Derek Eastham
- Producer
- Director
- Writer
Born and raised in Washington State, Derek Eastham grew up in the small
town of Marysville. Having just reached the ripe old age of eight,
Derek discovered his path in life. Filmmaking wasn't really so much of
a choice as a calling, and he began making plans to become involved in
the Film and Video industry. In high school, he began taking video
production classes where he learned many skills from his talented and
driven instructor, Mr. Richard Walsh. While there, Derek created a name
for his vision, and that name remains Eastham Productions. Following
High School, Derek attended Western Washington University. There, he
broadened his horizons and studied subjects from psychology to art
history. While there a chance meeting with Jeffery Neir and a general
dissatisfaction with the school environment prompted him to follow his
mother's suggestion to attend the Art Institute of Seattle. Beginning
in the fall of 2002, he focused his studies on the use of Digital Video
as a medium for Film Production. As a team, Eastham and aspiring
Cinematographer Jeffery Neir worked together on a great number of
projects. In 2004 Eastham Productions wrapped production for both "The
Duel" and the yet to be released "Themes of Life, Lesson - 01 Death."
In late October of 2004 Derek got involved with "The Golden Leaf," a
local independent film for kids. He was hired as the Script Supervisor,
but was eager to help out whenever & wherever he could. Working with
Producer Jeff Madsen on "The Golden Leaf" led to another job in January
2005, Script Supervising and 2nd Assistant Directing the Dead Gentlemen
Production "The Gamers: Dorkness Rising." There is more to come in 2005
and beyond... but only time will tell just where Derek will be
next.
