Actor and filmmaker Pat Healy seems to pop up everywhere, but a corporate office ceiling is a new surprise — even for him. Hot off a bit reporter part in Steven Spielberg’s “The Post,” Healy lends his oddball comedic talents to “Man in Ceiling,” a short film that turns office mundanity into the loopy stuff of surreal comedy. Healy stars as a disgruntled office worker shirking his responsibilities by hiding in the ceiling above his desk.
It’s the kind of role Healy excels in; that ubiquitous face practically screams disheveled corporate renegade. A filmmaker in his own right, Healy recently brought his madcap sensibilities to “Take Me,” which he directed and starred in opposite Taylor Schilling (“Orange is the New Black”).

Project Name: 5 Doctors
Asking For: $15,000 on Kickstarter
Amount Raised Thus Far (At Time Of Post): $3,564
Days Remaining In Campaign (At Time Of Post): 26
Description: For a young person living in the big city, a return trip to a hometown is a chance to see friends and catch up on their lives. Or, if you're Spencer (Max Azulay), it's an opportunity to avoid all those people and go visit your favorite childhood doctors instead. That line describes the basic plot of 5 Doctors, which is looking to finish its post-production by raising some funds on Kickstarter.
As we can see in a trailer, the 5 Doctors referred to in the film's title represent one of Spencer's comforts; they are akin to five home-cooked meals. As he visits them, he will have a number of reflective experiences, aided by his friend Jay (Matt Porter), who chauffeurs him from one appointment to the next.

Since its launch in November 2014, IFC’s Comedy Crib has served as a home for high-quality web series, some of which have caught our attention. Now, Comedy Crib has announced the shows that will make up its fall slate, and it has assembled a strong lineup. Leading off is Suburban Sons, a series produced by Above Average that stars Lamorne Morris of New Girl fame.
In Suburban Sons, Morris plays one of four dads who together make up a gang of suburban gangsters. However, instead of running a dangerous criminal syndicate, the Suburban Sons spend their time making sure local lawns are well-maintained. In the premiere episode, this process involves torturing a resistant neighbor by over-cooking hamburgers and sharing Breaking Bad spoilers.

To meet that goal, he takes a menial data entry job, and one night, while he is the alone in the office, he hears the voice of his predecessor, who lives in the ceiling. Since its launch almost two years ago in 2013, Comedy Central Studios (Cc:Studios) has released several well-received web series and digital projects which complement its parent company’s TV channel as well as its popular YouTube presence.
This year, the production house has yet another impressive lineup of programming. Cc:Studios will renew two popular web series, debut a new show, develop five upcoming projects, and see two successful series move to Comedy Central’s linear channel.
Returning Cc:Studios content includes Six Guys One Car from the comedians over at the Dormtainment YouTube channel (which boasts over 800,000 subscribers). The post-apocalyptic comedy series New Timers, starring Matt Porter and Charlie Hankin (of Good Cop Great Cop) as two Brooklyn-based survivors, is also set for a second season.

Comedy Central is taking multiplatform incubation quite seriously.
The cable channel’s in-house Cc:Studios has renewed two returning series and greenlit five new ones in development, the company said on Thursday.
Additionally, the online division released “Roustabout” on Wednesday, a comedic travelogue that follows Kurt Braunohler as he jet skis from Chicago to New Orleans to raise money for charity.

One week after it launched a web series based around the six members of Dormtainment, Comedy Central's digital wing has launched another effort based around an online sketch channel. Matt Porter and Charlie Hankin of Good Cop Great Cop are the stars of New Timers, a Cc:Studios web series about two guys living in a post-apocalyptic society. As the first episode of New Timers begins, we learn it has been since 281 days since "The Event," an apocalyptic calamity that caused society to break down. Among the chaos, Porter and Hankin (playing fictionalized versions of themselves) deal with missing Monopoly pieces, a dwindling spice rack, and other minor annoyances. Porter and Hankin previously caught our attention thanks to Good Cop Great Cop, a channel filled with short, offbeat sketches. In New Timers, Porter and Hankin are basically playing the same characters they play on their channel; the curly-haired Porter serves...

Weighing in at 1.1 gigabyte in size, Sony has launched the second mandatory patch for Killzone: Mercenary on the PlayStation Vita. Aimed to remedy the long-gestating connectivity issues and frustrating respawn locations, the file is available to download on the PlayStation Store right now. In announcing the update, Matt Porter, Guerrilla Cambridge’s technical director, also addressed the game’s substantial file size.
Here’s what Porter had to say over on PlayStation Blog:
“We’re currently investigating solutions to reduce the overall size of the title and free up more of your valuable memory card space. We hope to be able to share more news on that work very soon. However, it seems unlikely to us that the overall size of the downloaded game, plus the patch, will ever be under 4Gb.”
Ultimately, it seems the file size for Killzone: Mercenary is vast by default. Given that the game also...

Last week's Indie Spotlight featured Smoke Break, which plans to run for over one hundred short episodes. In terms of longevity, this week's star is no slouch itself. Matt Porter and Charlie Hankin are the creative duo behind Good Cop, Great Cop, a long-running sketch series composed of short installments. Porter and Hankin first debuted Good Cop, Great Cop in 2011; since then, they have released 61 episodes. Each one contains a short slice-of-life vignette starring the two creators, and while episodes are grounded in reality, Porter and Hankin aren't afraid to get absurd. There are many, many Good Cop, Great Cop episodes available; they're not universally funny, but the series' creators aren't shy about sharing their work. "When it comes to anything as quirky and weird as doing any sort of comedy or any sort of web sketch kind of thing you have to put it on the internet and move...

Former AdNews editor Danielle Long has joined ad agency Bmf.
Long, who has been a freelance PR for a number of media and marketing firms since leaving AdNews in May last year, joins the agency as brand and content manager.
She is among a small number of journalists to join an agency for a job other than in PR. Another was former B&T managing editor Kevin Johns, who worked at McCann as head of content until the merger with Smart last year.
Long was editor of AdNews for just over a year, having taken on the editorship from Matt Porter in April 2010, now PR manager at M&C Saatchi.
Her career also includes stints Campaign, Revolution and New Media Age in the UK, and a short stint as editor of Branded Arts Review.

Second episode into the season and the angsty high of the premier has worn off. It's back to work, as usual, but with a change or two. Only time will tell if these changes help or hurt the show. There's a paddleboard race from Molokai to O'ahu taking place, and 15 yr old Jen Hassley (Hayley Chase) is in the lead. She wins, unsurprisingly, gets hugs and kisses from the parentals, then disappears. Mom sees her being spirited away from the grounds in a red car. Meanwhile, downtown, Steve (Alex O'loughlin) has been called to the principal's office. Again. He bides his time reading "Women's Day" magazine – perhaps Smooth Dog is taking notes – when he realizes this meeting won't be just him and the new Gov. Leggy and lovely Homeland Security agent Lori Weston (Lauren German) catches his eye, literally (thanks for that anvil, show) and they make googoo eyes at...

Officer Lori Weston Helps Hawaii Five-0 Shape Up
After a paddleboard competition, young champion Jen Hassley (Hayley Chase) is kidnapped. McGarrett must work the case with Officer Lori Weston (Lauren German), newly added to the Five-0 task force by Governor Denning (Richard T. Jones). Meanwhile, the still-suspended Kono meets the head of Hpd Internal Affairs (Tom Sizemore).
In last week’s review, I mentioned my hope that Gov. Denning’s crackdown on Five-0 would lead to tighter plotting. This week’s episode, “Ua Lawe Wale,” was noticeably tighter. For one thing, Officer Weston is the first member of Five-0 whose police skill set is spelled out from the beginning. Having served six years with Homeland Security and begun her career with the FBI, her background was just right to assist with the kidnapping case, and she applied her training realistically.
In addition to more discernible procedure, this episode’s plot...
