The most influential DJ at this weekend's Electric Daisy Carnival in New York opened the festival's mainstage early on the first day: It was the French producer Cedric Gervais, whose 2012 hit "Molly" has inspired a catch phrase emblazoned on thousands of t-shirts across the parking lot of Citi Field, the home stadium for the Mets. "Have you seen Molly?" the song goes. "She makes me want to dance." Much more than a cheeky request for Mdma via a garment purchasable from the Shore Store, it embodied the zeitgeist – not just that of the largest electronic dance music festival in America, but of the party generation. Rave culture has taken over this generation full bore, and the kids are so invested that thousands of young women hot-glued their bras with rhinestones, glowsticks and silk daisies, clearly prepping for this experience for weeks.

Atari Teenage Riot have remastered their first two studio albums and an infamous live record for release via Bandcamp. New 2012 "Loud" remasters of Delete Yourself! "Winter of 1999 : Atari Teenage Riot play Brixton Academy... if Y2K happened, it happened there on stage haha," the band said on Twitter. Eric Victorino is mad as hell. The commercial music industry is a money making machine indifferent to necessity for creative control, and The Limousines are not gonna take it anymore. Eric and his artistic partner, Gio Giusti, have turned to their fans via the crowdfunding site Kickstarter.com to raise the money needed to mix and press their next record, Hush.
The Owl Mag: Your story of leaving your record label strikes a similar note to stories of soldiers refusing to return to duty. Do you consider yourself to be a music industry conscientious objector and refusenik?
Victorino: That's a great way to look at it. Except we're soldiers who have an awful lot of fight left in us. We're down with kicking ass, we just want to do it on our terms now.

Lollipop Chainsaw is right around the corner, and we have yet another trailer for you. Artist Jimmy Urine (of Mindless Self Indulgence) and Grasshopper Manufacture Sound Director Akira Yamaoka sat down to answer a few questions about the soundtrack. Read on for all the gory details.
From the Press Release
What is the exact soundtrack to a zombie massacre? In scoring the upcoming game Lollipop Chainsaw, artist Jimmy Urine (of Mindless Self Indulgence) and Grasshopper Manufacture Sound Director Akira Yamaoka had to address these types of questions. When Juliet rips through a decaying zombie torso with her trusty chainsaw, would Sleigh Bells fit better than Sinatra? Or should it be an original composition? In this behind the scenes video, Jimmy and Akira discuss the various influences that go into scoring a game with such a strong visual and creative style and the aesthetic basis from which the soundtrack was compiled.

Lollipop Chainsaw Behind the Music Featurette
Plus, there's a new behind-the-scenes video featuring Little Jimmy Urine and Akira Yamaoka wearing a lot of black and discussing the creation of the soundtrack for the upcoming hack and slash title from Grasshopper Manufacture and Suda51.
You can find the full track listing after the jump.
What is it with 2012 and Atari Teenage Riot tracks showing up in game-related stuff? First there was the recent Ps Vita campaign using their Is This Hyperreal track "Black Flags," and now Lollipop Chainsaw is using the noise act's song "Speed" from 60 Second Wipeout. If you follow the group in any capacity, then you know precisely how off-message from their vigorously anti-corporatist stance this is. So... weird, right? Also, if I'm wondering out loud, why not use the far superior "Too Dead For Me" or "No Success?" I love "Speed" and one of the most pleasant revelations...

Coachella Music Festival released their official 2012 lineup in a tweet on Monday afternoon, and the headliners for each day are The Black Keys, Radiohead and Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg as the grand finale.
This year, the festival is experimenting with hosting the same exact lineup twice in a row over two weekends, which means that the dates for the festival are April 13-15 and April 20-22.
Fans who didn't snag a pre-sale ticket last year may be repeatedly rebuffed right now as Coachella.com is crushed under the weight of its own success. But since the festival is technically twice as long this year, we're guessing that tickets will be a bit easier to obtain than last year, when tickets sold out exactly one week after the lineup was announced.
For now, enjoy the official 2012 lineup in an easily searchable format, or scroll down for a look at the official lineup poster.

After shocking fans months ago with the news that its desert festival will span two weekends in 2012, Coachella confirmed with its lineup announcement Monday (January 9) that it is going big this year. Posted to the fest's Facebook page, the roster boasts Radiohead, The Black Keys and Dr. Dre with Snoop Dogg.
In response to last year's event selling out — a week after the 2011 lineup was announced — the festival is experimenting with featuring the same artists for two consecutive three-day weekends: April 13-15 and April 20-22.
The Black Keys, who performed last year, return to Friday night, this time getting top billing. Radiohead, Saturday's headliner, last graced Indio, California's Empire Polo Fields in 2004. This is the first booking...

We're always walking a fine line when it comes to music news here on Dread Central, but a couple of pretty cool music playlists geared toward Halloween crossed our desks this week so we thought we'd share them with you guys. Whether your tastes run more toward "Chillers" or "Thrillers", we think you'll find something you like. Read on for the details, and give them a listen.
Playlist: Halloween Chillers
From Carter Maness: Yes, I know you love a good costume. And really, what's better than going crazy, hopping from party to party, dancing and fighting for bar position? I take a different attitude. Halloween is all about darkness and getting legitimately spooky. I'll save the dancing for next week. In the meantime, here are some favorite Halloween Chillers (some spooky, all sweet) from Creep, Dawn Golden & Rosy Cross, Chairlift, The Field, and more.
Playlist: Halloween Thrillers
From Hillary Kaylor: Chillers are well and good,...

Alec Empire has suggested that there are many people in Germany who are "very backward and right wing". The Atari Teenage Riot frontman told The Quietus that he feels German society is still troubled by the history of the Second World War. Empire said: "The Germans, they lost the war. And democracy was brought to them. There's something about that, it wasn't that natural process. "The problem is that a lot of people in Germany are very backward and right wing and they just love the fact that Germany is the biggest country again in Europe, and they love that for the wrong reasons, and it is dangerous. Very often you don't see that side." Empire (more)...

"Atari Teenage Riot has put together a massive night in London," a statement on the band's website read. The road from concept to comic to DVD/Blu-ray has been a long, rocky one for the illustrated film Godkiller, mainly because demand has been so high that Halo-8 Entertainment simply hasn't been able to keep up. To make up for the postponement of the Blu-ray release to a still yet to be determined date, company President Matt Pizzolo (who also wrote and directed the film) has announced that purchasers of the standard-def DVD will be entitled to a free Godkiller Blu-ray.
From the Press Release:
"We're not trying to double-dip on the DVD and Blu-ray. The hi-def version is being delayed due to unforeseen circumstances, but we want Godkiller fans to feel confident getting the film now and knowing we'll take care of them when the Blu-ray comes out," explained Pizzolo.
"Godkiller really beat all our expectations, and that's been a good thing as well as a bad thing...

Halo-8 and Matt Pizzolo's "illustrated film" Godkiller has added eight cities to its You-Demand-It Theatrical Tour, and in addition word has come down from their VOD partner, Gravitas Ventures, that 19 of the 20 major cable VOD providers have selected the film for their summer programming, ensuring it will be available in over 75 million homes starting May 25th.
"Now that's just ridiculous," said writer-director Pizzolo. "I set out to make a movie for misfits, lunatics, and sociopaths ... based on the response, I can only say it's refreshing to see so many crazy people are in positions of influence. Our weird little mind-bomb will be invading a lot of homes this summer."
The VOD carriers supporting Godkiller include Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Cox, Charter, Verizon, Cablevision, DirecTV, Dish, Rcn, Insight, Mediacom, Bresnan, Suddenlink, Rogers, Videotron, Sasktel, Cogeco, Shaw, Telus, and more as well as digital carriers Amazon, Apple iTunes, Playstation Network, and Xbox Live.

Pitchfork has up a report that German hardcore band Atari Teenage Riot's new iPhone app has been temporarily delayed by the German iTunes store. The app is set to offer all of the band's albums, songs, and videos, in addition to a feature called "Riotsounds Produce Riots," which the band describes as "...very low sub basses, square waves, noise sounds, which trigger hysteria and panic within the audience." Atr's Alec Empire told Pitchfork that he expects the app will be approved within 10 days, with the Riotsounds feature possibly getting added on later. Whatever the status, I have to tip my hat to the band.

Recently I found myself in a small room, wearing paper pajamas, and kinda doped again. I was in yet another institution, this time for running out of my home and attacking the garbage men with a rubber pepper from Taco Bell. It’s weird, I know, but apparently the boa I was wearing matched the coloration of the pepper, so at least I know I looked good. Anyway, while I was in there I met these guys from Canada. They looked kinda weird -but it may have just been the Thorazine --and said they’re in a band. Apparently, the story goes, they got in trouble for the things coming out of their mouths and the ‘Authorities’ automatically assumed they’re crazy. When you speak out about change, about escaping from the brutal technocratic society of Governmental controlled idiocy that we labor under, people tend to look at you strangely.
