It’s been an excellent weekend for those who enjoy collecting video game soundtracks on vinyl. Just a few days ago, UK record label Data Discs announced their partnership with Sega to bring Golden Axe I and II to vinyl, which comes packed in with archived artwork, which has been packaged in as lithographic prints. For those who are interested in picking up a copy for themselves, the record is now available for purchase on Data Discs’ website, although I should note that the limited edition (which adorns the record with purple swatches for a cool visual effect when the record is spinning) is sold out at the moment.
However, if subversive and humorous RPGs are more up your alley, than iam8bit has you covered. In collaboration with developer (and composer) Toby Fox, the soundtrack for Undertale, the much-beloved title which released last year, will be released on vinyl.

Lifeless Planet developer Stage 2 Studios has confirmed via Sony’s PlayStation Blog that their eerie sci-fi exploration title will be available for PlayStation 4 owners beginning July 19, bringing with it a range of graphical and technical improvements.
Having already been made available on PC and Xbox One earlier in the year, Stage 2 member David Board says that players of the PS4 version can look forward to an updated character model for the astronaut (comparison below), as well as “advanced physically based shaders and dramatically improved lightning” made possible by an updated game engine.
The only questions that remains now then is: can the improvements and upgrades made to Lifeless Planet improve the core gameplay experience. While being commended for its intriguing world and interesting premise, our own Eric Hall felt that the positives couldn’t “quite make up for the shoddy gameplay and frustrating glitches that accompanied it,” in his review of the original.

Texture pop-ins and framerate issues have threatened to cast a shadow over Campo Santo’s lush rendition of the Wyoming wilderness, and recently the developer took to Reddit to assure early Firewatch adopters its working “around the clock” to resolve those hitches that have reared their head on PlayStation 4.
In fact, Campo Santo is “super fucking bummed” these technical issues exist in the first place. According to studio co-founder Sean Vanaman, when Firewatch was tested on PS4 dev kits no framerate issues were detected, nixing any suggestions that the studio had “saw this stuff and went ‘eh, screw it, sell it anyway.'”
Per Reddit.
“We’re really trying, I promise! I’ve played the game for hundreds and hundreds of hours on PS4, and maybe because it’s on test-kits and some retail boxes are different I personally didn’t experience these things. That doesn’t mean they don’t exist,...

The end of the year is always a great time to look back on the past 12 months and reminisce on the games that filled us with joy, kept us up late on a school night and had us talking with our friends for hours on end about every little detail. While there is certainly a place on Wgtc for that, it’s not here. Instead, we’re here to take a look the titles that disappointed us the most throughout 2014.
Keep in mind, just because these games disappointed us doesn’t mean that they were awful in every sense. On the contrary; some of our writers enjoyed them enough to still make room for the on their end of the year lists. Rather, these games disappointed us simply because they didn’t live up to the promise they showed or hinted at in the months leading up to release. These...

Netflix has revolutionized the way we watch movies and television, starting simply by mailing titles directly to your house, then evolving into the streaming mecca of all things instantly watchable. Let’s be honest though, how often do we still get Netflix titles in the mail? How many of us have the same Netflix envelope from eight moths ago sitting on our dresser, pushed aside for television series binge-watching and impulse selections? We’ve all been there, and we’re all still paying for that monthly by-mail DVD delivery subscription because hey, you never know, right?
Shifting our sights to the Netflix Watch Instantly catalog, scrolling through title after title can be one of the most intimidating experiences a normal human has to encounter. How many of you sit there for 20 minutes cycling through lists of movies only to become frustrated, give up, and pop in one of your go-to crowd pleasers?...
