Scissor Sisters command their fans to "Dive, turn, work," on "Let's Have a Kiki," a standout track from their latest album, "Magic Hour," which brought them to the Hollywood Palladium on Saturday night. During their non-stop a**-shaking show, the band dove into the deep end, turned out a stellar set and worked the crowd into a dancing frenzy -- exactly as a Sisters show should be.
The Sisters (Jake Shears, Ana Matronic, Babydaddy, Del Marquis and Randy Real) treated fans to a slew of songs spanning their four major studio albums, and according to Ana, the NYC-based band had ...

Scissor Sisters don’t make beer but if they did it would be the most hallucination-inducingly camp beer in world. Warning: may cause drinker to see candy coloured rabbits and dancing nuns…
Ah the shy, demure, wallflower world of the Scissor Sisters. If you were to compare them to a member of your family they would be your retiring Grandparents wouldn’t they? I can see them sat in their tourbus knitting little knick-knacks for the younger members of the family, sipping tea from Royal Daulton cup and saucer sets passed down from their own grandmothers, occasionally glancing through the blinds and sighing at what the world used to be like. Jake Shears complete with cane and bifocals would complain to Granny Ana Matronic about the new host on Cash in the Attic whilst she turns her hearing aid down and fetches some malt loaf from the cupboard. Of course,...

Morning Meme: Mark Wahlberg's Underwear Walk, John Travolta Sued, and Going Gay For Pay On "Gigolos"
Mondays suck. So that's why we're grateful that Mark Wahlberg chose to parade around on his hotel balcony in just a pair of black briefs to liven up the day.
Marc Jacobs has designed shirts for his kids line for children with two mommies or two daddies. "If dad says no ask dad" is the perfect gift for the modern family.
In honor of Mother's Day, Vanity Fair's Brett Berk tries to convince us that some minivans are cool. He didn't succeed with me, but nice try.
No, Fox News, the dinosaurs did not fart themselves to extinction.
Not only did NBC pick up Ryan Murphy's The New Normal, they also picked up the Jj Abrams thriller Revolution about survival in a world where all forms of energy have ceased to exist, and the Anne Heche Save Me, in which she thinks God is speaking through her. Late last...

Big news! Gavin Creel will be headlining the national tour of The Book of Mormon as Elder Price. The tour kicks off August 14th in Denver and will hit 15 cities during the run. A second tour is planned beginning December 12th.
The latest polls in North Carolina show Amendment 1 passing easily, banning both marriage equality and civil unions. The troubling thing is that a significant portion of the population doesn't even know what the amendment does. Some think it actually legalizes marriage equality, and some think it brings about civil unions.
Not helping of course is the National Organization for Marriage, who actually budgeted " $120,000 for a project to locate children of gay households willing to denounce their parents on camera." I'll be sharing oxygen with Maggie Gallagher next week for the second time in two years, and I'm not looking forward to it.
I don't even know what to say about AOL's new Mandatory.

So summer is just around the corner and the concert season is heating up! Within just these past three weeks since our latest New Music Mix, I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to catch Yelle otherwise known as the French equation to Robyn, British musical prodigy James Blake with Active Child, and Swedish indie singer Lykke Li live in concert. All were equally awesome in their own right.
I have not had quite as much fun at a show (probably since first seeing Robyn in concert) as I did when I saw Yelle. Going into Yelle’s show I was only familiar with a few of her songs. The Tepr remix of “A Cause des Garcons” was posted on Perezhilton.com a few years ago and I knew that this gal had something special, especially after the video went so viral.

Around here, I’ve found if you want to grab people’s attention, open with a bit about Gale Harold. The bad boy of Queer As Folk has been cast in The CW pilot The Secret Circle. He’s a heterosexual love interest, and we don’t know if the pilot includes a gay character at all, but Kevin Williamson is running the show, so there’s always hope. And I’ll be happy just watching Harold onscreen next to Thomas Dekker.
That same casting article notes that Daneel Ackles (formerly Harris) has been cast as one of the lesbians in I Hate That I Love You. I find it hard to imagine that a show centered around introducing a lesbian couple could be devoid of gay men, so I nominate Daneel’s real life husband Jensen Ackles to play the hot gay friend.

The Scissor Sisters have claimed that the recession is putting the future of live music in jeopardy. Financial difficulties have forced the group to abandon a number of planned European festival dates this year. "People are cancelling tours all over the place. It’s a very expensive thing to get even a well-known band on the road," frontman Jake Shears told the Daily Star. Guitarist Del Marquis added: "We were supposed to be really busy this summer but festivals keep going under. "Hultsfred in Sweden just went bankrupt, as did Norway’s Kristiansand. (more)...

Kylie Minogue joined Scissor Sisters on stage at Glastonbury on Saturday night, June 26. The pop superstar makes her first ever appearance at the renowned music festival in Somerset, England on Friday, June 25, as she skipped onto the coveted Pyramid stage and joined the band, consisting of Jake Shears, Ana Matronic, Babydaddy, Del Marquis and Randy Real, with a rendition of "Any Which Way", from the band's new album "Night Work".
Tens of thousands of festival goers watched on in delight as the 42-year-old star ran onto the stage wearing a sexy, black lace leotard and mirrored thigh-high boots. The blond beauty was forced to pull out of her headline stage stint at the festival in 2005 when she was diagnosed with breast cancer, but her recent work with singer Jake, who helped her with a track on her new LP, meant she finally made her Glastonbury debut.

Scissor Sisters star Del Marquis has defended the band's controversial new record sleeve art, insisting it is a "really classic-looking album cover". The group's latest disc, "Night Work", has sparked controversy after the cover shot was revealed as a provocative close-up of a man's clenched bottom - but guitarist Del Marquis is proud of the artwork.
He tells Digital Spy, "I knew that it would invoke different responses from different people. We're a love/hate band - people seem to either vehemently despise us or love us with all their hearts. The way someone reacts to it will tell you a lot about that person."
"People could view it with reactionary homophobia, or they could view it as camp, or high art, or something beautiful. It reminds me of the back of (The Rolling Stones album) Sticky Fingers actually - it's a really classic-looking album cover."

Scissor Sisters guitarist Del Marquis has defended the band's suggestive new LP cover, branding it "really classic-looking". The artwork for the band's upcoming Night Work album features a provocative close-up of a clenched man's bottom - belonging to Broadway dancer Peter Reed and snapped by late American photographer Robert Mapplethorpe in 1980. "I knew that it would invoke different responses from different people," Marquis told Digital Spy. "We're a love/hate band - people seem to either vehemently despise us or love us with all their hearts - and I see that cover provoking a similar response. Scissor Sisters star Del Marquis has admitted that he started a solo project to make himself heard. The lead guitarist revealed that the 'Take Your Mama' band has too many "big personalities" to allow for everyone to have their own creative input. "It's a tough act to be in the Scissor Sisters," he told Attitude. "It's just that there are so many big personalities in the band, and I had a burning desire to do something that only spoke of me and my interest. "It's not (more)...
