TORONTO -- Canadian cover artist Michael Buble dominated the Junos, Canada's music awards, grabbing four trophies Sunday. The Vancouver crooner earned Junos for best singer, album, artist and pop album of the year for It's Time, a collection of vintage love songs produced by David Foster. Buble's main competition included Canadian Idol alumni Theresa Sokyrka, Kalan Porter and Rex Goudie, all of whom came away from the Canadian kudosfest empty-handed.
OTTAWA -- Canadian punk rockers Billy Talent lead this year's MuchMusic Video Awards with nine nominations announced Thursday, including for people's choice of favorite Canadian group, and best video and best director for both "River Below" and "Nothing to Lose". Rapper k-os follows with eight nods for the16th annual music video awards that will be broadcast live from broadcaster CHUM Ltd.'s MuchMusic headquarters in Toronto on June 19. K-os is also up for favorite Canadian artist, along with best video and best director for both "Crabbuckit" and "Man I Used to Be". Vancouver-based Jakalope got four nominations, while power pop band Simple Plan, pop sensation Shawn Desman, two-man band Death From Above 1979, hardcore band Alexisonfire, Canadian Idol winner Kalan Porter and punk trio Green Day have each picked up three nominations.
