Major Crimes, the continuation series of The Closer, ran for an incredible six seasons, totaling over 100 episodes,
While the show didn't receive as much critical acclaim as The Closer and didn't earn any Emmys, the show was a success for TNT.
The ensemble-driven Major Crimes featured many of the same characters and performers as its predecessor, which rarely happens on television.
The show premiered after The Closer's finale, with only a few casting changes, such as Kyra Sedgwick stepping down from her leading role.
What is the cast of Major Crimes doing now? Find out below!
Bonus: Corey Reynolds as David Gabriel from The Closer
Corey Reynolds is one of the few to appear in every episode of The Closer but not transfer to Major Crimes, mainly because his character David Gabriel got moved to the Da's office Bureau of Investigation as their liaison.

The teenager whose illness is a moving highlight of the director's Christmas documentary is now on the mend
No one who watches Kevin Macdonald's new documentary film will forget the scene: standing at the hospital bedside of his desperately sick grandson on Christmas Day last year, 90-year-old Bill Reid, a former second world war pilot, has only one wish. He asks for the chance to see his entire family together again next Christmas Day. And it seems that, a year on, his wish has been granted.
The sickroom vignette – which shows 20-year-old Will Pope's efforts to speak, as he lies, surrounded by his relatives and attached to life-support machines – forms a key moment in Macdonald's latest cinematic collage, Christmas in a Day, about the British approach to the festive season. The Oscar-winning director, who made The Last King of Scotland and Touching the Void, has put together footage...

Will Pope Alexander (Jeremy Irons) die? That was the burning question fans of The Borgias were left with when the pope took a sip of poisoned wine and fell to the floor in the final moments of Season 2. The answer to that question, however, won't be so black and white.
"This episode gave us the great opportunity to allow Alexander to be in a state suspended between death and life," creator and executive producer Neil Jordan says of the Season 3 opener. Adds writer Guy Burt: "That's how I wanted to start Season 3 ... with 'The pope is dying. The pope is dying. What do we do?'"

One of my Father’s Day presents this year was the return of Falling Skies on TNT for its second season. This show is one that despite all of its flaws I love.
For those who didn’t see the first season and are unfamiliar with the premise, here it is. Aliens came to Earth. They conquered human civilization pretty easily. The survivors have formed up militia style to become the resistance. They fight the aliens, the aliens fight back.
Some things we learned last season (Spoiler Alert):
There are two varieties of aliens. The first variety is the skitter/cooty. It is a large multilegged insect looking alien. It’s fast, strong and tough to kill. The second variety is the skinny and it reminds me exactly of the description of the skinnies in Starship Troopers (the book). It is tall and technologically advanced. Up until the last...

J.K. Simmons, who is wrapping a seven-season run on TNT’s hit drama series The Closer, is making a switch to comedy with a co-starring role opposite Kyle Bornheimer in ABC/ABC Studios’ half-hour pilot White Van Man. The single-camera comedy, written by Bobby Bowman and directed by Michael Fresco, is a blue collar ensemble based on the British format and centers on a man (Bornheimer) who is forced to put his dreams on hold in order to take over the family handyman business from his father (Simmons). The series takes its name from the UK phrase that describes the stereotype for drivers of light commercial vehicles, often self-employed or owning small businesses such as handyman services. On The Closer, Gersh-repped Simmons, has played Deputy Chief Branda Johnson’s (Kyra Sedgwick) boss, Assistant Chief Will Pope, since the pilot. Available for pilot season for the first time in 8 years, Simmons was offered multiple pilots.

Many Cbm fans know Simmons for his fantastic performance as the head honcho of the Daily Bugle in the Raimi Spider-Man films. Also many may know him for his role as Assistant Chief Will Pope in TNT series The Closer which will be entering its eighth and final season this year. I was lucky and thrilled to get the opportunity to ask him some questions via email regarding his character, Tenzin, in the Legend of Korra and playing J. Jonah Jameson in animated and live-action form. Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my questions. You bet. I hope this works, despite my complete incompetence with all technology. Fans know that in the upcoming Avatar: The Legend of Korra your character, Tenzin, is the son of Aang and Korra's Airbending instructor; what else can you tell us about him? Not unlike the actor who provides his voice,...

The first episode of the last season of “The Closer” opens with a stereotypical hip-hop video, complete with expensive cars, Champagne-sipping in hot tubs and scantily clad women. One woman with a rose tattooed on her back gyrates on a bed behind the rapper, who we later find out is the murdered up-and-coming C-Game, as he raps about stealing a woman from another man.

Today the nominations for the 17th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards was released. The King’s Speech and The Fighter received the most nominations, with four each. Thankfully the Guild seems to know what they are doing unlike The Golden Globes who pretty much screwed up all the nominations.
The nominees here are usually a very strong indication of how the acting award nominees will play out at the Oscars. King’s Speech has long been an Oscar favourite, but David O. Russell’s The Fighter has gained considerable steam in the past few weeks. Last year, 19 out of 20 SAG nominees went to the Oscars as well so you can be sure that The Fighter and King’s Speech will get a best picture nomination. The 17th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards will be simulcast live on TNT and TBS on January 20th. See the complete list below.

David O. Russell's "The Fighter" and Tom Hooper's "The King's Speech" dominated the 17th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards nominations. Both films receive 4 nods each with "The Fighter" receiving nominations for Christian Bale, Amy Adams, and Melissa Leo in the supporting categories. The Screen Acors Guild has released their award nominations for their upcoming 17th annual award ceremony, which will take place on January 30, 2011.
There are some great nominations here. My favorite picks include Christian Bale for his role in The Fighter, Natalie Portman in her role in Black Swan, and Jesse Eisenberg for his role in The Social Network. As much as I love most of these films, I'm surprised that Inception is no where to be seen. That was one of the best films of the year and it seems to be escaping a lot of the nominations in all the award ceremonies this year.
Check out the list of Film and TV nominations below and tell us what your favorite are!

Okay, totally kidding about the Colfer Lifetime Achievement Award thing - that will be going to Ernest Borgnine. But does it seem to you that the kid who plays Kurt Hummel is getting an awful lot of awards season love? (And wouldn't McHale's Navy have been so much better with him in it?)
The latest outpouring of Colfer acclaim comes from the Screen Actors Guild who announced their 17th annual SAG nominees this morning.
The Glee cast is up for a comedy ensemble award, but Colfer was the only cast member other than Jane Lynch to be recognized individually. And given who he's up against he's almost certain to be the frontrunner!
Another bit of good news for a Glbt favorite, The Kids Are All Right, scored individual acting nods for Annete Bening, Mark Rufallo, and also a nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Cast.

The complete list of nominations for the 17th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards follows below. The ceremony will be held on January 30th, 2011.
Nothing really to highlight here, unfortunately. SAG voters apparently didn’t care for Halle Berry’s performance as much as the Golden Globes did, because she’s not on this list. And neither is Idris Elba, who was also nominated for a Golden Globe. The cast of For Colored Girls got no love either.
The significance here is that SAG nominees and winners are voted on by members of the union – essentially, their peers.
But one thing that should be obvious by now is that the Oscar race is going to come down to 4 films and the performances in those films: The Social Network, Black Swan, The King’s Speech, and The Fighter. I still have to see the last 2.

This is The Closer I love, and The Closer I will truly miss when the show goes off the air after the 2011 season.
The show's ability to infuse humor into an investigation is quite a gift for this cast, and each has a unique part to play. Combine them with a string of crimes at medical marijuana dispensaries, and you have ensemble magic.
Provenza was in rare form on "High Crimes," as he brought years worth of crime-solving and interaction with drug dealers to his view on the crime. Line after line was brilliantly delivered, and the others played off of him and egged him on.
When Chief Delk heard him call marijuana "Mary Jane" and Provenza expressed his inability to care about the dispensary owners since they are essentially drug dealers, Delk assigned him as liaison to the medical marijuana community.
It was odd seeing Delk try to fit in.

"The Closer" returns for the final five episodes of Season 6 on Monday night (Dec. 6). Star and recent Emmy winner Kyra Sedgwick tells Zap2it what viewers can look forward to, which includes her character Brenda continuing to explore her solitude.
"The unintentional theme of this year is the issue of her solitude, her aloneness," says Sedgwick. "She continues to be alone in the decisons that she makes and people continue to not agree with her. The whole Chief issue resulted in her feeling very alone in the world. I think that the loneliness was an unintentional theme of the year, but it really has emerged as a theme."

Of all the attractive evils in the world perhaps none is more insidious than the desire to blame others for our own misfortunes. If history is any judge, scapegoating never loses its appeal and, especially in economic downturns, it can be extremely dangerous for those poor souls (or social groups) blamed for events over which they had no control. What's tragic about falsely assigning responsibility for disasters (like lost wars and financial collapse) is that pointing fingers and screaming does nothing to address the real problems. But gleaning what I can from cable news shows, determining who is to blame for a calamity is more important than getting out of one. 'The Closer'Anything can get old after five years. And yet 2009 found "The Closer" in the midst of its best season yet, thanks to a crack team of writers led by creator James Duff and a crackerjack ensemble headlined by the oft-sag-nominated Kyra Sedgwick.Of course, Sedgwick is wonderful, never taking her professionally precise, personally scattered Lapd Deputy Chief Brenda Leigh Johnson too far into caricature. But what would be the point of watching without the personality dynamics in Johnson's Major Crimes squad? G.W. Bailey must be having a blast with his Lt. Provenza, whose attitude and fashion sense got turned around thanks to a new girlfriend—which gave Tony Denison's Lt. Flynn license to grouch even more. After his near-death from a shooting, Detective Sanchez now seems a tad unhinged, but Raymond Cruz grounds his character's random remarks, making Sanchez even more enjoyable. Corey Reynolds has shepherded with grace Sgt.

The morning the Screen Actors Guild announced the nominees for the 16th annual SAG awards. The actual ceremony will be held Saturday, January 23rd. There are a lot of gay-faves on the list of nominees.
For starters, Colin Firth picked up a nomination for A Single Man,and Sigourney Weaver is in the running for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Movie or Miniseries thanks to Prayers for Bobby.
Freshmen series Glee and Modern Family are competing against each other for Beest TV Comedy Ensemble.
And surprisingly (at least for me) the cast of True Blood is up for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series.
You can check out the full list of nominess after the break!
Theatrical Motion Pictures
Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role
Jeff Bridges / Bad Blake - "Crazy Heart" (Fox Searchlight Pictures)

I have a new favorite television character. For a while there, Brandon Walsh was my favorite. Then when Tiffany Amber Thiessen came to 90210, Valerie Malone stole Brandon's spot. I had had enough of his goodie-goodie routine and was onto something with some edge. Then I went soft for Rachel Green. While I was on Rachel, I flirted with the idea of Jack McPhee on Dawson's Creek. After these two, I fell for Edie Falco's Carmela Soprano. But, now I have a new one: Deputy Chief Brenda Leigh Johnson from The Closer.
When The Closer was advertised as a new television series four years ago, it didn't look that interesting to me. In fact, I paid so little attention that I kept thinking: "Nearer to what?" Once I became aware of the hard letter "s," the show still didn't seem worth a watch. After all, I was a Law & Order fan.

Boston Legal -- A David E. Kelley series typically involves a motley crew of colorful characters who are fondly remembered by TV viewers. The cast of Boston Legal, recognized again for its stellar work this year, is his best ensemble yet. The actors, like finely tuned instruments, played off one another every week to create the proper chords, tone, mood, and crescendos. The riff between Alan Shore (James Spader) and Denny Crane (William Shatner) that closed every episode could have grown stale by the end of the show's run, but as with all good arrangements, we heard a different note every time. It may not be Beethoven, but as television perfection goes, Kelley got pretty close. He was helped by a cast any writer would consider a gift. Candice Bergen as the beautiful but acerbic Shirley Schmidt, fighting off the advances of the sexually charged Denny, was pure comedy. Spader was perhaps...
