The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is back on Oct. 25 with a brand new season. However, there will be a couple of missing faces this time. Two of last season’s housewives won’t be returning. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills stars Lisa Rinna, who joined as a main cast member in season 5, and Diana Jenkins, who became a housewife in season 12, have stepped away from the show.
Why did Lisa Rinna leave ‘The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’
Rinna spent eight seasons on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. While season 12 was not kind to the former soap opera star, fans of the reality series were still shocked that she opted to walk away from the show entirely. Recently, she shared some insight into what exactly factored into her decision.

In the article series Sound and Vision we take a look at music videos from notable directors. This week we look at Asher Monroe's Hush Hush, directed by Danis Tanović. One thing I'm setting out to do with this series is that I try to show the reader that music videos are an artform that often connects deeply with the 'main oeuvre' of a particular director. I try to find the common ground between the directors films, and the bite sized music driven snippet they directed. Often it is not hard to see the connection between the music videos and the films of a director, but sometimes.... it is. Case in point, the Sound and Vision of this week, which was directed by Danis Tanović....

Shooting a seductive video for the "Sleep with neuro" drink campaign, Neil Patrick Harris delivered a spellbinding performance alongside rapper Problem and singer Asher Monroe.

Continuing, and wearing a revealing robe, the 40-year-old crooner sang, "Because nothing soothes me the same way. At the end of a long, hard day/I wanna...sleep! Just wanna sleep. Oh, come on, don't make me lie awake here all night long/Sleep you're all I want because you know how to keep me going strong."

Near the end of last night’s Parenthood, Adam (Peter Krause) asked Amazing Andy (guest star Michael Emerson), a man with Asperger’s who entertains at children’s parties with his bug collection, if he was happy. “Yeah, sometimes,” Amazing Andy said. Then he asked Adam the same question. “Yeah, sometimes,” Adam answered. That’s really the best response any of us can hope for — at least at some points in our lives — and it’s that honesty that we appreciate about this show. But does the realism ever get to be too much?

Gleeks are looking forward to seeing Kurt (Chris Colfer) couple up in season 2. Many assumed the new singing jock played by Chord Overstreet (Sam) would be revealed to be his new boyfriend. That was until a casting call went out late last week for the recurring role of a cute, charismatic, Gay high school junior who fronts a competing glee club. If this young gentleman — you’re welcome to imagine a young Tom Ford — is Kurt’s catch, which 18 or over actor would you like to see land the part? My suggestions:

On the Top 11's first competitive show -- and "So You Think You Can Dance's" first ever live performance show -- Wednesday (June 16) night, penultimate dancer Ashley Galvan brought the show to a stop with a surprisingly sweet and sincere admission.
Kicking off the critique of her contemporary number with Season 3 All-Star partner Neil Haskell, judge Nigel Lythgoe asked 19-year-old Galvan "Have you ever been in love before?" and she responded with an emotional and halting, "As a matter of fact, I think I am."
Awwww.
After the show, Galvan revealed the identity of her love: boyfriend of little over a year, 21-year-old ballroom dancer Jared Murillo.
If that name rings a bell, then chances are you're a "High School Musical" -- or boy band V Factory -- fan, as he's appeared in all three "HSM" movies. He also famously dated another Ashley, Ashley Tisdale, for two years.

This year's remake of "Fame," the 1980's hit film which followed a group of New York Performing Arts students, is getting ready to live forever on Blu-ray and DVD. But the movie is also getting an "Extended Dance Edition."
The "Extended Dance Edition" works in more dance footage and sequences into the film, although the new running time hasn't been revealed. The theatrical version will also be included in the disc.
"Fame," which starred Kay Panabaker, Megan Mullally, and "V Factory" singer Asher Book, was a reinvention of the, no pun intended, famed 1980 Alan Parker film which spawned a hit TV series. The remake also featured Bebe Neuwirth, Debbie Allen, and Kelsey Grammer.
Deleted scenes and a digital copy will also be included. "Fame: Extended Dance Edition" hits Blu-ray and DVD on January 12th, 2010.

The players: Director: Kevin Tancharoen, Writer: Allison Burnett, Cast: Kherington Payne, Anna Maria Perez de Tagle, Paul McGill, Asher Book, Kristy Flores
Facts of interest: Remake of the 1980 "Fame."
The plot: A bunch of youngsters try to survive four years at the prestigious New York City High School of Performing Arts.
Our thoughts: Sure, I’ll remember the name of this disappointing remake, but that’s about it already. I can’t say I’m surprised Kevin Tancharoen’s new version of the 1980 musical lacks energy and heart, and as forgettable as this film is, I also admit I didn’t find this big-screen experience to be as boring as I expected.

Yesterday, I hopped to my local movie theater, purchased a ticket for the Fame reboot, and began preparing myself for the exciting performances that would soon appear on-screen. After all, these musical numbers would come courtesy of an awesomely talented, young, breakout cast, right? Well...kinda. Though the cast might have been hindered by their own material -- the film paled in comparison to the gritty 1980 version, thanks to a clear effort to make the film more accessible to the High School Musical set -- I left the theater only remembering two names: Naturi Naughton and Collins Pennie. Before it became a veritable cottage industry – having spawned a six season TV series, an Off-Broadway production, multiple imitators and the current big screen remake – Fame meant one thing only: the 1980 Alan Parker film. And that’s as it should be, as Parker imbued his depiction of the struggles of students trying to make it at Manhattan’s grueling School of Performing Arts with an inimitable combination of poignant nostalgia and hard edged realism. In the current reworking, first time filmmaker Kevin Tancharoen goes, as the famous ballad sung by Irene Cara in the original says, “Out here on my own.” Let it never be said that he attempted to duplicate Parker’s work. Instead, he and screenwriter Allison Burnett reduce Christopher Gore’s original screenplay to shambles, turning it into a heavily stylized over-produced mess. This is not, in any sense, an accurate depiction of life at an arts school. It...

However, when two surrogates are destroyed - and their operators are killed in the process - the police open the first homicide investigation in years. It's up to Bruce Willis - and his full head of surrogate hair - to track down the killer and uncover the mystery of why the murders took place. What I liked: I've always liked these sort of off-season science fiction action movies. While they wouldn't survive in a tentpole summer release, Surrogates is like Demolition Man, Virtuosity, Paycheck and this spring's Next. They're fun action flicks, and they can also be thought-provoking. Surrogates is based on a graphic novel, and...

The stars of new musical Fame have shrugged off suggestions that they have to live up to the original 1980 movie or 1982 TV spinoff. Asher Book plays Marco Ramone in the upcoming film, while Naturi Naughton stars as Denise Dupree and Kherington Payne is Alice Barton. Naughton told BBC Newsbeat: "It was a little bit before our time so I didn't watch it when I was younger. I knew of it and I knew of the series, and of course Debbie Allen and Irene Cara." Book added: (more)...

The latest take on Fame, an edgy ’80s construction built on perseverance through real-life hardships, has become filled with pleasant platitudes such as reaching for celestial bodies, overcoming mountains, never giving up hope and other slogans usually seen on office posters. It’s a frigid and empty drama built on teen clichés and faux-grit while set against a thumping urban beat.
Much like the 1980 original from Alan Parker, Kevin Tancharoen’s updated version strips away emotion and substance only to cram the film with sappy melodrama and see-thru grit. Besides the movie’s PG-rated slant (the original was rated-r) which is skewed towards the Disney/High School Musical crowd, the dismal writing from Allison Burnett and shoddy performances, sans Megan Mullally, Charles S. Dutton and Kelsey Grammer, bring the film down to a level of boredom not felt since the creation of the Venetian Waltz.

Fame
Directed by: Kevin Tancharoen
Cast: Naturi Naughton, Charles S. Dutton, Kay Pennebaker, Asher Book
Running Time: 1 hr 40 mins
Rating: PG
Release Date: September 25, 2009
Plot: At an art school in New York City, high schoolers use their talent to aim towards stardom.
Who’S It For? Members of the teen demographic, and even a bare interest in the arts beforehand helps.
Expectations: Hopefully something has matured since the age of High School Musical. Having not seen the original Fame, I could only make such comparisons.
Scorecard (0-10)
Actors:
Naturi Naughton as Denise: She’s the hero of the movie, and her performance is a sort of audition for things far beyond this little flick. The ex-member of 3Lw is given her own scene to show off the pipes (of which I could not shake off thoughts of Whitney Houston) and she is also the lead singer of the film’s title track.

Two days prior to the theatrical release of "Fame", the city of angels played host to a Los Angeles premiere for the musical drama. Black dominated the special screening event that took place at Pacific Theatres at The Grove as the usual red carpet was replaced with a black one to welcome the celebrities attending.
Some of the stars of the remake film opted to dress up for the premiere, while some others chose to go with a casual look. Naturi Naughton wore a shiny purple mermaid gown, Asher Book suited up in a slate gray suit completed with white sneakers, and Kay Panabaker was dressed in a Ports 1961 flowing, knee-length red and purple dress with beaded neckline. Collins Pennie, on the other hand, styled himself in black with a green jacket as a top off.

Truth be told, Naturi Naughton will be one of the few breakout stars from the "Fame" reboot. She plays Denise, a classical pianist with a dream. Alongside her is Asher Book as Marco, a singer/actor wannabe.

In our interview, Naturi and Asher talked about:
*** Their involvement with the film
*** Their characters
*** Irene Cara and Debbie Allen

If you're a struggling actor, you might not be pleased with the luck Asher Book has had, and he knows it. At age six, he auditioned almost as a lark for Broadway's Beauty and the Beast and landed the role, and when he debated whether to bring a life of performing to a close in college, he was plucked from his studies to lead the boy band VFactory. It's at that point that Book decided to cut back on his acting auditions to focus on music; naturally, he got his first feature film lead in Fame within the year.
It may all sound a little too easy, and as Book told Movieline, it was -- until now.
