She was awarded the Widener Gold Medal from the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts.
She studied at the Academy Colarossi in Paris, France after World War II.
She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 1939 and a Masters of Arts degree in 1940 from Columbia University.
She studied art at New York City's Arts Students League (1930-1933).
In 1955 she designed the iconic gold BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Arts) trophy, in the form of a theatrical mask, which is presented each year at the BAFTA awards ceremony.
