Robert Pattinson teaming up with Dave “Deprave” Cronenberg is admittedly odd, but quite exciting. Unlike a vast majority of bloggers and critics I think Pattinson, his popularity and the Twilight Saga aren’t the devil and portent to the end of the known world.

Well here’s the first crazy news story of 2011. Colin Farrell has been replaced by none other than Robert ‘Sparkly Vampire’ Pattinson a.k.a. R. Pattz in David Cronenberg’s adaptation of Tom DeLillo’s Cosmopolis. Yes, folks, you read that correctly. I’m not making it up. Honestly!
According to the Playlist Pattinson’s clout and high brow taste has got the film green lit. He is arguably more bankable than Farrell, but surely he’s punching above his weight?
Pattinson doesn’t bug me as much as some other critics, audiences and bloggers, and I found his James Dean shtick in Remember Me not completely terrible, and he’s clearly wanting to carve out a proper career away from the Twilight flicks, too.
