Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene has not given up her quest to oust House Speaker Mike Johnson, demanding he either “resign” or “be vacated” after ushering through legislation to send military aid to Ukraine on Saturday.
“Mike Johnson’s speakership is over. He needs to do the right thing to resign and allow us to move forward in a controlled process. If he doesn’t do so, he will be vacated,” Greene told Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo on Sunday.

Rajesh Khanna Once Confessed How He Was Jealous Of Amitabh Bachchan. (Photo Credit – IMDb)
It was just one film in the year 1971 that sealed the fate of two superstars of this country. A film that starred two superstars and a film that marked the start of the decline of one’s stardom and the rise of the other’s stardom. The film was Anand and the stars were Rajesh Khanna & Amitabh Bachchan!
When Amitabh Bachchan was climbing the ladder of success, he signed Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s Anand. During the making of the film, many people warned the Aradhna superstar to be very alert to the man who was about to turn into an angry young man.
Rajesh Khanna did not pay heed to anyone’s warnings, but later, Anand saw the rise and rise of Amitabh Bachchan despite playing a quiet doctor and Khanna receiving much love for his role as a dying cancer patient.

Every 90s kids remember Mukesh Khanna as Shaktimaan, the Indian superhero who would take a spin and save the day. Many of us have grown up watching him fight the bad guys and teach us valuable lessons. Before Marvel superheroes, we all wanted to be like him. The character is precious not only to many young Indians but also to Khanna.
Often, Mukesh Khanna expressed his views openly when it comes to Shaktimaan. He loves the superhero dearly and has talked about making a lot of effort to make the series happen. However, the actor also didn’t shy away from expressing his views against Shah Rukh Khan’s Ra One movie character G One. He also once said that Srk’s film and Hrithik Roshan’s Krrish could never match up to Shaktimaan.

Amid the U.S. House passing a bill this week that would ban TikTok, Bill Maher wasted no time Friday sharing his thoughts on the controversial matter.
To kick off the latest episode of HBO’s Real Time, the host joked during his monologue, “China, you know what, you can manufacture everything else that we use, but keeping our kids stupid, that’s our job.”
The bill, which passed by a vote of 352-65 in the House, would lead to a nationwide ban of the popular video app if its China-based owner, ByteDance, doesn’t sell it. Lawmakers have expressed concerns that the company’s current ownership structure is a national security threat. President Joe Biden has said if Congress passes the measure, he will sign it, however, the bill has to pass the Senate first.
Later on Real Time, during his discussion with Republican Rep. Nancy Mace and Democratic Rep.

Bollywood actor Sanjay Kapoor’s daughter Shanaya turned showstopper for ace fashion designer Anamika Khanna’s Ak-ok Spring Summer ’24 collection at the Lakme Fashion Week x Fdci.
Sharing about walking the ramp for Khanna, Shanaya told reporters: “It feels very special. When I got styled for the first time in my life it was an Anamika Khanna outfit and I started with these combat boots, and I felt so myself. So, finally walking for her for the Ak-ok collection means a lot.”
“The embroidery is inspired by the biker vibe. The hair and make-up have been kept super grungy and carefree. Had a good time,” Shanaya added.
Khanna’s collection, which brought the curtains down on day 3, was in association with Ajio Luxe.
The designer took her inspiration from the intrepid spirit of a nomadic biker from Orissa’s Bonda Tribe. With Bonda colours, motifs and embroideries playing a stunning factor in the collection.

“The Queen of My Dreams” has been on its way to the big screen for more than ten years. Though not originally planned as a feature, writer and director Fawzia Mirza originally saw the story through life as both a short film and a stage play, based on her own experiences as a queer Pakistani-Canadian woman. The title is a literal translation of “Meri Sapno Ki Rani,” the wildly popular Hindi song from 1969’s “Aradhana.”
The film opens with narration from Azra (Amrit Kaur), Mirza’s self-insert, who has a complicated relationship with mother Mariam (Nimra Bucha) — but the two share an uncomplicated, undying love for the movie “Aradhana” starring Sharmila Tagore and Rajesh Khanna. When Azra’s father Hassan (Hamza Haq) suffers a fatal heart attack, Azra must join the family in Pakistan to mourn his passing — and salvage a rocky relationship with the only parent she has left.

A narrative trifurcated across decades and generations, Fawzia Mizra’s “The Queen of My Dreams” follows a young Pakistani Canadian coming to terms with her upbringing. It hits all the familiar beats of a first-generation South Asian story and, despite its novel queer bent and tongue-in-cheek casting, it does little to separate itself, thematically or stylistically, from a now repetitive form of “third culture” storytelling.
The sound of a slide projector yanks the film’s opening images into place, as though it were a slideshow of family memories. The year is 1999. The place is Toronto. Azra is a wannabe actress — a profession of which her mother disapproves. She lives with her white, female “roommate” (her parents are none the wiser), to whom she excitedly shows the 1969 Hindi classic “Aradhana” starring Sharmila Tagore. “The Queen of My Dreams” is an English translation of the title of that movie’s most famous song,...

Universal International Studios is fast getting back into business following the end of the U.S. labor action, its bosses say.
In a keynote interview at Content London yesterday afternoon, Uis President Beatrice Springborn told delegates that productions such as Apples Never Fall and Day of the Jackal are back up and running, while new packages such as the buzzy Cape Fear TV reboot at Uis sister UCP are attracting offers.
This is despite the broadly downbeat perceptions around the entertainment market following a devastating 2023 that was punctuated by the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, the ongoing ad market downturn and a streamer business model reset.

Content is king is the belief the film industry has thrived upon all along. An appropriate casting as per the needs of the story completed the basics of making a film. A director craved for a good performer rather than a star and did not chase a star just for the sake of it.
It was because of content that films with no star value such as ‘Saraswatichandra’ (Manish), ‘Kora Kagaz’, ‘Dosti’ (Sudhir and Sushil) and ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’ (Salman Khan) went on to become hits. These are just a few examples.
Rajesh Khanna had delivered many flops before he could give his first hit and so had Amitabh Bachchan. When a good script that matched their talent and persona came up, it made them a star.
When a star is born thanks to a few huge hits, everybody wants to cast him and this phenomenon causes the downfall of a star.

Content is king is the belief the film industry has thrived upon all along. An appropriate casting as per the needs of the story completed the basics of making a film. A director craved for a good performer rather than a star and did not chase a star just for the sake of it.

New Delhi, Aug 8 (Ians) With a view to tapping cricketing talent from across Punjab and bringing it under the spotlight, the Punjab Cricket Association (Pca) recently concluded its own T20 league — Sher-e-Punjab T20 Cup — which witnessed participation by six teams, and is all set to grow bigger.
Conceived by the Pca secretary (honourary) Dilsher Khanna, the maiden event attracted sponsorships from major industrial houses including Trident and Jk Cement among others to the tune of Rs 9 crore.
“The entire exercise was conducted to bring to the forefront the immense talent hidden in the remotest part of the state. For 17 days, a total of 33 matches were played which were aired on a major television channel live streamed too. The matches were attended by top players, Ipl scouts, and coaches — thus giving the young players the much-needed exposure,” says the 32-year-old secretary.

Billy Ray and Todd Garner are back for Week 6 of the Writers Guild standoff on Deadline’s Strike Talk podcast. Click below to listen.
This week, our hosts look at what the seismic developments of the past week will mean. Hailing it as groundbreaking, the Directors Guild agreed tentatively to a deal, and will bring it to membership shortly. At the same time, about 48% of SAG-AFTRA members cast votes on whether to authorize an actors strike if a deal isn’t struck the month’s end, and an overwhelming 97.91% of those voting gave the guild a strike authorization. Armed with that resolve, the guild has just began negotiating with the AMPTP, while there’s still no progress on getting back to the table with the writers.

While representing Silicon Valley’s 17th congressional district, Democratic congressman Ro Khanna has pulled off a unique political balancing act. He’s successfully positioned himself as a progressive capitalist, supported by billionaires in Big Tech while serving as a co-chair of Bernie Sanders’ last presidential campaign, which pilloried the billionaire class. But Khanna sees bringing disparate groups and ideas together as the key to success in politics and life.
After getting a law degree from Yale, Khanna interned for former President Jimmy Carter and former Vice President Al Gore, as well as volunteered for one of President Barack Obama’s early campaigns. He eventually served in the Obama administration before heading into private practice at a high-profile Silicon Valley law firm. He lectured at Stanford, then launched his own political career, running unsuccessfully for Congress once, before winning on his second try. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Khanna discusses his Hollywood staples,...

As striking writers gathered Wednesday afternoon outside Netflix’s Manhattan headquarters, they were greeted by a visitor from what might be considered enemy territory: U.S. Rep. Ro Khanna, a Democratic congressman whose 17th district sits in the heart of California’s Silicon Valley.
Khanna, here as an ally, gave a rousing speech through a bullhorn to demonstrators as their protest got underway on the second day of the WGA strike. “Many of us in Congress will be standing with you in your just fight,” he said to cheers.
Before then, Khanna spoke with Deadline about the disruptions caused by technologies, such as streaming and artificial intelligence, that have emerged from the computational laboratories in his home district.
“Writers are the heart and soul of the entertainment that we watch,” he said, adding that the models for compensating them “have changed because of the technology in my district in Silicon Valley.

Out of all the characters that you will come across in an Indian film, one that you will rarely see go astray is a mother. That too, the hero’s mother. She is an entity that restrains him with no physical bounds, gives him strength like no other energy drink, drives him to lengths beyond imagination (all within 2.5 hours) and without her, teaches him lessons universities worldwide have yet to discover. From being a sari clad soap opera box drama queen to a sophisticated career driven business magnet, she has transformed in front of us but one thing remains. The positive energy one feels from our filmi “Ma”. It may be a scene or a song, but she is there and her love unconditional. Yes, there may be some stories that forget about her, yet there is no denying, our cinematic mothers have sometimes been the saving grace for our films.
