Lol alert! This Cincinnati Reds fan got his ball and Internet fame, too, during today's home game against the St. Louis Cardinals. The Reds ultimately lost, 7-6, to the visiting team, but the victory was not assured by plays like this one: Cardinals first baseman Matt Adams went chasing after a popped up ball into foul territory and over the tarp, but ended up losing it to the Reds fan in question. Video that immediately went viral shows Adams seemingly giving the guy who caught the ball a little shove—because why else would the guy then flip Adams the big fat bird?! "I was trying to stop myself from going into the stands," Adams told reporters after the game, which was delayed by...

The Blank Tapes may have cornered the market on summer jams, providing the perfect soundtrack for sunny days with Vacation, matching the tunes with refreshing visuals. But don’t count The Blank Tapes out just because the cold weather’s creeping in: Matt Adams and the band have recorded a unique Christmas tune to warm those of us who aren’t lucky enough to reside in sunny Los Angeles. “‘No Gifts This Xmas’ was written around Christmas time of last year, and recorded on a brutally hot summer day at Joe Napolitano’s East Los Angeles home studio,” said Adams. “I was stoked to...

Labrador Puppies. Good wine. A delicious burger. There are very few things that I love more than the St. Louis Cardinals. I don’t even know if I love those things more than the Cards. And it’s because I love them that I am appealing to, nay, Demanding (Ok, I’m really begging) St. Louis Cardinals manager Mike Matheny when I say – for the love of God and all things good, please, please, please bench Matt Holliday for the postseason.
I have nothing against him personally. In fact, I really like Matt Holliday. He is a stand up man of great character. An incredibly positive influence in the dugout, particularly for our young players, and one of the anchors of my beloved St. Louis Cardinals. We would not be in the postseason without him. His regular season consistency regularly puts us in the postseason. But it is at the...

The Blank Tapes are made of some far-out magic. When hanging with the trio who is two-part lovers, one-part friend, we asked ourselves a few questions. Did this trio time travel from 1965? Are we in a San Fran coffeehouse? Is Matt Adams in fact, kin to Ray Davies? We caught up with The Blank Tapes during their stay in Atlanta where they recorded two new tunes, ate a quick brunch at West Egg, took a walk around Little Five Points and headed to The Earl for an energy-packed set at midnight. Check out Kristen Blanton’s photos with the young...

Just in time for the warm weather, The Blank Tapes is set to release a new album, appropriatley titled Vacation. Matt Adams, the man behind The Blank Tapes, has been recording music for years, drawing inspiration from bands like The Beatles and The Kinks. Songwriting has come naturally to Adams, and the seemingly constant stream of new content has benefitted his work. With a few international hits and a South American tour in his past, it’s no surprise that his sunny garage-rock has continued to grow more complex. Vacation is set for release on May 14, but you can listen...

The Blank Tapes is the musical moniker of California instrumentalist Matt Adams. Adams has been making music since 2003, and unsurprisingly his summery garage rock jams have become huge hits in places like Brazil. After touring Europe with Thee Oh Sees and R. Stevie Moore, Adams is back and set to release The Blank Tapes’ new material on forthcoming LP Vacation. The album title makes sense, too, when you hear the beachy vibe of the first single, “Holy Roller.” Listen to the track in the player below, and look out for Vacation, set for release via Oakland, Calif.’s Antenna Farm...

Audiences now expect stories to be told in new ways across different platforms, but commissioners often fail to produce compelling 'transmedia' content
Storytelling has always been at the heart of the best media, be it a TV show, a documentary or a game, and there is no doubt that with the expanding choice of technology – from smart mobile phones and tablets to TV sets that have internet connections – we are seeing an ever–increasing convergence of storytelling on different platforms. But as this convergence develops, one of the key questions now confronting the media industry is this: who's in control of this explosion in creativity?
The answer might seem obvious. Surely, it's the commissioners who grant producers the chance to broadcast on their channels. Or maybe it's the producers and directors themselves with the ideas for the programmes or films that have the whip hand? Or perhaps it's the writers who ultimately have control?...
