[Editor’s Note: The following review contains spoilers for “Barry” Season 4, Episode 7, “A Nice Meal.”]
For all the shows that “Barry” shares DNA with — crime dramas, black comedies, metaphysical treatises on morality — as the end nears, it’s easiest to see “Barry” as basically a more dangerous version of “The Other Two.” Hollywood satire, over-confident narcissists plummeting to depths of their own digging, relationships shredded in a heartbeat. Add a few extra corpses to the Dubek family’s peaks and valleys and you get something roughly approximating where “Barry” finds itself now: desperation, death, and jokes.
Writer Liz Sarnoff has long been helping “Barry” deliver some hard truths and difficult fates in second-to-last episodes of seasons (much like George Pelecanos did for “The Wire”). Here, she returns for “A Nice Meal,” a fourth and final Episode 7 to put a bow on these time jump transformations — not to show that all these characters are necessarily right back where they started, but that each of them has...

Shine International has taken on international distribution for ITV’s Code Of A Killer and Channel 5’s Rome: The World’s First Superpower. The former, produced by World Productions, tells the true story of Alec Jeffreys’ discovery of DNA fingerprinting in the 1980s and its first use by detective David Baker (played by David Threlfall) in solving a double murder only three miles from Jeffreys’ lab. James Strong (Broadchurch/Gracepoint) is set to direct the two-part drama, which shoots in September. Rome: The World’s First Superpower is co-produced by 360Production and GroupM Entertainment. It looks at the major heroes and villains from Hannibal and Julius Caesar to Spartacus and Cleopatra and tells the story of how one small city among many conquered the world and then ran it for nearly 1,000 years. CBS Studios International and France’s M6 are extending their multi-year volume agreement to bring shows from the CBS network to French audiences.

One person missing from Monday’s How I Met Your Mother finale? Robin Sparkles.
Many fans were hoping for an encore performance from Robin’s Canadian pop star, but it wasn’t meant to be. But — as How I Met Your Mother prop guru David Baker showed on Twitter — a musical moment was shot: Wearing a jean jacket over her wedding dress, Robin channeled Ms. Sparkles and broke out her first hit, “Let’s Go to The Mall,” at her wedding reception, complete with The Mother on bass. (Pause for a moment and ponder the cuteness — and the inevitable heartbreak.

If, like me, you were pretty unhappy with Monday's series finale of "How I Met Your Mother," the revelation that several key scenes were cut -- including one featuring Robin Sparkles -- might make you even more upset.
The news was shared by cast and crew members on Twitter and in interviews this week. Alyson Hannigan, who played Lily, tweeted that the episode was originally 18 minutes longer, and needed to be cut down considerably to fit into into allotted one-hour airtime.
But could those scenes have made a difference in the controversial ending, which featured the mother's (Cristin Milioti) offscreen death and Ted's (Josh Radnor) seemingly immediate race to reunite with Robin (Cobie Smulders)? Yes and no.
Some of the moments, shared by Hannigan and in behind-the-scenes photos by Himym prop master David Baker, included callbacks to running gags including the pineapple, Lily and Marshall's bet over whether or not Ted ends up with Robin,...

Now that we've finally learned how Ted Mosby met his babies' mama, How I Met Your Mother prop master Dave Baker has been sharing some choice behind-the-scenes moments from the show, including a wedding performance by Robin Sparkles featuring the future Ms. Tracy Mosby on bass that was cut from the finale. They probably had to drop that particular scene because it would have made everybody love the mom way too much. What could have been, huh?...

Everyone here should be well aware by now of what tonight's big television news is, but since I've got some space to fill; tonight is the night Conan O'Brien's show returns to television. While it is true that he's returning to TBS (home of Tyler Perry's "Meet the Browns" and the George Lopez show) I know there are plenty of people out there who are just happy enough to have him back on television. Of course, now begins the struggle over deciding if one should watch Conan or "The Daily Show" and "The Colbert Report" and I'm sure that will lead to much strife, wailing, gnashing of teeth and whatnot. I can't offer any direction in what decision you should make other than listing the guests on the programs in question but rest assured that I will judge all of you for your decision. Harshly. Here's your Monday...

The men left all the color to the ladies on the red carpet at the Emmys last night, keeping it tame in their dapper suits and tuxes. True to form, the Entourage boys walked and posed together, while Jeremy Piven and John Krasinski held their own with their hands in their pockets. Diddy hammed it up as usual, and Patrick Dempsey, Jon Hamm, and Neil Patrick Harris added just a little more dreaminess to the equation. Mark Wahlberg took a break from his newborn baby boy to hit the red carpet. While most of them played it safe this time around, bonus points all around to the guys for successfully putting their handsome selves together. To see tons (we're talking hundreds) more photos including Jon Hamm, Christian Slater, David Boreanaz and so many others just read more. Mark Wahlberg Michael C.
