"The Queen of Peak TV" strikes again.
Suffice it to say, beginning with The Veil Season 1 Episode 1, this series premiere was a tour de force in acting, writing, and dialogue.
Elisabeth Moss's streak of delivering must-see TV is at an all-time high with this thriller series. There is almost no doing justice to how incredibly crafted this story is.
Even with the bar set to stratospheric, The Veil exceeded expectations by introducing audiences to the presence that is Imogen Salter.
Tomas: Everything will be completed once we get to Berlin and you have been invaluable.
Imogen: Thank you, Tomas. I don't think you'll feel the same in a moment when Interpol arrives, though.
Tomas: What are you talking about? Who are you?
Imogen: I'm the person who has recorded and memorized every move you've made and every word you've said for the last 37 days.

Interpol has a devoted following in Latin America, and they’ve always been particularly popular in Mexico, where lead singer Paul Banks spent time living as a teenager. On Saturday, April 20, the elegant masters of shadow-toned rock & roll thanked one of their most loyal fanbases by putting on a free show in Mexico City’s Zócalo. An estimated 160,000 people showed up to see them, filling the huge public square and marking the biggest audience Interpol has ever played for in their 25-year-plus career. The Brooklyn art-pop duo Water From Your Eyes,...

Death and Other Details Episode 3 added a few more twists and turns to the murder investigation of David/Keith, Rufus’ assistant. Imogen helped Rufus as much as possible before she had to get others involved lest Interpol be notified about her covert activities. We can expect the case will have some more twists and turns, considering it’s just the third episode. There is a lot more hidden in Varuna, and Imogen discovers secret passageways, confirming exactly that. But before all that happened, a few secrets came out in the open, and the facade of a righteous life was shattered. How that would impact the case is yet to be determined. Rufus, meanwhile, had the pleasure of working with Interpol’s ‘best man,’ a woman named Hilde Erikson, as she bulldozed her way into the investigation, trying to get to the truth as quickly as possible.

CinemaBlind’s Review – 70%
F. Gary Gray‘s latest Netflix heist film is coming tomorrow and for the people who are excited about film Lift, CinemaBlind is here to watch and judge the upcoming film in advance for you. Starring Kevin Hart in the leading role, the film revolves around a group of master thieves whom Interpol catches at the beginning of the film, but they are offered full immunity and in turn, they will have to pull off a seemingly impossible heist.
Lift is another one of Netflix’s blockbuster cinema like what they tried to do with Ryan Reynolds‘ 6 Underground and Red Notice, but the good thing here is that it is better than both of those films but it is also nowhere near the great heist film like Ocean’s Eleven or Gary Gray’s own The Italian Job.

Keanu Reeves has opened up about his admiration for Interpol and Kim Gordon in the latest episode of Amoeba Records’ “What’s in My Bag?” YouTube series.
Reeves’ band Dogstar — which recently reunited for the first time in two decades with their album Somewhere Between the Power Lines and Palm Trees — perused the Hollywood, California record store for vinyl of their choice, and broke down their picks.
The bassist-actor’s first vinyl was a massive special edition of Richard Wagner’s Der Ring des Nibelungen, as performed by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. “One of the joys of going to a record store is discovery, but also like there’s things in life… Aren’t there things in life you’ve heard about but never experienced?” beamed Reeves.
His second pick was Interpol’s 2022 LP. “Big fan of this band, Interpol,” Reeves said, while flipping the vinyl to admire its artwork.

There are few bad days that can’t be remedied by watching an episode of Would I Lie To You?
This award-winning BBC panel show has been making us laugh for over 15 years thanks to hilarious repeat performances from the likes of Bob Mortimer and Rhod Gilbert, and the top-tier chemistry between team captains Lee Mack and David Mitchell and host Rob Brydon.
It’s created so many legendary funny moments that picking a favourite is almost impossible, but here are the Would I Lie To You? stories that have gone down in TV history:
16. Henning Wehn Goes Missing in Morocco
Henning Wehn appears to have gone to the Kevin Bridges School of Storytelling (more on that later) – his yarns have a similarly scatter-brained approach that are pleasingly impossible to predict. Here he claims Interpol listed him as a missing person when he went on a bike ride in Spain...

It took a global pandemic to get Interpol frontman Paul Banks to speak at a reasonable volume. For two decades, the singer and multi-instrumentalist has done a fairly good impression of a fire searcher, shouting through post-punk smoke at survivors. But because the band wrote its seventh full-length remotely, he mostly abandoned the known pleasures of Ian Curtis worship for a more nuanced approach. Banks’ version of keening (which is still pretty full-throated) kicked over a chain of dominos, which allow Interpol to make more introspective, textured, and altogether breathable...

I love it when a plan comes together.
The words of A-Team leader Hannibal Smith were never more prophetic than on Blood & Treasure Season 1 Episode 13.
Suddenly, the little oddities from through the season made much more sense.
And we also got to enjoy some character growth, which is also a plus on summer froth such as this.
Somebody was going to get Jacob Reece for all the wrongs he had done throughout his decades-long quest for the sarcophagi of Anthony and Cleopatra.
Danny and Lexi wanted to bring him down.
Also, the son he had never claimed was also working to, well, kill him.
More on the season's big surprise later.

The star-studded mystery movie has more than just scarves up its sleeve.
Opening wide May 31, Now You See Me follows an Interpol detective (Mélanie Laurent) and an FBI agent (Mark Ruffalo) as they track down a team of bank-robbing magicians — but the real trick comes at the very end of the 115-minute flick, when the story takes a twist audiences will have to see to believe. And even then, they still might not believe it.

Michael York dashes onto the cinematic scene as the blundering but very enthusiastic D'Artagnan in Richard Lester's hugely enjoyable period comic romp. The late great Roy Kinnear is the long-suffering vassal of aristocratic swordsmen Oliver Reed, Richard Chamberlain and Frank Finlay, whilst Raquel Welch and Faye Dunaway shine as heroine and villainess, respectively. Producers Alexander and Ilya Salkind filmed the following year's sequel back-to-back with this more successful first part, which approach they would revisit shortly for Superman and Superman II. There are less than two weeks left until Christmas, which means that you should really be shoring up your shopping list and finalizing your travel plans. Stress will be at an all-time high over the next 11 days, which means that you may need a laugh before bed more than ever. Luckily, your friends at late night are here to help. Amazingly, nobody is on vacation this week, which means that your cup runneth over with after-hours options. Start with "The Late Show With David Letterman," which features visits from Ricky Gervais (Monday, December 13), Paul Rudd (Tuesday, December 14) and Matt Damon and Florence & the Machine (Thursday, December 16). Over on "The Tonight Show," you can spend time with the freshly-married Good Charlotte (Monday), Jack Black and Michael Buble (Tuesday), Jason Segal (Thursday) and Elle Fanning (Friday, December 17).
Choosing "Jimmy Kimmel Live" will yield interviews with Mark Wahlberg (Thursday) and Jeff Bridges (Friday...

Halloween week just keeps rolling on tonight with a whole slew of new Halloween themed episodes for your viewing enjoyment. I actually don't have a lot of time for TV this week since forces have conspired to make me Extra Super Mondo Busy but I appreciate that it's all happening and most of it I'll be able to see on Hulu. It is actually the thought of Halloween that's dragging me through the worst parts; that Sunday night I'll get to dress up in something I'd never wear otherwise and go out to the giant street party that is Miami on Halloween and try and break my record for variety of containers to drink alcohol out of in one night. Last year was a highlight, since I ran into some sexy lumberjacks carrying around sweet tea vodka in syrup bottles. Anyway, here's your Wednesday night TV:

Carlsbad - LEGOs…those colorful blocks that snap together so easily. Many view them as a childhood toy, but they’re serious fun among collectors and adult builders. They can vacation at the American LEGOland. They can get those rare pieces at Lego stores across the country in malls. Lego video games featuring Star Wars, Batman and Indiana Jones are all the rage. Keeping up with what’s happening in Lego is about as foreboding a task as your mother keeping up with your LEGOs.
Joe Meno organizes the Lego universe through BrickJournal magazine. The periodical announces upcoming products, events and how-to articles by top buildings. It’s a coffeetable magazine featuring all the Lego pieces your kids lost under the sofa. The pages are addictive even for someone mildly interested in Lego with illustrations that show how the plastic building blocks can snap into amazing works of art. For...

"America's Next Top Model" returns tonight to the joy and delight of all (okay, mainly to the joy and delight of figgy). I won't be watching, because I've seen a significant amount of the show thanks to my sister and it suffers from the same problem as all reality shows; while I am vaguely interested in the topics they cover (modeling, fashion, make up, etc.) I am not at all interested in the contestants. You know why Tyra makes it all about her? Because most of the girls on that show aren't half as interesting as they like to think they are. And we're supposed to be interesting when they stir shit up? Listen, you lock me in a house with at least a dozen other women between 18 and 24 with no regular TV, internet, or phone access and I'd probably get a little crazy and eat someone else's yogurt or whatever the hell too.

With the summer basically over and everybody back to work and school, it's time to get back to the business of late night hosts chatting up celebrities and throwing to hot musical acts. Everybody is back with a vengeance this week, save for the perpetually-on-hiatus Carson Daly and, strangely, "Lopez Tonight"), meaning that there will be a glut of big-time stars keeping you up well past your bed time. If you're into a louder sort of slumber, tune in to "The Late Show With David Letterman," as he'll welcome the always-excellent Black Angels (Wednesday, September 8th) as well as Jamey Johnson (Thursday, September 9).
For a kinder, gentler late night experience, "The Tonight Show" should be your destination. In addition to chatting with the adorable Carey Mulligan (Tuesday, September 7) and Video Music Awards host Chelsea Handler (Wednesday), Jay Leno will welcome the musical stylings of Ray Lamontagne (Wednesday), David Gray (Thursday) and Sarah McLachlan (Friday,...

Activision and the "Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock" team paced themselves publicizing the full set list of more than 90 tracks that's slated to appear in the game, but they've put it all out there as of this week, and before you even make it to Soundgarden's full "Telephantasm" album that's coming bundled in the first shipment of units, you'll have a long list of core game tunes to thrash through including The Hives' "Tick Tick Boom" and multiple Megadeth and Rush numbers.
"We engaged our fans to find out what they really wanted and then hand-picked over 90 tracks that deliver the ultimate rock experience," Guitar Hero vice president of music affairs Tim Riley said in a press release. "From the new guitar controller to the gameplay to the on-disc set list, 'Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock' is truly a return to rock."

I had this entire column written and between finishing it and saving it my computer froze and it all disappeared. I'd be more upset, but it wasn't that super good in the first place, but I'm not going to reproduce the whole thing from memory because frankly that's a waste of everyone's time. Anyway, lesson learned, save frequently, all that good stuff. Here's Thursday night's TV:
8:00pm: "Big Brother" on CBS
9:00pm: "Burn Notice" on USA
"Mary Knows Best" on SyFy
"Police Women of Memphis" on Tlc. I don't understand why it has to be "Police Women" but I guess a whole sale knockoff of "Cops" is just a bit too on the nose for Tlc. Because they're so known for their original programming and all.
"Project Runway" on Lifetime. Eighth season premiere.
"Rookie Blue" on ABC
Smoking Gun Presents: World's Dumbest Tourists 2" on TruTV

Whoa! I'd seen and lovingly spazzed out to the gorgeous Free Fall Like You're in 'Mad Men' promo set to Interpol's "Untitled" for HBO's Big Love that came out in November, but totally didn't expect it be the basis for an entirely new opening sequence during last night's season 4 premiere. At first, I was all "Sensory overload Nicki and a wind machine I can't process this I have to watch the show just start it stop this let's go swap meet those birds!" After a post-episode rewind, though, the opener ended up growing on me. The closeups of outstretched...

Anyone who knows anything about "Twilight" scribe Stephenie Meyer knows that the vampire-spawning writer has eclectic taste in music. Earlier this year, she blogged about what she did all summer, which included listening to bands you may or may not know like Meese and White Rabbits, as well as some you might, like Muse, Animal Collective and Silversun Pickups.
She's posted suggested playlists for fans of her book series that includes everything from Placebo, Blue October and Armor for Sleep to Elbow, Coldplay, Patrick Wolf, Simon and Garfunkel, Korn, Incubus, Nine Inch Nails and Right Said Fred.
On Monday, the track listing for the upcoming soundtrack to "New Moon" was revealed and it has the same mix of the popular and somewhat-obscure that fans...
