Exclusive: Shelved producer Counterfeit Pictures has hired Canadian networks veteran Christian Kelley.
Effective May 21, the long-time Bell Media exec will join as Director of Scripted Television, overseeing both development and production.
Over the past two decades, Kelley has worked on numerous Canadian shows. In his role as Production Executive at broadcaster Bell, he worked on shows such as Children Ruin Everything, Letterkenny, Shoresy and Late Bloomer, along with Counterfeit shows The Office Movers, Roast Battle Canada and Shelved.
He also overseen comedy specials from the likes of Aisha Brown, Kyle Brownrigg, Sophie Buddle, DJ Demers, Mark Forward, Tom Henry, Robby Hoffman, Graham Kay, Chris Locke, Dave Merheje, Paul Rabliauskas, Chris Robinson, and DeAnne Smith.

Amy Schumer, James Acaster, Jimmy O. Yang and many other comedians have joined the lineup of Just for Laughs Montreal’s 40th anniversary festival. The news comes ahead of the launch for tickets of the event, which goes live Wednesday.
Schumer, Acaster, Yang, Jimmy Carr, Dara Ó Briain, Debra Digiovanni, Jacqueline Novak, Katherine Ryan, Maria Bamford, Fortune Feimster will all perform concert shows over the course of the almost three-week long Canadian comedy festival. In addition, Rick Mercer will host a special concert spotlighting Canadian comics. They join previously announced performers, who include John Mulaney and Hasan Minhaj.
Just for Laughs also announced a special gala celebrating the festival’s 40th anniversary, as well as several club shows, a podcast reading for Hesseltine and Rayna Greenberg’s comedy show “Girls Gotta Eat” and programming for the Off-jfl spin-off festival.

The Amazon Prime Video competition series “Lol: Last One Laughing” will launch a Canadian edition Feb. 18.
“Last One Laughing Canada” competitors include Caroline Rhea, Dave Foley, Debra Digiovanni, Jon Lajoie, Tom Green, Colin Mochrie, Mae Martin, Brandon Ash Mohammed, Andrew Phung and K. Trevor Wilson. Hosted by Jay Baruchel, the six-part series follows the 10 comedians as they try to eliminate others by making each other laugh, while not laughing themselves. The comedian who outlasts their competitors wins the grand prize of $100,000 for their charity of choice.
Executive Producers are John Brunton, Erin Brock, and Shannon Farr. The series is produced in association with Insight Productions.

Just because the show is called StandUp in Stilettos doesn't mean the comedians featured on it are actually wearing them. Debra Digiovanni (Comedy Central's Live at Gotham), for one, jokes that if she strapped on a pair of heels, they'd turn into flats.

Yesterday, the ceremony of the Writers Guild of Canada Awards was hosted by comedian Debra Digiovanni. During that night, the winners, who work either in the film or television industry, were revealed.
