Take a look at any list of the :a[best kids’ movies]{href='https://www.empireonline.com/movies/features/best-kids-movies/' } ever made and you’ll be pretty sure to find Danny DeVito’s 1996 Roald Dahl adaptation :a[Matilda]{href='https://www.empireonline.com/movies/reviews/roald-dahl-matilda-review/' } on there. A nostalgic, sweethearted, magical shortcut to the warm and fuzzies, there’s a reason why 27 years (and a :a[Matilda The Musical]{href='https://www.empireonline.com/movies/reviews/matilda-the-musical/' } on both stage and screen) later, it remains a firm family favourite. All of which is to say that word of a Wormwood family reunion involving co-stars DeVito and actual Matilda herself, Mara Wilson, is more than enough to have us all kinds of excited – and maybe just a wee bit wistful.

New Girl has been many things in its nearly two seasons on the air: a frustrating mess of uneven adorkability, a polished comedic gem, an effective reminder that Natasha Lyonne is still among the living - and your numer-one source for jokes about Rusted Root on network TV.
But on this week's "Quick Hardening Caulk," New Girl went where it has never before dared: guys, this show has gone Full Screwball! Full-on fish-throwing, aquarium-breaking, power-drill-as-a-penis-metaphor screwball, I tell you!
On one hand, it was surprising that the sitcom decided to jettison its veneer of hipster cool and go full-tilt into double entendre penis gags that your parents could laugh at (I mean, not in front of you. I mean, your parents don't know what penises are! I mean, you know what I mean).
Though I found this episode roundly hilarious, I was a little shocked to find a joke or...

MTV News' 'Idol' experts share their choices for Jessica Sanchez, Joshua Ledet, Phillip Phillips and Hollie Cavanagh.
By Gil Kaufman and James Montgomery
Phillip Phillips, Hollie Cavanagh, Joshua Ledet and Jessica Sanchez on "American Idol"

For the most part, the themes on this season's "American Idol" have been pretty straightforward: Queen, Whitney Houston, Personal Idols, Songs From the Year You Were Born, Songs From the 1980s, More Songs About Buildings and Food (look it up).
But when the final four take the stage Wednesday night (May 9), they'll be tasked with performing two songs in one of the most ambiguous, wide-open themes in the show's history: California Dreamin' (songs by Californians) and Songs I Wish I'd Written.
Considering that the only singer left on the show who might reasonably write his own songs is Phillip Phillips (sample chorus: "Growwwwwl") and that Joshua Ledet has proven...

If you thought last night’s episode of New Girl was surreal, what with its near-threesome set to the tune of Rusted Root’s “Send Me On My Way,” just wait until you see what Zooey Deschanel is doing in the new promo video for this weekend’s new episode of Saturday Night Live. Okay, so it’s not nearly as strange as her sexy horrifying encounter with Remy and Nick, but the quirky star, who is hosting the show for her first time, still comes down with a case of jazz hands, shares informative Black History Month facts, sings,...

A quick review of last night's "New Girl" coming up just as soon as I paint a sexually-charged zero gravity tea ceremony in my closet... There have been episodes of "New Girl" that I felt haven't worked in one way or another, but "Landlord" was the first episode I outright hated. Outside of the brief sequence in the middle where Schmidt was telling Cece his problems and listing unsexy things ("What if I had a croissant blog?"), and possibly the choice of Rusted Root as Remy's mood music, I found nearly all of it painful, over the top, and/or miscalculated. While...

Here’s American Idol auditioner Reed Grimm with the greatest song selection in Idol Audition history: a scatty, vocal version of the Family Matters Theme Song. If you’re expecting the performance to be one of those fun, throwaway novelty auditions, then think again, cause this dude can scat with Urkelbot-like precision. I only wish he’d finished his audition with an intense “Did I Do That? Yes.” to the judges… For the record, Michelle wasn’t entirely impressed, adding “I could Nail that song,” and I don’t doubt her. Though personally, if I were trying out, I might’ve opted for more of a Miller-Boyett Medley concluding with me riding the Step By Step roller coaster, but I guess they really are pressed for time. Still, way to go Pittsburgh auditions! Has my hometown found another Rusted Root?? At the very least, we definitely now have the best...

Did you miss last week's Cat-tactic episode? Catch up with my recap here.
"Chuck vs the Masquerade" opens in Samara, Russia. A man gets into the back of a car and asks the driver, Jurek, if he has heard of the whereabouts of a key. Volkoff didn't give it to him, Jurek answers. Volkoff must have "chosen Anotnia." That was evidently the incorrect answer as the man kills Jurek. Cut to Perugia, Italy. The same man kisses a beautiful woman passionately. She pulls gun on him and says she knows what happened to Jurek. She tries to fire the gun, but there are no bullets. The man shows her the bullets he removed from her gun an kills her. Next stop: Bremen, Germany. The man tells Chrisoph he is the last of Volkoff's lieutenants. Christoph swears he doesn't have key, but he knows who does.

This week Chuck was jam packed with a new expansion to the Volkoff empire, action, emotional scenes and the best use of Star Wars toys (I of course mean collectibles) to grace our screens since The Adam and Joe Show.
Casey and Morgan both felt like spare parts with Chuck and Sarah, Casey on the work side and Morgan at home. It is a testament to how well that Chuck and Sarah work as a team that have induced these feelings in their friends. Of course they still need Casey and Morgan, but for Morgan it probably is about time that he flies the coop. Casey is often the third man in the missions, especially now that Chuck can control his use of the Intersect, though this episode reinforced that he has much needed skills out in the field beyond his excellent bar tending skills. A very bittersweet (and impossibly nerdy) breakup and a slew of new opportunities -- along with a possible new bad guy -- highlighted this week's "Chuck."
It's not that the past two episodes have skimped on character development, but "Chuck vs. the Masquerade" also threw a whole bunch of spy stuff on top pretty big things in the non-spy lives of Chuck and Morgan, Casey, and Ellie and Awesome. Yet despite all those plates spinning (and a few excellent comedy beats), nothing felt underserved. It was an excellent balancing act.
Chuck vs. the daughter
Someone is taking out Volkoff's lieutenants, and Beckman assigns the team to find Vivian McArthur, who the general believes is Volkoff's chosen successor. She's also Volkoff's daughter -- but she knows nothing of her father's criminal enterprise or the "key" the assassin is looking for.
The team gets Vivian back to Castle without much of a hitch.

Every year sites like VoteForTheWorst are on the lookout for what they call 'plants', contestants inserted into the contest by the producers for the purpose of sustaining the level of professionalism. If you believe such things, you should be tuning into Jesse Ventura's Conspiracy Theory! The fact is, there are tons of prolifically unemployed musicians out there - I know, I had a room-mate who had a contract with Emi - until he didn't. In some people's eyes, the further a person has penetrated in their quest for celebrity the less they should be allowed to compete on American Idol. I can't say I agree. American Idol prohibits contestants who already have contracts. According to the official rules, you can't audition for American Idol if you have ...

Well, if I were to base my perception of prison on this exclusive poster for Dec. 3′s I Love You Phillip Morris — and not on National Geographic Channel’s Lockdown — I’d say the penitentiary is hardly a place where you have to craft homemade shivs MacGyver-style out of soap, a bed sheet, and a poster of Rita Hayworth when you’re not fearing for your life. Instead, this ad for the movie — about two cellmates who fall in love — makes prison look like a heavenly jaunt in the electrically fenced-in park where you can spend your days gleefully teaching geometry lessons with your body.
