The Masked Singer has revealed its latest mystery as snooker star Stephen Hendry was unveiled as Rubbish.
In Saturday’s (21 January) festival-themed episode, Rubbish performed alongside Fawn, Jacket Potato, Rhino and Pigeon.
After his performance of “Ruby” by Kaiser Chiefs, Rubbish landed in the bottom two and was ultimately sent home by the judging panel.
Guesses ranged from athletes Max Whitlock and Sir Chris Hoy to presenters Paddy McGuinness and Jay Blades.
However, no-one managed to detect that it was Stephen Hendry in the colourful costume.
One of the clues hinted at him being celebrated for his youth – fitting, as Hendry became a professional snooker player at age 16 in 1985.
In 1994, Hendry was awarded an MBE, while he and Ronnie O’Sullivan share the record for the most World Snooker Championship titles, with seven.
On taking part in the competition, Hendry explained that his primary goal was to try something out of his comfort zone.

In the beginning, there was a fist: five brown fingers, emerging from a yellow argyle sweater sleeve. Though one cannot see the owner of the fist’s face, nor even his upper body, everything you need to know about his emotional state is telegraphed by the strength of those five fingers, tightly clenched in ire, threatening to unleash the sheer animalistic force contained therein. “Animalistic” is a good word to use here, because the fist belongs not to a man, but to an aardvark: namely, Arthur Read, the bookish, eight-year-old...

London, Dec 31 (Ians) Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton has been knighted, having been included in the United Kingdom's traditional honours list. Hamilton this year equalled Michael Schumacher's record for most driver's championship wins and surpassed the German great for most career race wins in F1.
Hamilton at the age of 35 is the fourth youngest sportsperson to be knighted after former tennis world no.1 Andy Murray, who was 29 when he received the honour, and cyclists Bradley Wiggins and Chris Hoy, who were both 32 years old.
He is also the fourth F1 driver to receive the honour after Jack Brabham (1978), Stirling Moss (2000) and Jackie Stewart (2001) and the sixth from the sport with F1 team Williams co-founders Frank Williams and Patrick Head being knighted in 1999 and 2015 respectively.
Hamilton is, however, the first from the sport to receive the knighthood while still being an active F1 driver.

Micky Flanagan is the latest star to front a 'comedian and his mate go on a trip' show in Detour De France, in which he and close pal Noel Lynch cycle the route of the iconic French competition.
However, he freely admits that the show is definitely "not a travelogue", and more of a "jolly". Digital Spy had a chat with him about the new Sky1 show, and whether it has made him a changed man.
The show was basically one big holiday

There are few documentary filmmakers quite like Alex Gibney. The American picks up on current affairs, and turns over his productions in a swift yet concise fashion, studying and exploring stories that are still ongoing – such as WikiLeaks, and bringing them to the big screen. His latest endeavour is The Armstrong Lie – and we had the great pleasure of sitting down with him to discuss it.
The film chronicles the journey of cyclist Lance Armstrong, who was found to have been doping when competing in races in which he was triumphant. Having fervently denied all allegations – Gibney gets to heart of this lie, and it’s one he was a victim to himself, as this is actually the second attempt to make this documentary, following on from the first project, which had to be dramatically modified, as it was completed prior to the revelations that took place. Gibney discusses his...

Overpaid. Arrogant. Immoral.
As each season goes by, the number of negative adjectives attributed to being a footballer increases. The culture that exists within the beautiful game has come under intense scrutiny in recent years, the London 2012 Olympics giving stark contrast to the behaviour and sportsmanship that exists outside the nation’s favourite sport.
However, there are always two sides to every coin. For every Bradley Wiggins, there’s a Lance Armstrong, for every Mo Farah, there’s a Dwain Chambers and for every Michael Phelps, there’s an entire Australian swimming team.
With last weekend’s Ligue 1 spectacle between Psg and Marseille being billed as Good vs Evil, could the same be said for footballers?

The one thing that you can confidently say about Christmas is that it sticks to a very rigid routine. Straying from the path? No such hopes. Christmas sticks to a tried and tested formula, which begins right back in August when shops decide to promote their new ranges of festive stock. Just what you want in a sweltering August – to wander past a shop window and see rolls of Santa wrapping paper and cards.
The routine then steps up a gear in November, when it seems that there's no escaping the usual Christmas music, parping brass bands and squawking singers. Come December, and it's the usual maelstrom of turkeys, drunken parties and tightly packed shopping centres. Even the day itself tends to follow a very strict pattern – presents under the tree; ill-fitting clothes; Mrs Maj; too much dinner and booze; a snooze on the the sofa; smiles and good times in EastEnders.

Bradley Wiggins's hair has been voted more inspirational to British men than styles sported by the likes of Brad Pitt and Bradley Cooper. Professional hair brand Fudge revealed that Wiggins's sideburns and mod hairstyle are proving more popular than even One Direction heart throb Harry Styles's locks. John Vial, creative Director of Fudge, said: "It's no surprise that Bradley's mod cut out-styled the likes of Harry Styles and Brad Pitt. "The man of the moment's influence on the hair of the nation confirms that when a sportsman endorses something, it automatically makes it more masculine and, ultimately, desirable." The research into British men's hair inspiration and idols saw David Beckham top the poll as the ultimate hair influence. Danny Boyle's rejection of a knighthood reminds us that the principle behind the list is flawed
If 2012 confirmed one thing, it's that we the British are still suckers for a bit of pageantry. In our thousands we braved sodden jubilee garden parties or shivered in cagoules along the banks of the Thames, waving our plastic flags – even those of us who might previously have balked at the thought of being pro-monarchy.
Amid all the benign pomp and patriotism of the summer, anyone who dared to grumble about hereditary privilege and antiquated feudal power looked like a scowling killjoy at odds with the mood of the country. To object to the jubilee celebrations was like saying you hated Christmas. Then came the Olympics, with the Queen gamely doing her bit in Danny Boyle's gloriously irreverent opening ceremony, and here was more reason to celebrate Britishness. We could do pomp and we could subvert it,...

No formal training, no nerves, no problem: the tale of Humphrey Keeper who sang solo at the 2012 opening ceremony
The name of Humphrey Keeper, beyond his family and community in south-east London, may not be immediately familiar, but a sizeable chunk of the planet has heard him sing.
Before 27 July, Humphrey was just an 11-year-old boy from Forest Hill, who liked playing football and computer games and was enjoying his last summer holidays before starting senior school. But as the world's attention turned to Stratford, expectant to see how Danny Boyle would launch the London Olympics, the director chose to hush the clamorous expectancy with a moment of genuinely memorable stillness.
Bradley Wiggins signalled the start of the ceremony by clanging an enormous bell, before Humphrey rose to his feet and, unaccompanied, began to sing. "And did those feet, in ancient time, walk upon England's mountains green?"
He wasn't especially nervous,...

Britain's Duchess of Cambridge is feeling 'very well' despite her recent bout of acute morning sickness. Duchess Catherine - who is expecting her first child with husband Prince William - was in hospital for three days with hyperemesis gravidarum but on Sunday (16.12.12) she made her first public appearance since being discharged. The 30-year-old royal - who is also known as her maiden name of Kate Middleton - was at the BBC Sports Personality of the Year ceremony and when host Gary Lineker asked her how she was, she replied: 'Very well.' However, she also told Paralympic athlete Martine Wright that being onstage was 'scary', although she didn't look nervous as she presented Olympic cycling champion Bradley Wiggins with the...

Following last night’s deserved victory for Bradley Wiggins, here’s six greats that somehow never got their hands on BBC Sports Personality of the Year…
6. Phil “The Power” Taylor
Only true greats manage to dominate a sport; think Schumacher in his Ferrari, Manchester United in the Premier League, or Australia in the Ashes series of the nineties and early noughties. None of them, however, can come close to Phil “The Power” Taylor’s domination of world darts. With fifteen Pdc World Championships to his name, thirteen World Matchplay Championships, and five Player of the Year awards, it is perhaps a travesty that Taylor is yet to win the ultimate people’s accolade (although winning Fans’ Player of the Year for the last five years running is probably some consolation).

Kate Middleton looked like she was feeling much better during her first public appearance since being hospitalized for hyperemesis gravidarum, a severe form of morning sickness. She presented awards at the BBC Sports Personality of the Year, and if her pregnancy was making her feel under the weather, she showed no signs of it.
Wearing a green Alexander McQueen dress, Middleton looked stunning. It seems as though bed rest has done her well, and it's reported that Middleton's appearance at the show wasn't decided until the last minute. She presented the Lifetime Achievement awards with David Beckham to athletes like Lord Seb Coe, Jessica Ennis and Bradley Wiggins.
If you had hoped Middleton would use the public podium to speak out about the death of receptionist Jacintha Saldanha, you're out of luck. Middleton didn't publicly speak during the show, though she did talk to the awards recipients. This appearance comes...

The BBC's Sports Personality of the Year programme achieved a gigantic peak audience of 14.5 million - a 57.5% share - last night (December 16). Celebrating a historic year for British sport, the annual awards ceremony averaged 10.57m (39.6%) between 7.30pm and 10.30pm, reaching a high in the last five minutes as Bradley Wiggins was named winner. Despite the impact of the 2012 Olympics, the figure is unexpected as last year's ceremony averaged only 4.2m. Strictly Come Dancing, which preceded Sports Personality of the Year, attracted 10.73m (42.5%) for Lisa Riley's departure and topped the night. BBC One beat ITV in every primetime slot, with Countryfile (6.16m/28.1%) and the late BBC News (8.99m/43.7%) also performing well.
