The Ghostbusters Netflix Series Is In Development, With Scripts & Key Art In The Works. (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Gil Kenan, the director of Frozen Empire, dropped some news about the Ghostbusters Netflix cartoon. It’s called “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire” and picks up after the 2021 flick “Ghostbusters: Afterlife,” mixing in both new and old Ghostbusters characters. These recent movies are like building on the universe set up in the ’80s originals, just like how “The Real Ghostbusters” cartoon did from ’86 to ’91, and its follow-up “Extreme Ghostbusters” in ’97.
Kenan was chatting on “A Trip to the Movies with Alex Zane” about this new Ghostbusters cartoon for Netflix. He said that he had just checked out this big art presentation for the show and that they were full steam ahead with making scripts and artwork. While he remained somewhat cryptic regarding specific details, he expressed that the current era presents an exhilarating opportunity for...

As a celebration of a cracking year of cinema, the Academy scarcely put a foot wrong in a safe but spectacular Oscars 2024 ceremony. Our review:
Watching the Oscars live for the last few years hasn’t been without its risks. Grappling with pandemic fallout, declining viewing figures and some bizarre format experiments, the biggest night in showbiz has, for some time now, often failed to live up to its reputation.
The unmitigated disaster of the 2022 ceremony, though, seems to have given the Academy a kick up the backside. With last year successfully reducing the number of televised slaps back to the more conventional zero, the 96th awards ceremony seemingly built on the happily uneventful proof of concept to deliver a slick, confident broadcast that finally made a town full of storytellers look like they knew what they were doing.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is now opening its doors and its arms to welcome Deadpool in Deadpool & Wolverine. Before Disney purchased 20th Century Fox, Fox’s Marvel playground was the X-Men franchise. They could give a team member spin-offs, like Wolverine’s solo series, or explore a different facet of mutant-kind with a film like The New Mutants. Before the Deadpool movies with Ryan Reynolds took off, there was actually another version of his story that was planned involving the X-Force team getting their own movie.
According to ScreenRant, Jeff Wadlow, director of Kick-Ass 2, recently appeared on A Trip to the Movies with Alex Zane. He revealed his scrapped plans for an X-Force movie that would have had Ryan Reynolds redeem the interpretation of Wade Wilson from X-Men Origins: Wolverine. This project was one of many canceled explorations into the X-Men universe, such as Channing Tatum‘s solo Gambit movie.

The BAFTAs red carpet is well underway here in London, the UK, and the rain, this year, has thankfully stayed away. Taking place at the Royal Festival Hall on Waterloo’s Southbank, film fans have gathered at the erected fences surrounding red carpets, with excited teens clamoring for sights of Zendaya and Margot Robbie.
A few yards on the other side of the fence, movie stars sashayed their way into interviews, with the radiant Da’Vine Joy Randolph, who is nominated for Best Supporting Actress for “The Holdovers,” speaking to red carpet host Alex Zane. Randolph, who is at her first ever BAFTAs, said: “Everything is so lovely and excited. There’s a buzz. It’s wonderful, it’s so great to be here.”
She continued: “It’s a different experience when it’s not just your category. It’s special. We can enjoy the whole process together. We had amazing chemistry,...

Christopher Nolan is undoubtedly one of the greatest filmmakers in Hollywood right now. Even Martin Scorsese admits that Nolan can bring the cinematic revolution that the film industry is in dire need of. Although Nolan has not made a lot of movies, he has directed some of the most groundbreaking movies ever made. This implies that the director believes in quality over quantity.
Martin Scorsese has been in the industry for far longer than Christopher Nolan, and both of these directors agree on one thing. They both agree that franchise-led movies do not define global cinema. There was a fair amount of backlash on this opinion of theirs, and now an industry insider has also expressed his disagreement with the Tenet director’s viewpoint.

With 13 nominations apiece for the Oscars and the BAFTAs, “Oppenheimer” looks to be the awards season favorite. But director Christopher Nolan thinks his latest film may end up being more than that. Christopher Nolan offers a positive vision of Hollywood’s future, arguing that Oppenheimer opens the way for a “post-franchise, post-intellectual property landscape for movies.”
Christopher Nolan’s reliably great value in interviews, in his own polished-shoes-and-cufflinks sort of way. Just look at his headline-grabbing comments about physical media and ‘evil’ streaming services, for example.
In his latest round with the media, the director has provided an upbeat take on where Hollywood is heading, and argues that the popularity of Oppenheimer suggests we’re heading towards a “post-franchise, post-intellectual property landscape for movies.”
Nolan made the comments on presenter Alex Zane’s podcast, Countdown To The BAFTAs, news of which comes to us via Deadline.
With Nolan’s three-hour biopic having made almost $1bn in cinemas, Nolan argues that studios have now been reminded that “there’s an appetite for something people haven’t seen or an approach to things people haven’t seen before.

The box office success of Oppenheimer signals a new era of global cinema that is less defined by franchises and stories shaped by intellectual property, according to the film’s director, Christopher Nolan.
Nolan, fresh off a leading 13 nominations at BAFTA, passed through the awards body’s new awards season podcast Countdown to the BAFTAs, where he shared his thesis on what Oppenheimer can tell us about the future of cinema. He was joined by his wife and producer Emma Thomas.

British filmmaker Dexter Fletcher is fresh off the release of his Apple TV+ crime caper Ghosted, and during a recent interview, Fletcher highlighted what he described as the “comprises” required when developing a project for a streamer.
“You can’t make a film for streaming the same way you do for theatrical,” Fletcher told Alex Zane’s A Trip to the Movies podcast. “There are different metrics and approaches. There has to be, for the very reason that people can turn off very quickly.”

Horror comedy is very difficult to get right. Managing to cause laughs and scares is always a tricky balance, especially over the length of a feature film. The Evil Dead 2 is often held up as the best example of the genre, but I would probably update this to Tucker and Dale vs. Evil which managed to be sweet, funny and feature some very memorable and violent scenes. Cannibals and Carpet Fitters is, much like Snakes on a Plane, a title that makes me smile. It earns an awful lot of good will through title alone. But beyond the amusing Cockney vs. Zombies-style title there must...

As the hype train has been kicking into gear for many of 2015’s big releases, things have been oddly quiet for one the largest upcoming movies. Other movies have been showing special effects laden trailers to get audiences hyped years ahead of time, yet there’s been nothing but scant rumours about Bond 24, the latest entry in the 007 series and follow-on to the incredible Skyfall.
All that changed this morning, when the world got its first official information on Spectre. The title of the new movie, as well as its central cast and location schedule, were revealed at a special, live-streamed event at Pinewood studios. Bookended by moments of Alex Zane reading facts off Wikipedia for some reason, the announcement was a brilliant way for everyone to learn the exciting news at the same time, rather than having news outlets scrambling to be the first to report on it.

"Occasionally, when I've had too much wine and I'm with Simon, I'll say, 'Let's look at Popworld'."
There are two types of pop music show. Ones that came before Popworld, and ones that came after Popworld.
Simon Amstell and Miquita Oliver's early '00s pop chat and magazine show made it worth getting up in the morning for millions of teenagers and university students between 2001 and 2006 (let's ignore the Alex Zane years).
Previously, popstars had been used to inane phone-ins and cheery hysteria on Saturday morning kids TV. Simon and Miquita went for a different tact - taking the piss.
We caught up with Miquita to look back at the show's glory years.
How many times a week do you get people asking about Popworld?
Weekly? I'd probably say 60 times a day. But I love it, I'm fine with it. It's one of the best things I've ever done.

This weekend The Brewery was host to the sixth annual Jameson Empire Done in 60 Seconds awards, which sees budding filmmakers from across the world submit a 1 minute remake of their favourite film. 800+ entries had been whittled down to 24 for Saturday’s global final with entries spanning Indies, blockbusters and Oscar winners. It’s a competition that gets better with each passing year, and the quality of the shorts was once again very high.

Speaking to us before the ceremony began in earnest, Wheatley told us why he jumped at the chance to be the judger of judges; “I’ve been asked to go on panels for all sorts of stuff.

Alex Zane likes to achieve 10 things and then pretend they were his New year's resolutions. The 34-year-old TV presenter prefers to make ''post-resolutions'' because then he feels a sense of accomplishment after completing them, and he makes it seem more believable by laminating his list of achievements and displaying them in his flat. He exclusively told Bang Showbiz: ''What I do is I achieve 10 things and then write them down as a resolution. I make post-resolutions. I wait until I've done stuff and then go, 'That was a resolution.' ''I won't lie, I've not met many people who think it's a...

Alex Zane wants a new dustpan and brush for Christmas. The 34-year-old TV presenter admits he is not fussy when it comes to his desired Christmas gifts and would much rather receive practical presents than fancy items he isn't ever going to put to good use. He exclusively told Bang Showbiz: ''I did create a Christmas list, weirdly, but it's not an exciting one at all. I asked for a new dustpan and brush, pretty much that's it really. I'm the easiest person to buy for. A dustpan and brush.'' Despite his unexciting Christmas list, Alex admits any new dustpan and...

Last week HeyUGuys was embroiled in what can only be described of the clash of the titans of movie websites and publications.
Organised by Disney, we attended the Monsters University Pixar Challenge to mark the release of Monsters University which hits cinemas this Friday. Up against the likes of Sky Movies, Empire Magazine, Total Film, Film 4 and many more, we took on the challenge by answering some of the geekiest questions to ever come out of Emeryville California (that is where Pixar is based in case you were wondering!).
Hosted by Alex Zane, we took a team of 6 of our finest writers including Joe Cunningham (his name has to come first because he knew most the answers), Ben Mortimer, Jon Lyus, Kenji Lloyd, Stefan Pape and David Sztypuljak. Each team had a Pixar themed name and ours (invented by the clever Jon Lyus) was Ratzenburger and Chips!

Although we’re currently gearing up for the impending release of Olympus Has Fallen, it’s another film about a terrorist attack on the White House that has caught our attentions this evening, and HeyUGuys were fortunate enough to be in attendance at a special footage screening of Roland Emmerich’s White House Down, starring Channing Tatum and Jamie Foxx, with the former present and answering our questions at this special central London event.
With a live satellite link to both Emmerich and Foxx live in New York – the German director introduced the footage to us, as we witnessed eight minutes of the film, previously unseen by British audiences. The footage itself is more a summary of events as opposed to one scene in its entirety, appearing more as an elongated trailer if you will – and our first impressions are that of excitement ahead of the films September 6 release here in the UK.

TV daredevil Jonathan Goodwin launches his new Watch TV show this evening with a hatful of breathtaking stunts that will blow your mind.
Climbing around a moving car, hanging off burning ropes and putting live scorpions in his mouth are just everyday jobs for the professional dangerman.
However, Goodwin isn't the first man to create stunt-tv. Digital Spy looks back at some of the craziest and most memorable TV jaw-droppers in recent memory.
David Blaine Stuck In A Box
He started out as a rather cool street magic act. Nowadays, he's generally regarded as being a couple of sarnies short of a picnic. But there was a time when David Blaine could create a standstill with his wacky stunts and when he arrived in London to perform 'Above the Below', it landed him a much talked-about Channel 4/Sky1 show.

The Oscars – that time, which comes once a year, when UK based film students, graduates and plain old movie-geeks get together with nachos and chocolate biscuits and gather around an illegal stream of the calendar’s most glamorous event. Or, if you close your eyes, the world’s most prestigious meeting of cannibals and psychopaths – “who are you wearing,” indeed!
Being, as I am, a law-abiding citizen, I wasn’t tuned into this promenade of flesh-garbed movie stars via any online stream. In fact, for the longest portion of it I wasn’t tuned into the red carpet show at all.
