Variant covers are something of a tradition in American comics--usually superhero comics. While I generally abhor the tradition for two reasons (one, the covers never represent the actual content in the books, and two, I hate that it preys on the completionist's Ocd), even I have to admit that they tend to get some quality cover designs out of it, and if this first series of covers is any indication, this will be no exception.
In celebration (and promotion) of the upcoming Batman v Superman, DC will be producing three variant covers for ten issues of comics. The first issue to get this treatment will be Detective Comics #50, with the cover being done by Rafael Grampa.
You can check out these covers below!
Below is the full list of comic issues that will be receiving the treatment:
3/2: Detective Comics #50 (variant by Rafael Grampa)

Review – Valiant’s Book of Death #1
Valiant’s Book of Death kicks off as a bit of a mixed bag.
There’s a lot I like here but what doesn’t vibe with me is hard to shake and is directly related to how amazing I just told you the Book of Death tagged Legends of the Geomancer #1 was.
Let me start with the good. I want to warn you now of spoilers from Book of Death #1, and also information they gave last month about the series’ villain.
As an original Valiant fan you are immediately fanning the proper flames of interest anytime you echo something I tend to associate with what makes Valiant great. Anytime you have a plot device that offers glimpses of the future to come you are tugging on my Rai #0 strings, a landmark comic for a previous Valiant universe and to a lesser degree an era of comics.

If there’s one thing that the Buffy the Vampire Slayer TV series did very well, it was the one-shot villains.
Week in, week out, Buffy and her gang of ‘Scoobies’ would have to battle a different menace on the journey to facing off with that respective season’s ‘big bad’ – such as The Master, Mayor Wilkins, Adam, Glory or the First Evil.
There were villainous characters who were based on those from other works of fiction and some created from scratch (from the mind of Joss Whedon, nonetheless). There were supernatural foes, humans, robots, demons… you name it, Buffy and company probably faced-off with it.
With seven seasons worth of nasties to choose from, it’s pretty difficult to pick an absolute top ten.
But, for what it’s worth, here’s my effort to do exactly that! Here are the best ten single episode villains from Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
