Bryan Adams rose to fame and success as a rock everyman. Even when he was No 1 in the UK for 16 weeks with “(Everything I Do) I Do It for You”, the clip that Top of the Pops showed over and over again featured Adams looking less like a rock star than a man who’s realised he has to pop back to B&Q for some more creosote. In the Eighties, when being a gruff-voiced man of the people from North America (Adams is Canadian) was a desirable trait in a rock star, he became enormous – his 1984 album Reckless sold five million copies in the US alone – but he never seemed to be a rock star. He was big; he just didn’t project it.
The irony is that Adams is not and was not an everyman. His life was not and is not like yours. He was an army brat as a kid,...

We chatted to Rich Lawden, the maker of documentary Ghostwatch: Behind The Curtains, about the haunting legacy of Pipes...
When Ghostwatch screened on BBC1 in 1992, it received a record number of complaints from viewers who were upset, shocked, terrified or angry about it. Worried that perhaps they had gone too far, the BBC refused to rebroadcast it and, as a result of its relative obscurity, the show took on a near-mythical cult status. However, one young viewer it made a huge impression on was Rich Lawden who, twenty years later, would release a passionate and comprehensive documentary (Ghostwatch: Behind The Curtains) that covered everything you could ever want to know about the programme but were afraid to ask.

Terry Waite has revealed that he turned down an offer to appear on I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here.
The author and humanitarian confirmed the approach took place "many years ago", but he declined because he "wasn't tempted by the offer of a large fee".
Waite, who is president of homelessness charity Emmaus, also said that the I'm A Celebrity jungle can be like a "paradise" compared to living on the streets.
Writing in a blog about the show on the charity's website, he said: "I have no doubt [the contestants] find it uncomfortable at times, but in reality it's not all that bad. Rice and beans is not too hard to bear for a couple of weeks.
"But what about people who are living on the streets at this time of year? Many, if not all of them, at some time in their lives would have been happy to...
