Exclusive: Disney+ has opted not to order a second season of space race series The Right Stuff. The Mercury 7 period drama, starring Patrick J. Adams and Jake McDorman, originated at National Geographic before launching as a Disney+ original last October. It is Disney+’s first scripted series cancellation.
Warner Bros. Television, the studio behind The Right Stuff, is shopping it to other outlets, with WarnerMedia siblings TNT and HBO Max considered logical potential targets. I hear the options on the cast expire tomorrow, and Wbtv has asked for a two-week extension while the efforts to find a new home continue.
There is a major incentive for Wbtv and parent WarnerMedia to try and keep The Right Stuff going — in November, the series, produced by Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way, was given $13.7 million to move from Florida to California for Season 2, the fourth-highest relocating incentive ever awarded under the Cfc program.

Ben Lawson has signed on to the ABC comedy pilot “Nana” in the latest pilot season recasting, TheWrap has learned.
The addition of Lawson comes as the pilot is set to undergo a retooling following the first table read. The “Designated Survivor” alum will step in for Josh Cooke, who had previously booked the part.
Lawson will star opposite Katey Sagal in the multi-camera hybrid, which centers on an obsessive, overprotective dad (Lawson), who is forced to invite his brash and bawdy mother-in-law — Nana (Sagal) — into his home to help raise the two granddaughters she barely knows.

Exclusive: ABC’s multi-camera/hybrid comedy pilot Nana, headlined and co-executive produced by Katey Sagal, is making a major casting change. Ben Lawson (Designated Survivor) has been tapped as the male lead opposite Sagal. He replaces Josh Cooke, who had been originally cast in the role.
The decision was made after the pilot’s table read late last week, which triggered a substantial reworking of the script. While Sagal as the title character was very well received, a number of other elements underwent changes, including the male lead character Alex getting reconceived. That led to the recasting.
Recastings are not uncommon in the pressure cooker of broadcast pilot season when some 70-80 pilots are being made at the same time on tight deadlines. The table read is the first time the key elements of a pilot — script and cast — come together and the producers can see if everything clicks. Nana...

The title Framing John DeLorean can be taken at least two ways – framing as in setting someone up for a fall, and framing as in putting in context. This new trailer for the film, making its world premiere at the upcoming Tribeca Film Festival, illustrates how directors Don Argott & Sheena M. Joyce intend to accomplish the latter.
Combining archival footage with a more traditional biopic approach featuring Alec Baldwin sporting massive, jet-black eyebrows and a mop of gray hair, Framing John DeLorean is the first feature film about a man whose name dominated headlines in the 1980s. Here’s how Sundance Selects describes it: “For the first time, Framing John DeLorean recounts the extraordinary life and legend of the controversial automaker, tracing his meteoric rise through the ranks of General Motors, his obsessive quest to build a sports car that would conquer the world, and his shocking fall from grace on charges of cocaine trafficking.

In the new film “Framing John DeLorean,” Alec Baldwin plays the beleaguered car manufacturer who invented the “Back to the Future” car and gambled everything in pursuit of the American dream.
But the question posed at the start of the first trailer for the film is, why hasn’t a movie been made about his life sooner?
“It’s got cocaine, hot chicks, sports cars, bombed out buildings, FBI agents, Margaret Thatcher, Ronald Reagan, hardcore drug dealers,” his son says in the first trailer for the film.

Josh Cooke has been cast in a lead role in the ABC hybrid comedy pilot “Nana” opposite Katey Sagal, Variety has learned.
Cooke will play Alex, a fire chief in Indianapolis who is a newly widowed single father of two girls. It’s clear that he is in over his head with the girls, but he is reluctant to hire help and can’t imagine letting a stranger look after his children. Overly protective and a bit controlling, the last thing he wants is to welcome his late wife’s chaotic, disruptive and inappropriate mother, Nana (Katey Sagal), into the home. After seeing Nana interacting with the girls, he’s forced to reconsider his stance; she might be exactly what the family needs in the face of their recent loss.

Mass shootings, police brutality, the prison industrial complex, a telepath or two — okay, so Castle Rock isn’t strictly a case of art imitating life. But its very good fourth episode — “The Box” — contains enough real-world ugliness to make the supernatural stuff almost superfluous. (Almost.) It’s the clearest sign yet that the show is taking the themes of its source material seriously. Whatever evil lurks in this sleepy Maine town, it has plenty of homegrown nightmares to draw from.

All season long on “Hart of Dixie,” Zoe (Rachel Bilson) has done everything she could to make her new relationship with Joel (guest star Josh Cooke) work while avoiding old flame Wade (Wilson Bethel) like the plague, despite clearly still having feelings for him. Zoe Hart has been working at her late father Harvey Wilkes' medical practice in Bluebell for three seasons now on "Hart of Dixie," but we have yet to meet any other family members from Zoe's biological paternal side.
All that is about to change, as "Paranormal Activity 3" star Lauren Bittner guest stars in the upcoming episode, "Family Tradition," as Vivian, Zoe's cousin on her Wilkes side. How do these two long-lost cousins reunite? In a purely coincidental fashion, Zoe and Joel want to buy a new home that is currently owned by Vivian.
While we're excited to meet a long-lost relative of Zoe's, we're less than thrilled that Zoe and Joel are looking to buy a home together. As we've made it pretty clear: Joel is the worst.

"Hart of Dixie's" protagonist Zoe Hart is one lucky lady, and her portrayer Rachel Bilson knows it.
"[Zoe] is very lucky to have very many attractive contenders," Bilson says on "The Talk" on Wednesday (Oct. 30). "She's busy. Plus, she's a doctor, so she's got lots going on."
Fans of The CW's southern drama have been calling Zoe's current romantic situation a "love square," as she has three romantic interests for Season 3. "There's one who's actually her boyfriend right now. The character's name is Joel played by Josh Cooke, who's a great actor and so much fun," Bilson says. "And then Wade is the shirtless wonder, and George Tucker the singing wonder. Scott [Porter] likes to sing."
Does Bilson think that three romantic interests is too much for one girl to handle? Not at all. "She's busy, but it's not a bad thing," Bilson says. "It keeps things interesting. Why not a square rather than a triangle?...

Zap2it: Is your character, New York City novelist Joel, causing trouble in BlueBell, Ala., for his new love, fellow transplanted New Yorker Dr. Zoe Hart (Rachel Bilson)?
Josh Cooke: Sort of, but I think maybe not directly -- maybe indirectly. Actually I caused a little trouble in Episode 3 for Zoe. She is a little hurricane, and Rachel is that way, too. I said to her the other day, "You make it so easy in scenes." She's so simple and easy.
Zap2it: You're wearing the classic hipster glasses sported by many writer types. How do you like them?
Josh Cooke: I've never worn glasses before, but I kind of like these. I'm a fan of them. I figure, one day, if I need to wear them, I'm going to get them.

Zoe Hart is finally going to realize how much her new boyfriend Joel sucks in "Hart of Dixie" Season 3 episode 5 ... thank goodness.
After almost ruining her chances of getting her job at the practice back in this week's episode, and pretty much not acclimating to his new southern home at all, Joel's all-around ineptitude of all things Bluebell will become apparent to his girlfriend in "How Do You Like Me Now?" Of course, Zoe being Zoe, she'll do everything in her power to fix that ... but of course, Zoe being Zoe, her plans will blow up in her face for our entertainment.
Check out these first look photos The CW just released from the episode, and let's assume the unfortunate soul dangling high up on the rock wall is Joel, because that would just make our day.

The "Hart of Dixie" Season 3 premiere had many classic "Hart of Dixie" staples: a town parade, hilarious quotes, relationship drama, and Zoe Hart learning a valuable lesson. The lesson the pint-sized doc learned by the hour's end? In order to know the answer to the question, "Who says you can't go home?" you have to first know where "home" is. For Zoe, home wasn't New York, as she always thought. As Lavon so wisely pointed out to her, "What if Buebell is real and New York is just the rest stop?"
Before Zoe arrived at this life-changing realization, she first had to make many, many mistakes (surprise surprise). The biggest mistake: extending her summer in New York from three months to five, and then deciding to stay in the Big Apple permanently. Instead of saying goodbye to all her friends (and exes) in Bluebell, she sent emails letting everyone know she wasn't coming back.

Hart of Dixie‘s Season 3 premiere is a rough go for “Zade” and “Zeorge” fans alike, with the reveal that — during the CW charmer’s five-month time-jump — pint-sized doc Zoe Hart has moved on with a surprisingly likeable (and smart and adorable and…) new love, played by Dexter‘s Josh Cooke. What’s more, George is missing in action and Wade, well…. Wade is the same as he ever was. Only single, if not quite ready to mingle.
Here’s how the hour unfolded:

As season three of The CW's romantic dramedy "Hart of Dixie" opens tonight (Monday, Oct. 7), New York Dr. Zoe Hart (Rachel Bilson) has spent a summer back in the Big Apple after blowing off both lawyer George (Scott Porter) and bar owner ex-boyfriend Wade (Wilson Bethel), who rushed to declare his love for her before she left.
And since she also blew off her adopted home of BlueBell, Ala., to return to the big city, no one there's particularly happy to see her either when she shows up again.
Of course, one way or another, Zoe's staying in BlueBell, but this Gotham expatriate is going to now have some company.
Starting in the season premiere, Josh Cooke ("Dexter") joins the cast as Joel, a New York novelist who's landed in BlueBell to ... well, even Cooke isn't entirely sure.

We aren't the only ones who have been impatiently waiting for Zoe Hart to return to Bluebell in "Hart of Dixie's" Season 3 premiere. When the good doctor finally makes her way back in "Who Says You Can't Go Home," she'll have to answer to Wade -- you know, the guy that confessed his love for her, only to have her leave town for the summer? -- for a huge reason.
"She's got a new beau!" Wilson Bethel tells Zap2it, referring to "Dexter's" Josh Cooke's new character, Joel. "She picked option D, which nobody saw coming. But I don't think that necessarily rules out any of the other possibilities of Wade or George. Nothing much changes in Bluebell. As other things change, Bluebell stays the same."
So how will George and Wade take Zoe's return after blowing both of them off for NYC for the summer? "I...

Jennifer Finnigan anticipates still starting many work weeks on Monday mornings, even if she no longer does it on the show by that name.
The actress has moved on to other projects, including Saturday's (Aug. 17) new Lifetime movie "Baby Sellers," which casts her as an investigator probing a questionable adoption-agency operator (Kirstie Alley). Still, Finnigan laments the end of TNT's "Monday Mornings," the recent medical drama in which she starred with such notables as Alfred Molina and Ving Rhames.
"The ratings were a disappointment," she admits to Zap2it, "but they were building each week, and our audience was extremely loyal. I just think it had so much potential. Cable networks have a history of giving shows with a pedigree a shot, so it surprised me a bit."

When Hart of Dixie picks up, lovebirds Lavon and Annabeth (the newly promoted Kaitlyn Black) are “still happily together,” showrunner Leila Gerstein shared recently with TVLine, “but having some tension because his demanding cousin has moved in.”
Said troublemaker, we’ve learned exclusively, will be played by newcomer Antoinette Robertson (Zero Hour, A Gifted Man).
Her character, Lynly, is described as “beautiful yet spoiled and clueless.”
Dexter alum Josh Cooke, meanwhile, will recur in Dixie‘s third season, per The Hollywood Reporter. He joins the CW charmer as a New Yorker who feels out of place upon relocating to Bluebell.

This upcoming Sunday, Jun 30th, Showtime's 'Dexter' returns for its 8th and final season! And one of the things I’ve always loved about the show is the time it takes to set up its key story threads for the entire season; meaning it usually takes a good 3-4 episodes before I get a feel for the overall direction they’re heading in. And with that, there are often interested side stories that seem prominent at first but then never pan out. Now, I’m sure there are plenty of plot threads you’re all wondering about – whatever happened to Lumen? Is Jordan Chase presumed dead, or in hiding? Whatever happened to that hottie Masuka started dating while setting up Dexter’s bachelor party? Inquiring minds want to know. But for right now, here are 6 of my personal curiosities. With the final season fast approaching, might some of...

More from the Garden State: De Rosa Searchs For Romantic Eccentricities
Director Carlo De Rosa’s debut feature is yet another addition to the long list of films about a down-on-his-luck guy who falls for a quirky girl who miraculously gets him out of his comfort zone and saves him from a life of loneliness. Finding Joy is plagued with cliches so much that it would be easy to refer to it as Garden State 2.0 or Seeking a Friend for the End of the World minus the imminent, probably redemptive, destruction of the planet. In fact, the two protagonists uncannily resemble Steve Carell and Keira Knightley. De Rosa desperately tries to create the illusion of having well-developed characters by adding random eccentricities to each one of the supporting roles.
The premise is basic. Kyle (Josh Cooke) is a writer who hasn’t found much success and must go back home...

Liane Balaban made an impression as Dustin Hoffman’s sweetly sad, set-to-wed daughter in “Last Chance Harvey,” and will be recognizable to plenty of folks from her recurring role on the small screen’s “Supernatural.” In her latest film, however, Balaban gets to channel a wild, daffy femininity whose unhinged, slightly damaged siren call will strike a chord of familiarity in many a guy. In the vein of “Mad Love” and “Sweet November,” “Finding Joy” finds disillusioned author Kyle (Josh Cooke) returning home and having to cope with various indignities tossed his way by his estranged father (Barry Bostwick) and new stepmother (Lainie Kazan), when he meets Balaban’s spunky bohemian title character. Like the kid who discovers Silly Bandz are cool and comes to class wearing a sleeve of them, the creators of Finding Joy seem to have gotten whatever memo is encouraging Zooey Deschanel-style "quirkiness" to be worn as a badge of honor. Carlo De Rosa's comedy bears some resemblance to Garden State, although it's a little less depressing and more random in its oddities. Kyle (Josh Cooke), a "boy next door gone wrong" writer, struggling with his second book, comes back home when he can no longer mooch off his friends. That means staying with his "wacked" family, who he hasn't visited since his mother's death: his agoraphobic father, dad's sex-addicted ladylove, a closeted cross-dressing brother, a shrew of a sister-in-law, and, the only sane one, his aspiring novelist niece...

We’ve crossed the halfway point in Dexter Season 7. Here’s the current rundown on key characters and relationships, ranked by grade.
The Villain – Isaak Sirko (Ray Stevenson)
Starting with the Ice Truck Killer in Season 1, Dexter became known for its remarkable villains. However, that all came to an end after John Lithgow stole the show as Trinity in Season 4. Season 5 featured Jordan Chase (Jonny Lee Miller), a motivational speaker by day and sexual deviant by night. He was bland to say the least. Then, Season 6 hit us with the Doomsday curve ball – mark it just plain bad.
Season 7 finally takes us back to a villain we can truly fear. Not only is Isaak Sirko Russian mafia, he’s also wicked awesome in a fight. He’s the kind of boss who has no problems with getting his hands dirty. In Episode 7.5, Dexter (Michael C. Hall) put him behind bars.

After three episodes of Dexter season 7, it’s clear that the series is back on track to rekindling the glory days of seasons one through four. While we may not have Doakes (Erik King) or the Trinity Killer (John Lithgow), we do have a suspenseful season without the cheesy melodrama of the Lumen era.
The truth about Dexter is in the open and the subsequent Dexter-Deb relationship is everything we could have hoped for from the series. Deb is struggling with her knowledge. Dexter feels like a caged animal under the watchful eye of Deb. Even waiting at line to send mail leaves him perilously close to killing, as he daydreams about ending the life of the mail clerk. Because he can’t deal with Louis (Josh Cooke) in the way he would like, he takes a different tact, sending out two packages that should do the trick. At work, as Deb’s eyes dance all over Dexter, and Masuka notices her odd treatment toward him, Dexter imagines killing Masuka, something that would make Dexter fans cry everywhere. When Dexter has to deal with an uncooperative inmate, he snaps, attacking the prisoner and choking him out.
