Following the wake of Electronic Arts and Activision's departures, two more major game publishers are backing out from the show floor at this year's E3 2016. Disney Interactive and Wargaming have reportedly elected to drop their booths this year.
The loss has lead to E3 organiser Entertainment Software Association Senior Vice President of Communications Rich Taylor issuing a statement: "We have a record number of press briefings this year in the ramp to opening the show. That's an indicator that folks recognize how valuable a launch pad."
Wargaming in a statement indicated that a retail-focused event like E3 is not conducive to their digital game platform. Disney's statement indicated they'll be saving their stuff for their own events, similar to the way EA is instead opting to hold the public EA Play event. Activision's games will be shown by console manufacturers like Sony.

It feels like a long time ago that we took a trip to Elstree Studios in North West London. How the weather has changed since then! On a freezing cold day we headed to the world famous George Lucas Stage where the legendary director shot parts of Star Wars to visit the set of the new Edgar Wright movie, The World’s End. Third in the ‘Cornetto Trilogy’, both Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz were hugely successful, both at the box office and with fans, and have become cult classics in their own right. Understandably, those same fans are super excited to see this third feature and are hoping that it lives up to their expectations.
Edgar Wright was joined on the day by his two long-term collaborators Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. As we walked onto the set, we were witness to one of the only pubs...

Liv Tyler's come a long way since cavorting half-naked with Alicia Silverstone -- at the tender age of 16 -- in her dad Steven Tyler's video "Crazy." Her Aerosmith-fronting father may have given her the leg up in Hollywood, but it's her long career (and, of course, her high-profile portrayal of Elf princess Arwen in "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy) that makes her famous now, nearly two decades later.
Tyler's recent choices have been a departure from "Hobbit"-sized productions. She's appeared in two films this year: "Super," an indie co-starring Rainn Wilson and Ellen Page, and "The Ledge," a philosophical thriller (yes, you read that right) with "Sons of Anarchy" star Charlie Hunnam -- both movies with smallish budgets and the kind of subtext you won't find in many Hollywood blockbusters.

On April 22-23, Asbury Park, NJ will once again be taken over by the most toxic film festival in the world! (That’s a good thing.) The 12th annual Tromadance is two days and nights filled with depraved cinematic abuses that will leave you a shattered, emotional wreck. (That’s a good thing, too.)
This year, the fest will screen three feature films, a buttload of shorts, plus two mini-retrospectives.
The features are: 1. Drew Bolduc and Dan Nelson‘s gonzo The Taint, a social satire filled with so much gore and sexual degeneracy you might want to wear a raincoat to the screening; 2. Joshua Grannell‘s horror spoof All About Evil, starring Natasha Lyonne and Cassandra Peterson about a psychotic film auteur who kills people on camera; 3. Miguel Angel Vivas’ brutal assault film Kidnapped.
Some of the short film highlights include Victoria Cook‘s triumphant return to Tromadance with Devil...

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has started researching the possibility of including games in its universal rating system for Us media. Following an investigation from Us Congress into whether current laws are effective at protecting children from harmful content, the agency has moved to incorporate television, mobile content and games into its jurisdiction. The news was met with opposition from the Entertainment Software Association (Esa), who believes that the legislation would be counterproductive. According to Rich Taylor, senior VP for communications and industry affairs at Esa, current Esrb ratings (more)...
