this season of "So You Think You Can Dance" is suddenly more Debbie Downer than "Extreme Makeover." What doesn't America know about you, Karen? "I'm getting a divorce because my husband didn't make it to the top 20." What has been the highlight of being on the show, Phillip? "When my father passed away last week ..." What was the best part about racing lawnmowers, Channing? Oh, never mind. Between the awkward sob stories and two couples' unbelievably bad luck, let's just say Cat Deeley has her work cut out for her as she tries to end every segment on a high note.
Despite getting four dancers out of the way before we were finally able to vote this week, there are still a lot left — too many to recap all of them. So here's my brief assessment of the hot tamales and the ... stale tortilla chips?...

On Wednesday (Sept. 16) morning, Fox made the big announcement that "Hairspray" director Adam Shankman was going to take a place as resident judge on the sixth season of "So You Think You Can Dance," which made us wonder about the fate of veteran "Sytycd" guest judges including Debbie Allen, Mandy Moore, Tyce Diorio, Mia Michaels, Tabitha & Napoleon and Lil C. Fortunately and conveniently, Fox had already set up a conference call with series judge/co-creator/exec-producer Nigel Lythgoe, so I made a point to ask about how a permanent three-judge panel would impact future guest judges. "It's always difficult to...

(S05E23) I think Cat Deeley looked fabulous tonight. The panel was chock-full of choreographers: Lil' C, Mia Michaels, Tyce Diorio, Debbie Allen, Adam Shankman, Mary Murphy and Nigel Lythgoe. They brought them all up on the dais so they could each choose their favorite dances from throughout the season. That means encore performances of the best of Season 5. That's not a bad way to fill two hours.
In the end, though, it comes down to Kayla, Brandon, Jeanine and Evan. Who did America love the most last night and throughout the summer? The recap actually gave me tingles. Despite a distinct lack of personalities, there were some stunning moments of dance. And I'm ever so thrilled that the new season is less than a month away. It's a long show, so hang in there.Continue reading So You Think You Can Dance: America's Favorite Dancer (season finale)

On Wednesday night's "So You Think You Can Dance" — in between the competition's first-ever ballet performance and its first actually entertaining quickstep — executive producer and judge Nigel Lythgoe came clean about a rumor that's been circulating for weeks: Katie Holmes is, in fact, going to be on the show. More important, he explained why: She is one of the founding members of the brand-new Dizzy Feet Foundation.
Holmes, Lythgoe, director/choreographer Adam Shankman and "Dancing With the Stars" judge Carrie Ann Inaba teamed up to create the foundation, which seeks to provide dance scholarships to underserved and at-risk youth, as well as to create an accreditation program for dance schools nationwide.

Could Katie Holmes shake her booty on the So You Think You Can Dance stage sometime this summer? That's the story that appeared earlier this week in Life & Style magazine, but so far it remains only a sketchy rumor. Fox network reps and Katie Holmes' people had no comment on the matter, and Sytcyd's twittering judges, Nigel Lythgoe, Lil' C and Adam Shankman, are staying mum. But what did Paris Torres and Tony Bellissimo, season five's first eliminated dancers, reveal about the prospect of Mrs. Cruise appearing on the hit reality competition? Here's what they just told us... When asked about if she had heard that the actress would be appearing on the show, Paris said,...
