Most famous for his song, "Sentimental Lady", which originally was recorded by Fleetwood Mac in 1972 and then rerecorded by Welch as a solo act in 1977. "Sentimental Lady" reached #8 in the U.S. charts, remaining in the Billboard Top 20 for months.
Fell out with his former bandmates after suing the group in 1994 for unpaid royalties, this led to his exclusion from the group's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction in 1998.
