Gina Gershon has revealed that filming House of Versace gave her bronchitis.
The actress had to smoke as she portrayed Donatella Versace in the Lifetime movie.
She admitted to trying healthy alternatives, but said they didn't work out.
She said to Access Hollywood Live: "They even tried to give me the fake cigarettes because they thought they would be better, but those just killed me. There's so much oil in them.
"So I just started smoking a lot before I went into it, so I could work myself up to it. As soon as it was over, I was like, 'Thank God!', and then I smoked a little bit when I was doing the looping... but I wasn't used to it and I got bronchitis."
The film will follow Versace's journey to continue the legacy of her late brother Gianni, following his murder in 1997.

Donatella Versace is no stranger to parody.
On Saturday Night Live, Maya Rudolph famously portrayed a chain-smoking, stumbling, mumbling version of the Italian designer who could scarcely be understood until she screamed her tagline, "Now get out!"
Gina Gershon now takes on the stormy blond fashion icon for the upcoming Lifetime original movie House of Versace, and the actress, 51, is looking the part.
Gershon emanates Versace with her faraway gaze and signature pout, which the actress perfected by stuffing a bit of cotton under her upper lip.
"It's movie magic," Gershon tells the New York Post. "A little tape and glue.

Gershon is the spitting image of the famed designer in the shot, sporting Donatella's long blond locks, signature plump lips and dark smoky eyes. The actress' chestnut brown locks and dark features are nowhere in sight as she purses her pout just like Donatella while rocking flashy jewelry and a silver metallic dress. Based on Wall Street Journal reporter Deborah Ball's book House of Versace: The Untold Story of Genius, Murder, and Survival, the flick...

Everyone has an image in their head of what a Lifetime Original Movie is. We think of them as starring washed up television actors who are giving terrible performances in overly schmaltzy stories centered on serious topics like domestic abuse and human trafficking. I mean, don’t we? Well, it looks like that standard operating procedure is changing over at the Lifetime Network, because THR has just released casting info for their upcoming biopic of fashion mogul Donatella Versace, and it’s actually loaded with great people. The movie is going to be called House of Versace, and it’s set to star Gina Gershon as the blonde-haired, tan-skinned head of the Versace Group, which she took over after her icon of a brother, Gianni Versace, was murdered in 1997. Gershon, in addition to being a lady who will likely look appropriately ridiculous in a bleach blonde wig, is still a damn strong actress who has given a...
